  1. Only because people don't. If that is your attitude you pretty much deserve what you have. Seriously, democracy only works when people participate. Idealistic? Democracy itself is idealistic. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. You can and others can wish for the system to change. But the only way that can have a hope of happening is by electing people who agree. To do that you will all need to participate in the system as much as you can. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. Your system favours those who care enough to get off their asses and vote. You don't have to actually join a party, as in buy a membership, to vote in a primary. In some states you don't even have to declare a party affiliation. Mostly you just have to care enough to bother. Trump's supporters did. I recently paid and joined the Conservative Party of Canada in order to have a vote for leader. Because I wanted to do what I could to avoid one of our major parties being taken over by extremist forces. Lucky for me it worked out. The new leader is definitely conservative, but in the good way. And he has a shot at winning in the next general election. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. Funny. The D establishment got the candidate they wanted. The R establishment got the one they did not want. The nation got the president it deserves? Karma! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  5. It does look like too much in the top of the ears. Wings are funny. You MUST fill the ears, and the manual will say so. If you don't the p/c will not seat nicely. But I have found that you don't want to stuff the very top too much. They are a bitch to get just right. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  6. No. Not in theory. Healthcare is actually a provincial responsibility, not a national plan. When a Canadian, or a legal resident changes place of residence to a different province they must register with that province's health insurance system to be covered. If you are traveling within Canada your home province will cover you up to what they would pay at home. You could be out of pocket for some of it. Foreign nationals traveling or visiting are not covered. Refugees will have some services covered by the Federal government. 7. Yes, of course. A good dose of blather and psycho-babble. Anything to change the subject and avoid dealing with the problem. Evolution will help life on Earth. It will find a replacement for us. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  8. Scott Pruitt is going to have his work cut out suppressing this US Government report: https://www.mprnews.org/story/2017/11/02/npr-massive-government-report-says-climate-is-warming-and-humans-are-the-cause Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 9. The plan I see drops the deduction for state and local taxes, but as a "compromise", keeps it for property taxes. In other words renters will be required to subsidize owners. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  10. Which actually means a tax increase of 50% for them. Jerry Baumchen Except that their basic deduction would increase. So maybe not. Tax policy is complicated. The R plan out of the house is not all that outrageous considering it is an R plan. The bigger point is the attempt to lower revenues at a time of increasing deficit. This is an integral part of a larger plan to gut federal programs. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. I'm not sure God accepts excuses like that. You are sounding like a lawyer now. Plausible deniability? Just remember, the heavenly Father can see the content of your heart. Obfuscation will not fool him. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  12. Yes. We had a Conservative government a few years ago that tried to change that. But Canadians were not willing to accept any change in this basic right. The same government attempted to fight the last election using immigration as a wedge issue. They were soundly defeated. The party recently had a leadership change and some of the candidates ran on an anti immigration platform. They were unsuccessful. 13. Except no one said that. Shocking. Do you mean that Ron is bearing false witness? Again? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. Thanks to obelixtim for starting this thread. A similar thread was blocked in the incidents forum because it had drifted far away from discussions of the incident. It is an interesting case. The pissing match between the two of you is very uninteresting. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. That's alright. You don't answer to me. And no one is perfect. We are all sinners. The point is that like many "Christians", you pick and choose when and where to obey God's law. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. Or just a lot smarter than some other countries! Someone has to pay for my CPP and OAS when I can't drive a truck anymore. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. Better harden up your northern border America. You'll need a big beautiful wall soon. http://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/canada-to-admit-340-000-immigrants-a-year-by-2020-under-new-three-year-plan-1.3659447 Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 18. More testimony this week. This quote is from the victim on the stand: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-wiltshire-41759492 Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. Hey, he was over the top on that bit. But still, it was a great rant and it really hit the spot with many people. If you really want to see examples of over the top vegans just go on over to the PETA site. There is no shortage of far more insulting animal rights zealots than I can stomach there. But you are also right. In real life the vegans I know mostly just go about their business and don't tell me what I should eat. But many of them do make a point of letting everyone know about their righteous diet. I suppose if you are going to make the sacrifice of give up so many tasty foods you would want to at least be recognized for your moral superiority! 20. The problem with this is that most of the people I know who wear turbans are actually Sikhs. And even most terrorists don't wear turbans. It's about the same as calling Asians slant eyes. But I agree. It's America. And apparently this thing was planned. How the hell was he not able to have real firearms? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. Really!? That is a bold statement. Which ones do you think I am leaving out? Just off the top of my head the one against bearing false witness comes to mind. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. He is technically incorrect. But on the other hand where there is no enforcement there is no regulation. So from his perspective those laws do not even exist. He also only follows the commandments he agrees with. Not all 10 of them. For the same reason. No enforcement. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 23. Reagan was lucky, JFK was not. Or, Hinkley was unlucky and Oswald was not. The bullets had to go somewhere once fired. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  24. Sigh, ...... yet the shot was made, JFK was killed, and there is no credible evidence of another shooter. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  25. exhausting to turn those babies over, isn't it? That's why we nylon technicians get paid the big bucks. You have to turn over and inspect both sides of any stitching for the inspection to be valid. Just because there is a beautiful row of top stitches that you can see does not mean there was bobbin thread in the machine to finish the stitch. There are places on harnesses where you can not see the whole stitch pattern holding the harness together unless you take apart leg pads. I have a small flash light that helps me see into dark places, but the possibilities scare me sometimes. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms.
