hey sparky, I got a Talon in for AIR today. Those pockets we were talking about. there are two of them. one 650mm from the top of the free-bag (pocket 200mm long) and then the next one on the other side of the bridle is 850mm further from the top of the first pocket. This came from a 1998 Talon 2 (built in Australia by Parachutes Australia) in the event of a horseshoe the pockets are no longer effective on this bridle as they would both have their mouths pointing away from the relative wind. Are there any differences on the bridles of the RI built rigs? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

and 'Down Under' only the person who signed the card last may open the rig (for the purpose of changing AAD batteries etc) and close it again without a complete repack. If it was not the last person to sign the packing data card then opening the reserve container means a complete AIR as for seeing your reserve toggle- what sort of conatiner is that? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

They would be inded what he is describing. Interesting thought here though....this thread is based on a horseshoe on the reserve. These 'assistor' pockets are only functional (if at all) uni-directionally. In the event of a horseshoe these 'assistor' pockets become immediately disfunctional due to the mouth know pointing upwards, away from the relative wind. If they seriously thought that there was any benifit from them, other than to LOOK like they are doing something to solve a problem, surely they would have them facing both directions. What next - Airbags? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I too use a rig without an AAD for my wingsuit. However there was a cypres save early this year where two wingsuits had a bit of a knock and one was out cold. Woke up in a field wondering what had just happened. (not directed at you SM1) I think the whole argument about going too slow in a wingsuit for an AAD be of any use is nonsense. If your incapacitated then you wont be flying nice and stable in your suit you'll most likely be on your back in which case it could just save your life. Rant over I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Aint that the truth. back in the days when I was new to camera I gathered together a couple of rigs so I could do the back-to-back thing. Out of a C182 I was doing the 'hang form the strutt' with one foot on the step exit. Great shot of the TM/pax and Pilot as they climb out. One load I am climbing out and as I turn my head back inwards to get the climb out the Pilot is looking at me with a look of horror and waving to "GO!". Luckily I didn't question it and just went. I had about half a second to wonder why they said Go when i found a canopy above my head. We thikn that what happened was the student dislodged my pin with their foot as we manouvered for climb-out. I had a horse-shoe on the step and the bag was nearing the tail of the plain. The P/C was still in the BOC and luckily cleared only after I exited. If it had come out sooner it would have gone of the tail and if it hadn't come out I would have had an even bigger horror show to deal with. So when someone gives you a signal i suggest you follow the instruction and if it was them bing stupid in the air you can always have your fun with them back on the ground. You'll have lots of time to think of a good revenge on along canopy ride down I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I can't help you with the maker of the gizmo though someone recently posted about using a s/s fid that worked rather nicely apparently. and thanks for the other info I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Good Point and well made. Thank you. you are correct that the loop does not know where the force comes from. on the subject of "quite new Locking loop' are you talking about a Main or Reserve? If it is a Reserve the quote suggests that it was not new. Could that be interpreted to suggest that it is therefore a good idea regardless to change the loop everytime? Remove seal o Open rig Completely Dis-assemble rig - remove links from risers, lines from links, P/C from bridle etc Return rig to person advising them that I will be advising all local riggers of said 'Identity Theft/Fraud' Advise person that they should find someone competent to re-assemble rig as attempting to re-assemble and pack rig themselves would very likely be catastrophic. ~ have a nice Day this coud be seen as over the top but then again so is Identity Theft and Fraud I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Every repack for 1-pin rigs and every other for 2-pin rigs (racer etc) I believe that it is especially important for anyone that is using a positive leverage device to close the rig to change them EVERY repack due to the forces that can be exerted during closing. just my tuppence worth I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Went from a DZ with Ripcords to Throw-Aways. On my very Pre-Second Jump I was JM1 to a girl who is in the forces and was very into BodyBuilding. Come pull height she reaches, locates and then lays one square on my chin. The bruise was there for a week at least. Landed and promptly ordered a second AAD for the second rig. Cost had been an issue up until then. Bugger the FOOD,BILLS,RENT etc I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

You go tthe right point. Its above the thumb. It requires a bit of a twist on the thumb to activate and I haven't had any problems with it. I like being able to turn it on/off under canopy from any angle and the security of seeing the light in freefall I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I started to use the cameye after a couple of "camera mal's". The main reason being that I have trouble seeing the red light through the plastic on bright days. What it does mean though is that I can turn the camera on and off under canopy without doing gymnastics and I can conserve battery / tape on long work days. I have also had a student bring their arms out quick enough and hard enough twice to shock the camera into turning off. With the cameye I just watch the pretty light. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I have both a Seimax .42 and a liquid .3 and I find there is practically no difference between them. It comes down to putting trying the lens you like and seeing how good it is. There are many cost effective options that are just as good. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Cool fun aren't they I only have about 20 or so out of a chopper but I have found that putting my toes on the runner and hanging their legs over works well. As I lean forward and I start to feel myself go I push a little with my toes and a lot with my chest. Very stable flat exit. I think it gets a little head down just before the drouge throw. As for getting the exit on cam, worry about that when you have your exits nailed. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Nice one Fergie Actually about two months ago at Willowbank I was tracking away after an AFF and as I flared out of the track I looked down at the spot and saw an eagle some few hundred feet below me. Quick pitch, check canopy and look around...there it was just ahead of me. Great visuals as I drifted below and to one side of him. Wishing I had my camera on that jump I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

this is correct unless it your jumping a Strong which has no trapdoor effect. I am still trying to get used to that falling feeling after drouge release I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
