  3. QuoteYeah that's what I had heard too Jay. I can't lie and say that, selfishly, I hope it doesn't change this year. I have a selfish side that grees with you as well Ian. Because I would love to go compete as well, but I agree with the ideals of the plans for the minimum 100%. and the top 8 from last year are pretty damn strong. Al ************ Watch out for planters.
  4. It does seem that way stu. And pro's CAN win money at the meets. They pay the the same registration. To date the pro's have had a hard time beating the 'amatuers' with the handicap. ************ Watch out for planters.
  5. Pros can and do compete at these meets. Quite a few of them. There is a handicap system in place which let's the pros and amatuers compete side by side. Last year Isaiah, Scott roberts,Kaz, Tommy D, Johnny Zulianni, Chris Hayes, marat to name a few. This year all those and more, stu shoenfeld, Ian Drennan, Tyler Lawson, Brian Mcnenny. Rumors of chuck Owen, Joey day, junior, and Noah from the Atlanta area are yet confirmed. Let me know when your coming down! Al ************ Watch out for planters.
  6. I would pm one of these 3 people and let them talk you through your situation. # Aerodyne - EAaerodyne - "Bushman" Anderson # Aerodyne - KAaerodyne - Karl Meyer # Aerodyne - sanzlk - Sandy Kimball ************ Watch out for planters.

  8. I would recommend doing 1 of things 1. Let a gear store sell it. for a fee of 10-20% most major gear stores will sell your rig on a consignment basis. You don't have to post it, you don't have to qualify the buyer, you don't have to worry about being ripped off, etc. they can take care of everything. But you've obviously got to give them a portion of your money. 2. Use a dz, well known rigger, or well known skydiver as an intermediary. For a small fee or the opportunity to perform the repack, and main, and container inspection, some riggers will act as an intermediary for a sale. This way you give your rig to them, and the buyer gives them their money. The rigger(assuming he is an established one) has a reputation to uphold and is well seated somewhere. He can't steal your rig, or the buyers money and disapear. This provides security to you and the buyer. They both cost a little, but it usually makes the transaction run smooth and both options greatly decrease the risk of either of you getting ripped off. Al ************ Watch out for planters.
  9. Let make sure that we're not putting optimums that are too small into containers. The potential is there. Its a real case where, GO BIG or go home relates to something else. Nice to see it when people are selecting a reserve. ************ Watch out for planters.
  10. There you go Jeff, there are a lot of ideas that have carried from old model all F1-11 that don't relate to modern canopy engineering using using low perosity fabric. The Pilot and Slihouette are prime examples. ************ Watch out for planters.
  11. but after flying my main and reading your comments, i dont want to fly the reserve until i absolutley have to! Hey Jeremy, I know exactly what you mean. generally speaking, reserves are not that much fun to fly. But I would highly recommend demoing your reserve. Now I don't mean chopping for fun. Wheather your getting ready to buy, or learning the characteristics of the reserve you already bought. Most manufacturers offer reserves set up as mains so you can experience the flight characteristics of the canopy. Chances are the first time you fly your reserve you may: Be in an emergency situation. Extremely stressed. Disoriented, from spinning/opening/or just the fact that its your first reserve ride. Landing off. At a lower altitude than normal Little or no time to judge where to land, what direction the wind is blowing? How does this 7 cell F1-11 canopy turn? How does it flare? If you have the opportunity to demo your reserve, hooked up like a main, many of these concerns may be anwsered or at least you'll be a little more relaxed in that extremely stressful moment. 12. Hey Alex, I would start here http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Gear_and_Equipment/index.shtml there a few articles on what to look for when buying your first rig. Al ************ Watch out for planters.
  13. I currently use the slider from PEA Engineering and am very happy with it. It works great, I've had 2 somewhat unperfect openings over the last 2 years(500+ jumps) with it due to packing error on my part(complacent and misrouted the lanyard, stupid me). Suprisingly still managed to run the course during competition. Scott has been available and handled any customer issues I've had(and boy do I have issues;-). Timely responses to emails, available to customers, and competitive price. I'd buy a third, but what the heck would I need a third slider for?!?!? Al ************ Watch out for planters.
  14. Ditto for me, over the last 4 years that i've been jumping them Ive had to send 2 back. they were painlessly replaced with new ones. I wear 2 at a time for competition swooping. Hint: make sure you register it online! ************ Watch out for planters.
  15. thanks chris!!!! ************ Watch out for planters.
  16. Hey does anyone have these scores? getsum is down and I'm looking for them. yes, I know this is old. ************ Watch out for planters.
  17. 2 rounds of accuracy and 1.5 rounds of distance. We're waiting out the strong winds right now. and meeting back in 15 minutes to see if they calm down to try and finish up today. ************ Watch out for planters.
  18. Both rigs have pro's and cons. Deciding which one is the rig for you is deciding what is important to you and which features you like. They look and operate differently. which one do you prefer? There are a few articles up on this site giving you things to look at. Look, fit, features, wait times, price, etc You may want to take a good look at the harness on both. The harnesses on those containers are very different. Some people love the voodoo harness, others find it very uncomfortable. you will also notice that on the voodoo you tend to "hang" from a higher point on your shoulder than on a Javelin. this makes the harness feel quite different IMHO. I prefer the Javelin for its comfort, functionality, skyhook and long standing reputation. But do your homework and make your own decision. ************ Watch out for planters.
  19. Come on!!! what??? thats what the competition manual says. ************ Watch out for planters.
  20. From the USPA competition manual.... Classes 1. Open Class: Competitors with the most experience and who have met the highest qualifications 2. Intermediate Class: Competitors who are not qualified to compete in the Open class I'm sure that clears it up!! ************ Watch out for planters.
  21. Dont know, But July 21-22 will be their 50th Anniversery Casa boogie. I'm packing up all the PD canopies and were bringing the PD tour up for this weekend. See you there! Albert Berchtold Performance Designs ************ Watch out for planters.
  22. There were many great performances this weekend. Team Fastrax taking 4 of the top 9 slots is something that hs been overlooked. Their showing was very consistent as a team and individually excellent as well. For an "individual" event it makes you wonder...... ************ Watch out for planters.
  23. I met Dale this season at CPC events around Florida. To me Dale was a smiler. He was a happy person. Granted, I didnt know him for years, ever see him outside of the skydiving or social arena, but everything I saw about him was happy. I can't even picture him today without a smile on his face. Sunday, We were painfully reminded how unforgiving and dangerous our sport can be. Swoops Up Dale, Keep on Smiling down on us. We'll miss you buddy. ************ Watch out for planters.
  24. Have you been in square 3? they will be able to give you options, steer you towards what you need now, while keeping in mind what you will want for the future. they are experienced in measuring, and will make sure your suit fits properly when it comes in. And it wont cost you a penny more than if you screwed up the measurements and sent them to the manufacturer your self. Many manufacturers do measurements different than others. Good luck and have fun!!! Al G ************ Watch out for planters.
  25. I am currently jumping PEA sliders as well. I wouldn't hesitate to give one to my mother, even though she wouldnt know what to do with a slider let alone a $300 removable one?!? The design does some things I have failed to see from many other after market manufacturers. It provides a design that closely resembles that of the sliders the canopy was engineered and tested to open above, one with the grommets inside the perimeter of the border. Second the designs seems to be much less suseptible to manufacturing flaws than other designs. Proof is in the results though, personally I've never been smacked by one or had a cut away with it on, and thats what I jump on both my rigs. Like Sex over my head.......... ************ Watch out for planters.
