  1. BEER. LOTS of it. I just started counting calories in my daily diet and I was shocked how many calories in beer alone I am putting away every week.
  2. I'm in. I just started training for an adventure race in 9 weeks. I seem to have put on a lot of weight this winter.
  3. 247K in Colorado this morning. (Sounds a lot better than -14F)
  4. Ahem... Michele, sounds like you're very lucky! I've done the same thing before and come upstairs (I was in the basement for several hours) to a gas filled house. It's scary thinking "what if"...
  5. I'm guessing it was an attempt to try the old, "I'll send you much more money then you are asking and you send back the remainder" scam. He probably pulled it on someone else and got reported, hence the account deletion.
  6. 50.6 hours... not bad. It took me about 55 to get mine, and I thought I was doing well for only being able to fly on weekends. I've only been able to get up twice since getting my license because the weather in Colorado has not been conducive to flying for the last month or so...unless you want to take off and land on an snow covered runway with 40 knot crosswinds and fly IFR in known icing conditions and severe turbulance. Oh well, at least it's been good for skiing
  7. Congrats! I just got my license about a month ago. It's a whole different world once you are completely on your own!
  8. yeah, yeah I know, we are in COLORADO ... it's supposed to snow here. But the little secret that all us Denver people know is that we don't (usually) get much snow in the winter. It's usually warm and sunny all winter. The snow is supposed to be in the mountains for us to ski on, not here for us to drive on. You really learn that most people in Denver have no idea how to drive in the snow after a few snowstorms like this.
  9. Like this? After millions of dollars of investment in the system by United and Denver they completely abandoned the system last year in favor of a traditional system.
  10. Looks like an efficient runway layout to me. Notice how none of them cross each other so they can all be used at once? I've worked with the ultimate buildout plans for DIA, they have room for a total of 11 runways and 5 concourses in the ultimate plan. There's a lot of conspiracy stuff associated with DIA. At one point there were rumors of a secret runway built underground that was going to be uncovered when the "New World Order" took hold. The truth was that they did the grading for the 16,000' long Runway 34L when they built the airport, but didn't actually build the runway itself until a few years ago.
  11. Order through their small business division in the future. Customer service is here in the US, and they are responsive. I recently ordered a laptop from them and had to call to get a part of the order changed. It took 5 minutes and there were no hassles. The ship date when I ordered it said 1/15....but it arrived today. I guess their small business division is a lot more on top of it than their general division.
  12. Yup, that happened at Meadow Lake airport just Northeast of Colorado Springs, CO. The pilot was pretty lucky from the looks of it...
  13. You lucked out big time. That type of transfer should be done in a cleanroom with the proper calibration tools only. A speck of dust can waste a platter. That's what I thought, I assumed there was no chance of it working. I was quite surprised when they got it working.
  14. I had a drive once that went bad just as described. We happened to have an identical hard drive that we wern't using. We very carefully opened up the hard drive, removed the actual metallic discs from inside the drive and transplanted the discs into the other drive. It was a pain in the ass. There were many screws, springs and other moving pieces that we had to delicately reassemble. However, we were able to recover the entire contents of the hard drive that way.
  15. You'll be fine by the 7th. (unless lightning strikes yet again) I made it out of DIA last night, the whole deicing and waiting for the active runway made me more than an hour late, but I made it.
  16. All indications are my flight is still going to go, but with the following "notes": DPTS OT /1313CT/1213-2359/PROB DLYS/DVRT/CNCL-SNOW$VISIBILITY$AIRPORT+ARVS OT+ Hmm.. I'm about to head to the airport. Wish me luck.
  17. Really? Where did you hear that? As far as I know my flight was still on for tonight? I REALLY don't want to drive out to DIA only to find out my flight has been cancled then get stuck there for the next two days.
  18. It just started snowing Downtown. I'm not entirely sure that tonight's flight is going to happen.
  19. Maybe you should go out to the airport and try to get onto another flight there at the counter. I think the phones are a lost cause. I finally got ahold of them. It took calling over and over again, then waiting on hold for half an hour. I'm flying out tonight instead of tommorow. I hope it doesn't get too bad for the next 10 hours or so.
  20. I've got enough patience for exactly one of these a year. Besides, last time I didn't have anywhere to go. This time, I am supposed to fly out of DIA tommorow night. I can't even get ahold of United Airlines to change my flight even though the recording when you call "strongly urges" you to change to an eariler flight.
  21. here...we...go....again.... This is getting old
  22. Hydrogen and Oxygen will be hard to get and fill a balloon with. My favorite homemade gas bomb is to fill a trash bag with propane and toss it on a campfire. You don't get a big boom with that, just a massive fireball. Acetylene in a balloon works well for a boom, just find a welding tank...
  23. Ya, just what we need, more snow. I was just clearing the last bit of snow from the driveway when it started to come down.
  24. I like frontier. I've had good experiences with them. It sounds like you and your brother are dealing with the situation well too. Many people would be calling demanding to be put on a flight this instant. Sounds like you were willing to make concessions, and they were willing to make concessions and it worked out.
