  2. the breathing one is a classic.. an old FAQ that was 90 truth and 10% complete bullshit was around in the early 90's and for breathing, it explained that our skin folds in freefall so that it could absorb more oxymen by osmosis, hence we dindt need to breathe... and that "factoid" made it to the main meadia last year in a nbc news bit.. lol Remi Muff 914

  8. In the UK, every jumper must wear a hook knife. A bit anal if you ask me, but a reasonable rule. Ands as far as CReW dawgs, I've seen guys with 5 knives on them, and not hook knives either: real kick-ass hunting knives.... Remi Muff 914

  10. I asked PD about how often should lines be replaced, here is their Cust. Service Rep Kolla's answer: " On the Stiletto, most people find out that it's time for a reline when the canopy starts to behave a little bit odd - either on the openings, landings or in general response to toggle input. Also, if the lines start to look worn or frayed it might be time to replace them. On average people with 825 get anywhere from 400 to 700 jumps on their linesets - even more. People with 550 normally get a little bit fewer jumps between each reline, anywhere from 300-600. However, that number is quite individual, and depends on the wingloading the canopy is flown at, the environment you jump in and the general care you take of your equipment :) " Remi Muff 914
  11. From what I remember, Capilene is the TM of "Patagonia" for some on of their fabrics. Its a heavier weight fabric then Poly pro. You can get normal or heavier Polypro without paying the extra money you need to have the Patagonia logo by getting "Lifa". Any outdoor or hunting store should have the Lifa products. Silk does not have as good wicking properties as Polypro. Plus its more expensive, plus its a bitch to wash. Remi Muff 914

  16. Risks are minimized. Not eliminated. This is why a new jumper will have to sign a waiver before jumping. There is a risk (small, but real) of injury or death. Remi Muff 914
