  1. Is there anything online for the weekend preceeding the Ranch meet? Aug 18-19 I'd consider hanging in the northeast for a week to do both. Having a swoop event with Tiki Bar weekend would be pretty cool, but I think you'll loose quite a few to the PST/CPC event ************ Watch out for planters.
  2. We finished all 6 rounds, the meet was very technical with heavy crosswind. Chris will be posting the scores shortly. Gold Coast took 1st and 2nd. Shatalov from the ranch in 3rd. ************ Watch out for planters.
  3. I agree with what is above, do your research on each. Demo away, look at what you want out of the canopy today, and where you want to go with it in the future. Do your homework on the different companies. And most of all, enjoy the search, your here to skydive and have fun(I assume) so learn and enjoy the canopies for each of their strongpoints. ************ Watch out for planters.
  4. FAQ's and Flight characteristics are up on the PD website for those interested. www.performancedesigns.com ************ Watch out for planters.
  5. As the sizing will vary from one container manufacturer to the next. PD will not dictate which size Optimum will fit in which model container. We will roughly say that most containers will fit 1-2 sizes larger reserve when comparing to the traditional PDR. We are providing samples to container manufacturers as they are requested so they will be able to produce charts for sizing. The Flight Characteristics, and FAQ's are now up on the PD website for those who would like to take a peek. Many of your questions will be answered there. www.performancedesigns.com ************ Watch out for planters.
  6. the MSRP on the Optimum is $1,380. Based on the limited quantities that may be available and the fact that this is a premium reserve being added on to the product line, not replacing the PD Reserve, we are not anticipating to see much discounting on this canopy by dealers. But like Mark said, well worth the money. they open, fly and land like no reserve I've ever tried. ************ Watch out for planters.
  7. Looks like you getting some good advice. When considering what model canopy to go with I would suggest consulting with people who know your abilities, doing your homework, deciding your future goals and how agressive of a canopy you want now, and may want to move to in the future. Demo, Demo, Demo! Performance Designs, Aerodyne, and Icarus along with a few others have demo programs here in the US so that you can "fly before you buy". Take advantage of them. A side note, be honest with yourself on your fitness level. A fit 240 is quite different than an out of shape 240. Good luck in your search. Al If you want any additional info, please feel free to PM me. ************ Watch out for planters.
  8. Art and Jeff are great people. Palatka has a great group of jumpers from the college clubs to the regulars and very friendly atmosphere. I live in Deland, but find myself in Palatka to relax sometimes and make fun jumps. ************ Watch out for planters.
  9. There may be reviews from internal sources/test jumpers/contributors on prototypes of the PD RDS, but as the market is just beginning to see the final release there arent many opions floating around about the final release. Let us know what you think once you've had a chance to jump one. Your right about weight of the rings, in that there are many variables that can persuade the opening characteristics, durability of the slider, deterioration of lines and other attributes of the equipment. Lets just hope someone around here wins that lottery!!!!! ************ Watch out for planters.
  10. Fully Loaded Javelin Odyssey with the kick ass dive loops and most comfortable harness on the market; PD126 "*&%$#" reserve(the new one) that open like a reserve and flies like a main; a PD(of course) Velocity 96 with 500 HMA lines because they last longer than 300 and humm like a baby on the park bench, the new PD RDS that opens and releases like a dream; the most comfortable helmet for my head, the Nvertigo X; and with the lottery comes the cash to skydive with all my friends, and pay for their jumps on my own new private DZ!!!!!! ************ Watch out for planters.
  11. Agreed, Have someone show you how to pack it, and more importantly, how NOT to pack it. Hooking up the slider incorrectly, or misrouting the lanyard would seem to be the easiest ways of causing a malfunction. Develop good discipline in your packing routine and the risk greatly decreases. ************ Watch out for planters.

  15. So were packing up the RV with windblades, the big a@$ tents, pull up cords, and all the demo canopies we can find and...PD IS COMING TO Z-HILLS!!!! Isaiah, Kim, Kolla and myself are bringing the toys out for a spectacular weekend at Z-Hills. If your interested in trying out a Sabre2, Katana(yes we'll have the big ones), Spectre, SilhouetteVelocity, or your reserve, this will be the place to be!!! See you there Albert ************ Watch out for planters.
  16. Nice, Isaiah thinks he's hot shit, I'm with Kim. Team Beautiful is going down. ************ Watch out for planters.
  17. I have seen this "cat" you speak of. It is a large cat that is well worth putting on the schedule. ************ Watch out for planters.
  18. That hardly does justice to what they were doing. that footage was shot with HC1's, the Hi Deff vid is very entertaining. coming soon. ************ Watch out for planters.
  19. see you in a few weeks chris, lets do this, I'm a cashew. ************ Watch out for planters.
  20. It's getting chilli in the morning and the sun is coming up later, so we'll be starting swoop club at 7:00am rather than 6:00am $14 per jump for 10 jumps Coaching and video debrief by Jimmy Tranter of CK1 for $1 per jump. wether your working on high performance landings or just trying to stand up this is a great opportunity to hone your canopy skills. Pre Registration highly recommended Nex 2 shceduled camps are: September 19th September 26th ************ Watch out for planters.
  21. fallin, There are cheaper options or you can stick with Mirage if you like. Velocity sports sells them for about $110. But generally speaking, they are an interchangible part. Couple things to consider- 1. the attachment for risers to container is a 3 ring system which come in 2 sizes. Large and Mini rings. make sure you get the right size. 2. Stainless steel or Not? vanity mostly. both are very functional. 3. Make sure you tell if you have an RSL or not so they can put the ring on 1 of the risers. 4. Get Velcroless risers. pretty amazing that someone would argue otherwise. 5. length is the next issue. if your tall get maybe 22" if your short get 18" average is about 20 on a Mirage I believe. 6. standard is Black, make sure you mention if you want other than that. If you've got any questions you can PM me and I'll help you. Al ************ Watch out for planters.
  22. Overall results- Open- 1st-Shannon Pilcher 2nd- Ian Bobo 3rd-Johnathan Tagle Intermediate 1st- Albert Berchtold 2nd- Clark Hung 3rd- Mark Kruse detailed scores to come... ************ Watch out for planters.
  23. Distance is done, Tom Delibac puts up the highest score in round 1 and verts round 2. Johnathan Tagle puts up a 93.7. and we're on to accuracy. the boardwalk is full of spectators crowded between the 2 piers where the competition is going on. ************ Watch out for planters.
  24. So we've finished speed, 3 rounds for intermediate, 2 rounds for open. the last round for open may be done tomorrow given the weather. we're on to distance. no major crashes or verts in open. Mark Kruse from intermediate took a splash in round 2. ************ Watch out for planters.
  25. Sunday 9:51 practice jumps are on the chopper just took off with the PD team its sunny with light winds. kind of muddy around the pond but will get better as the sun dries it out. ************ Watch out for planters.
