  1. These numbers are estimates. But they do illustrate just what countries of the nine known to possess nukes actually have enough of them to threaten mankind. https://www.ploughshares.org/world-nuclear-stockpile-report Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 2. This is a strange statement to make considering the subject matter of the thread. I can explain that. A world wide stock of thousands of fusion weapons exists. Conspiracy theories are only theories. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. All too human and just about what the average AAD save really is. Most of us say that we have them because we may take a hit on a jump and it could save us. But the reality is that we are human, time is short in freefall, and all of us could screw up. I've personally been on the scene of only a few AAD fires. All of them caused by a single person's error. None involving anyone taking a hit. And almost all come with much less honesty than this report.
  4. But it's not just Bannon. He is not the mighty conductor or king maker. He is just a side show. Trump is the man who has taken control of the Presidency and who managed to be nominated by the people who give the GOP it's power. It is already too late for the GOP even if they can find a way to end the Trump era early. They will have to wait for it to end of it's own accord. They simply can not ignore or wish away the one third of the electorate who thinks Trump is exactly what McConnell et al deserve. That one third is two thirds of the people who vote GOP. To put it another way, Trump is twice as popular to the rank and file as anyone else. Who can seriously challenge him? It is unlikely that he can be defeated in a 2020 primary. And I find it equally unlikely that he can win in a 2020 general election. But I like many have been wrong about that before.... 6. Compassionate conservatives have left the building. Driven out by culture warriors, talk show millionaires and tea party partisans. If they dare speak up they are instantly branded as RINOs. If they are professional politicians they will be primaried. They are mostly comfortable middle class people with jobs and health insurance. They just don't care that much. And they do not count because they do not vote in primary elections. Yes, they are out there in great numbers. They are the new silent majority. And when they get pissed off enough some of them will vote D. If the D candidate is seen as acceptable. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 7. Wendy's right. Ron's delusional thinking is informative and gives me insight into just how dangerous elements of the "Christian Right" can be. He is warning to the rest of us. There are people in positions of power who share some of his views. There are people who are just waiting for the most horrible things to happen, and who will do what they can to help make them happen, just because it will bring on the the passing of some weird prophesy that they are longing to come to pass. People who think like that become dangerous when they are given or take power. Ron helps us to understand that. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 10. The analysis this morning is saying that turn out among minorities was greater than expected. This is a very good sign. They most likely were motivated not just by dislike of Moore, but also Trump. If more of these people had made the effort to vote last year Trump would not be in office now. I understand that HRC was not a candidate they could get excited about, but they are sure paying the price for sitting on their hands now. 11. I was packing a reserve when my wife came downstairs to tell me there is hope in the world after all. I really had no idea she was even paying attention to it. So I turned on the CNN feed and listened to the Jones victory speech. All the time expecting a shot to ring out and fell him live on TV. It's very easy to read too much into this. Moore was a deeply flawed man as a candidate. But to me, the best part is that this is the seat vacated by Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III. Who is actually even more evil than Moore. Hey Billy

I drove I-70 west out of Denver last week. Up and into Rifle to pick up a load. The weather was great all the way. Dry roads and blue skies even at the top of the pass. But I did not see what you saw. I guess I need to dump the truck and get a bike. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  13. I see your point. But an exterior inspection of those components could be accomplished at the DZ after a jump and before packing in 30 minutes or less. Of course ideally most of that is done by the owner keeping an eye on things. But in these days of people just throwing their rig at a packer and paying for a quick pack job things that should be tended to get missed. 14. There is a grain of truth in what you say. But the CIA director serves at the pleasure of the President. And is replaced fairly regularly. I know the director does not control every little thing that goes on there. But you can't build an empire without an emperor. 15. Sorry Ron. I think of it more as a moral duality. A way of feeling holier than thou. Or to put in in a secular context, wanting to have your cake and eat it too. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. I can't imagine the second spinny thing actually makes the cost of operation double. According to an article the blackhawk caravan burns up to 65gph while a twin otter burns 90gph. Assuming you can do four full loads per hour in the blackhawk and three in the otter that makes 72 jumpers per hour for each craft. Assuming you pay $20/load and fuel costs $3/gal the blackhawk will cost $275/hr while the otter will cost $330/hr. So yeah, a B model blackhawk is more efficient than an otter but not by double, more like 20%. But a big part of the cost to operate an aircraft is engine and propeller overhaul and maintenance. Two times the cost for a twin. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. That is a central part of why I find so much hypocrisy in Ron's thinking. On the one hand he will remind us all the time that the only thing that matters is salvation through his Lord. On the other hand it's very important to him to comment on the affairs of man as if they are important. Then when challenged to justify statements that are of dubious truthfulness he retreats back to saying only Jesus matters. You just can't have a good discourse with a person who can only use magical thinking as backup. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. A one year repack cycle would be very useful and appropriate. Especially here in Canada where the season is often just over 180 days. My feeling is that an ideal solution would be an external harness, container, and main inspection at 180 days and a reserve repack with a complete inspection yearly. Reserves are well protected inside the container and are most likely to be damaged with no benefit from frequent repacking. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. I'm not a CRW guy, but I suspect the answer is no. But the reason I'm posting is similar to yours. At my home DZ we have people doing microline CRW. I also did some Stiletto CRW 20 years ago, but stopped when I cut my hand on someone's lines. My wife has decided to try some CRW, so I relined an RW Triathlon with Dacron for her. In the past some of my friends have docked on her Pilot with Sabre type canopies. She did not know better. I told my friend that we were going to be going out back for a "discussion" with fists if he ever did that again. I just keep thinking about the feeling of that microline cutting into my skin. That was enough to convince me. But I really want to hear what people who really know think.
  20. Meh...I think you are being a bit of a drama queen here. The outcome of the Alabama special election, while very interesting is not really going to tip the balance in any appreciable way. It's not even a very good indicator of how future elections may go. It has such a special player in Moore, and such a one sided state in Alabama that it has grabbed our attention. But the spectacle will change nothing in the end. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. The most immediate China danger is the question of what they will do if the Trump Regime decides it wants a war to distract the populace from it's complete lack of effectiveness. There is already talk of a "premptive attack" on NK and the use of atomic weapons has not been ruled out. China's policy is believed to be that it will not stand with NK if it starts a war by launching an attack. But that it will side with NK if it is attacked first. This scenario could go sideways very quickly. Russia, China, and other players would have to make very quick decisions on how to respond. And the US would need to weigh it's response to that response. Although this is not all that likely to happen as far as we can tell at the moment it is possible. And the consequences could be a world completely different from the one we enjoy today. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. Their largest size is the VC4, which according to their website holds up to 170 standard canopies. I would guess that you could get a Pulse 190 or Storm 190 in there, but I would contact them to be sure. They also just put stock rigs in every size up on the website. **c* me, so that's like a main and 169 reserves? It now comes in Vc5 size. I just assembled one a week ago. I put a PDR176 up top and a Pilot 188 in the bottom. It's said to be able to hold a 193 reserve, but I'm glad I didn't have to try, the 176 was tight enough.
