  1. i competed at the second world cup in lake wales with a cascaded xaos 27. the cascaded lineset had some very different flying characteristics from the continuous. it definately improved speed and distance considerably. however. the center of gravity was way far forward making the front riser pressure very heavy compared the the same canopy with the continuous lineset. it also had alot of slack in the C & D lines. typical of early cascaded crossbraced canopies. it also had a shorter recovery arc , i moved my turn from 600' to 450'. it was for these reasons that i originally changed to the jvx. hope this helped.
  2. no i am talking about getting a lineset from the factory that has the blue coating
  3. i know mate! i keep calling it 300 for some stupid reason. if your talking about your blue coated line i dont have it on my current canopies but will have it on my next two that are arriving soon.
  4. i have been replacing my hma300 at around 450+ jumps but i guess i have more lines than you?!
  5. my jvx 92 fits really nicely ontop of a velo 96 but is shorter chordwise and slightly longer spanwise. if i was to have a very educated guess i would say they measure within inches of each other. weirdly tho my 96jvx was much bigger than the velo 103 i put it on top of. so who the hell knows? i just fly them sorry its off topic i went x braced at around 850jumps and was jumping full time (everyday) for the preceding few months before. did my first pst meet at 950 jumps and came 27th out of like 50 i think. did all my learning on sabre2 150. was swooping the shit out of it landing on rears carving the works.
  6. Bull@#$% chuck Hes MY boy!!! I was there first so wah!
  7. congrats D! you're the shiznit congrats Chris for putting on a great performance as always. And a big congrats to Chris and Michelle for tying the knot!! good job staying safe and with 24 competitors it seems to explain why all the champs come from the south east!!!
  8. assuming it is not you (because someone else experienced the same thing) it could be a combination of several factors or just one. anything from a legstrap to the harness to the risers or a very small individually unnoticable combonation of all things. solution: try the same canopy on a different container. you will soon find out where the problem lies and then either send the canopy or the container back for fixing. i have had a similar problem with a friend of mine complaining the canopy had a turn in it but when we put it on a different container the turn disappeared.
  9. hi i just spoke to Karl and apparently their internet and possibly server is down temporarily. just call 813 891 6300
  10. i put a lot of jumps on mambas and my wife ended up buying one for the great flare power as we jump a little above sea level and often make trips to higher elevated dropzones. the whole rear riser plaining out thing would be purely because of the steeper trim and longer recovery arc than the Xfire 2. when you get used to it you will realise that you actually have a much greater range of use on the rears giving you a better platform to fly rears with. but its like you said its just not what you are used to. both are great canopies and glad you had fun.
  11. although not all attempts have been successful
  12. I have sixteen cutaways on the mini force system doing back to back cutaways with normal rings verses the miniforce and they are noticably lighter and easier to cut away. i am a gym going 210 pound guy tho so i think this would really be beneficial to someone who doesnt want a harder cutaway. not really a solution to any problem but i would rather have it than not. but any system can be hard to cutaway if the cutaway cables are not cleaned regularly and properly maintained.
  13. very glad you are happy with the canopy. they are a big step up. be careful and have fun.
  14. I have gone thinner for many many jumps and i get more distance and speed as does everyone i have seen on the competition circuit. i am glad you are happy with the stock HMA from PD they are a great comprimise between performance and safety on the seven cell.
  15. The HMA line set from PD is a larger one (I believe around 550lb), What i am talking about is a competition set of the 300lb range which PD will not put on there stock canopies. If you break a line on the jvx you will have a spare line set sitting in your bag and you can hand the whole thing to your local rigger and have it back as soon as he is through with it. while you are on your second lineset you can order your new spare and have it ready for the next time you break a line. the zp jvx gets way more performance than the stock velo or vx. I got mine and two weeks later got first place at the PST swoop fest and a month later came second at the world cup with it. I have both an all sail and an all zp and a hybrid. the distances are all the same but the speed and flying characteristics are a little better on the all sail. as far as pack volume that is really about whether you want the decision to be made around what container you have or what is going to be the best canopy for you.
  16. as far as cost goes. to get a velo to perform similar distances to the JVX most people get an after market HMA line set (usually around $300). if you buy a JVX for 2500 bucks it comes with two sets. if you buy a velo then put two HMA line sets on it the cost is about the same as buying a JVX without sail material.
  17. I jump camera and freefly with my JVX all the time. the openings are fine for this, in fact i prefer them to the velo because they seak less than a velo but still open soft.
  18. He wanted to come first but ended up coming second............last!!! Ian it happens to the best of us but fortunately for you tho, anyone who has flown with you before knows that you are someone to watch out for in a comp! this goes for everyone, no experience in competition is a loss, as long as you learn from it.
  19. opens really nice. not slow and not hard is the best way i can describe it. doesnot snivel for as long as the velo but is still soft. tends to be much less seaking than any crossbraced i have jumped. i also jump a full RDS on everyjump and i got my RDS from Joe and mel
  20. 1600 ft 2.95 wingloading jvx 79 start double fronts finish harness i think its about 8sec in the dive
  21. a good friend of mine once said to me that he thought he knew everything there was to know about his canopy after 500jumps on it. later he said that he learned more in the second 500jumps on that canopy than he did on the first 500.
  22. Wow!!! see what happens when you listen to uncle paul?? very nice young asshoppa. i better get my act together or the student will become the master!!
  23. i would think at that altitude you would make it at least 125m long!!! especially with a machine like Rob around!!
  24. Try Calling 813 891 6300. its never rang more than twice before being answered for me.
