  1. If packed incorrectly the line burn will happen regardless of the delay. whether it is for training jumps or competition. It is almost useless to use an RDS that cannot be taken to terminal because there is rarely a competition that allows only subterminal openings. ie if you are first out on a pass of four you need to be taking some sort of delay. depending on the others of course. The packing is no biggie. just needs to be correct.
  2. I have over five hundred jumps on mels sliders on canopies ranging from velo 96 to prototype unmentionables. his design is solid
  3. Hey D it will be good to see you there. its been a long time since the old gang was all together. Me you ian katie and the likes. Ian and i will be doing some training jumps and helping anyone we can. keep your eyes to the sky! and watch out for lamp posts! Paul
  4. everyone, I mean everyone. including you. had the opportunity to voice your opinion and have the rules set up like you think they should be. I wasnt complaining
  5. Im going from wearing 45lbs to zip, nada, squat, shit, nothing, marks IQ, ... well you get the point. It seems to be heading in the direction of flying specialized canopies for specific events.
  6. Hi Mel HAve you had many tension knots? I know the newer UV coated lines tend to be a little sticky. that coupled with the realy thin lines made me wonder. I have heard nothing but really positive feed back from your work and Joes. I look forward to recieving some sliders from you both. Kind regards Paul Rossouw
  7. Hi Jim And Duane Thanks guys for posting. I have tried calling but figured that you have plenty on your plates. I hope you are already planning what your next cunning stunt will be and i hope you get well speedy like!! All the best Paul

  9. Dont knock it sootie i WISH i had THAT kind of wingloading. unfortunately i am at a physical disadvantage when it comes to being a fat ass!!! I am working on it tho! pie and chips i say old mucka.
  10. Hi I dont mean to detract from your question but what do you consider "more aggressive" ? A canopy that turns quicker or something that dives more?
  11. Generally if a canopy opens hard consistently you can blame the canopy. if it opens hard once in a blue moon you could attribute it to some other externality. I have a few hundred pilot jumps on various sizes loaded from 1.2 - 2.3 and have had only smooth consistent openings. I also have several bird man jumps and they also have been nothing but pleasant. Hope this helps Blue ones Paul
  12. Yes I saw Hans in his new suit. (ALL of it!!) IT looks very nice the sewing is top quality and i love their swoop pants. so stylish so sleek so oooh aaaaah . now if only i could swoop Paul
  13. That is an intentional very well executed freestyle move started by Lyle Presse. Its called the Presse twist
  14. not sure i understand your question. are you asking if it was more pilot than canopy accounting for the increase in swoop distance?
  15. I spent one day doing 14 back to back jumps with both the katana and the mamba in the same exact size. The line trim is a little flatter on the mamba and thus making it better for getting back from long spots. the recovery arc seems slightly shorter on the mamba. one thing i noticed with every single jump is that the mamba went consistently about fifty to seventy five feet further in a swoop. they were both similar with toggle pressure and rear riser pressure. the front riser pressure seemed a touch lighter on the katana but still very comparible. The mamba also seemed to have more oversteer and i would say seemed more "eliptical" or responsive to toggle input. At the time i did these jumps the mamba was still in development so this may not be an accurate current description. i am also fairly confident that the flying characteristics would not have changed much. both are great canopies. I was associated to aerodyne at the time of doing these jumps but i have since moved away. I have tried to keep this as objective as possible please pm me for more questions. Thanks Paul
  16. Dont let Jay see that or we will have more shit to learn for freestyle!
  17. Quote he knows he's stuff Quote What!!!!!!! you dont know mark do you? Paul Rossouw
  18. jay is beatable. it will take training focus and money and the right canopy. pipe dream maybe, but it is an awsome feeling when you relise your dreams can come true with dedication. i would love to see some sort of stock class, maybe hosted by p.d. then one by areodyne, then one by icarus. and on and on. if the same pilots came to each one, im willing to bet you would see a trend on who was on top and who wasnt. JAy is Far from unbeaten, he is on top of his game right now and a good friend of mine with a very unique prototype above his head.
  19. Brian is an Excellent pilot and a good guy congrats my friend. wish i could have been there to make you work for it! Paul
  20. HEy Easy on the Redneck remarks!! at least i have all my fingers and teeth. it was a tough one with all the weather and everyone did great to stay safe . Thanks Paul
  21. hey folks i just wanted to say thanks for a great comp, once again the competition standards were rediculously high. Shimmel had one of the best comps i have seen him in. brian was his usual consistent self pulling ahead when others messed up. and ian did great still only coming up in fourth. this in my opinion just shows the high levels in this group. its like the world cup all over again. thanks to you guys especially for the support i was given with my new canopy and my early performance on it. but i warn you there is some distance still left in it!!! i cant wait till thomaston. paul
  22. thanks mark. one day i will learn how to do that magic that you do.
