  1. I think, (and I may be way off base here) that the problem is basically with the VPN software thinking that there could be a computer on the other side of the VPN with the same IP address as his computer has....and this causes problems for everyone. By changing the IP range of the computer, it is outside the possibilities of IP addresses on the other side. Once the VPN software packages up the info to send over the internet, it shouldn't matter how it is routed. **my uneducated opinion, I may be wrong.
  2. The range of IP addresses you're talking about are not "real" IP addresses that are used on the internet. They are used for internal use within smaller networks. You dont have a "real" IP address, as far as the internet is concerned. Your ISP has a single IP address that is used over the internet, however this address may be shared among a number of users. By installing another router, you can create your own internal network and define your IP address to be whatever you want it to be. Edited to add: The problem is, (and what I just now understood), your ISP runs their internet service more like an intranet that you would find in an office or home network. They use the same block of addresses that are on the other side of the VPN, this is the source of your issues. You've got two solutions: get your ISP to change your ip address range, or buy a router and have control of it yourself.
  3. Try going here: http://whatismyip.com/. I bet you see something completely different then what you see when you ipconfig.
  4. 172.19 and 172.21 are both (I have just learned thanks to Ryoder), Private IP addresses. That makes more sense to me now. Do what Beowulf said and get yourself a router.
  5. Makes sense. That'd probably be a lot easier then dealing with either side. With the added benefit of getting a wireless network at the same time (if you buy the wireless kind of router).
  6. At least they know what's up. Maybe they'll be able to help you out afterall. Good Luck.
  7. 456 was an example...not a real octet. I'm definatly not a networking professional. I've never done VPN work either. Do you think he has any chance of getting his IP address changed from the ISP? I think that kind of problem would be better worked out from the VPN side. Espically if it is the uppermost level of the IP address that needs changed...that's all I'm saying.
  8. mine starts with a 172. which coincidentally so does the location I am trying to connect through the VPN to ..which apparently clusterfuck confuses the equipment somewhere along the way. The internet provider says mine is NOT a static IP and it changes every 24 hours. Don't know if that means anything important. Not static means it can change every 24 hours, not it will change every 24 hours. I have had the same ip address from an ISP for months on end. edited, I was wrong. Sorry bout' that.
  9. Ok what is the IP address you are trying to change? If it begins with 192.168 or 10.0, you can change it yourself. Otherwise, it is probably an IP address with your ISP, then you are going to need to talk to them, and changing it will be difficult at best.
  10. Try typing "192.168.1.1" into your web browser. If you get a username/password box, try "admin" for both. Then see if you can change the DHCP range from there.
  11. What kind of router do you have? Linksys? Netgear? Do you know the admin password?
  12. Not just Alaska Airlines, you can track any IFR flight by flight number or the plane's tail number at flightaware.com
  13. Here's one from the US Mint itself: http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=10478&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10083
  14. Transponders for part 91 use are governed by FAR 91.215 I don't think there is any 'grandfather' clause allowing older aircraft unequipped for transponders in. Class C tends to be pretty congested airspace and I would think it would be pretty dangerous to have a plane up there without a transponder.
  15. I don't think you need a transponder to get in and out of Class D airspace, just establish 2-way radio communications. You need a transponder for Class C airspace, and you need a transponder if you are within 30 miles of a class B tower regardless of what airspace you are in.
  16. On many videocards, the video is sent straight to the card instead of being processed throught the CPU's graphics, like everything else on the monitor. This is why there is usually a black space where the video should be...

    Photoshoped?

Not sure if it has anything to do with it but watch this:http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=5657
  18. 2 soultions - either force yourself to drink from it alot, or put it inside your jacket. Drinking from it every ten minutes or so will keep the warmer water in the tube and keep it from freezing, not to mention, it's not a bad idea to stay hydrated at higher altitudes. If you do put it inside your jacket, do yourself a favor and buy a better valve then the simple bite valve..those leak too easily and you really dont want all that water on your inside layers. Look for a valve with some sort of switch on it. Even in your jacket, if it is colder, you will still have to force yourself to drink from it from time to time to keep it from freezing if it is really cold.
  19. ...yeah but they also went into overtime on a bad call too... What a game! Having grown up in Denver and watching the Rockies be the worst team in baseball it's nice to see them winning for once!
  20. Yup. I'm excited to see the rest of the season. I just hope they pull off some better episodes then what they have been coming up with lately. The last few seasons have lacked the originality and raw humor that south park is known for. It seems like everything they have done lately is just a parody of something else....funny, but not original.
  21. Chris - You've got every right to be terrified. That's some scary shit you're up against. With all the meds, pain, ER visits, and doctors, I can imagine that it can be really overwhelming at times. And it sounds like you've still got a long road ahead of you. It sounds really cliche, but there is a lot to be said for keeping a positive attitude and remaining strong for all of it....the body is an amazing thing and I've been really amazed at how people have been able to recover by facing every day with a positive outlook. I can't imagine what it feels like to be dealing with this kind of thing. It makes everything I worry about in my daily life seem pretty miniscule in comparision. Keep happy, be positive, and enjoy life to the maximum, hopefully things will sort themselves out for you in the mean time. I've got a lot of respect for people who have the strength to get through this kind of thing.
  22. It's a home move. And my zip code isn't even changing. I hate the realization of how much stuff I have accumulated. I used to move 2 times a year during college and it took only an afternoon and a single truck load. This time it took all my free time for two weeks (and counting) and multiple truck and trailer loads back and forth.
  23. After this move, I don't want to move again for a very long time. Who knew that moving 4 miles could be such a pain in the butt? The amount of time and effort this has taken has been ridiculous. Next time, I'm hiring professionals.
  24. Driving me nuts today? Having to change my address with every corporation I am associated with. I am getting really sick of the new and "improved" voice recognition software all these companies are using. It usually goes something like this: computer: How can I help you today? me: address change computer: okay, claim status computer: there are no open claims at this time, Goodbye. (I call back) computer: How can I help you today? me: change my address computer: okay, pay my bill computer: please enter your credit card number... I hate these things.
  25. Colorado...the results should be posted Friday morning. It seems kind of cruel...if you passed, your name is on the list. If you didn't, well your name just isn't on the list.
