  1. That's kindof like saying murder is murder. Well how about self defense or reckeless manslaughter. Huge deference between those two than premeditated murder. To me there is a difference when you specifically target and choose someone because of skin color, sexual orientation, religion, etc. Also look at racial crimes, usually they are more violent and gruesome than regular spur of the moment crimes. I saw pictures of the black man that was dragged over 1/4 mile in Texas and one of them specifically said: "lets find ourselves a n$%#r to kill." They dragged the poor man till his arms were stumps. It's a hard subject to define, I mean what constitutes a hate crime. A simple bar brawl between a white guy and gay guy wouldn't be one. But specifically going into a bar, picking up a gay guy, beating him with a gun, tying him to a fence and leaving him there to die should.
  2. Hey congrats man! Some of those pictures look scary has hell.
  3. Goodbye to him...I feel sorry for Nancy. How long were they married?
  4. Hey Vanillia, Vibes out to you. I'm kindof in the same boat you are. I was gonna go to Bridge the gap, but ended up spending my friday night at the hospital due to some severe food poisoning. I dont feel that well either so no jumping this weekend. My landings also SUCK. Ever since I busted my arm, I'm having some issues. I'll take the Canopy Course at Elsi this month though. Vibes out to you and hope you feel better.
  5. Yeah, you're right. I'm sure this movie will be 100% accurate with no speech taken out of context nor crafty editing just like all of his other accurate movies. What was I thinking. What documentary is 100% accurate? Show me one that is 100% accurate. I've seen a lot and everyone is skewed a bit. How many of his movies have you seen? I don't agree or believe 100% what he says, but he has brought up valid point in some of his previous movies. And he is one of the few people willing to stand up and say "hey look at this. What about this? Maybe this is wrong." Maybe people hate him so much because he brings up issues that make you think and say, "maybe we need to change this." I saw Bowling and thought that some things were BS but he also made some valid points. Especially what Marlyn Manson said, or how they portrayed one student as a walking armory. The kid was pulling out more guns, knives and weapons than a weapons store. Is that the way most HS students go to school. I mean come on, or how about that part where the cop is slapping around a student that is on the ground. Yeah those are hard things to see, but they did happen.
  6. Yeah Pope also believes in no birth control ie use of condoms etc, is against the death penalty and takes strong stand on certain issues. The poor guy's 83years old and with Parkinsons I really dont think he knows much of what is going on the last few years, even the whole Priest and sexual abuse scandal Overall he has led an intresting life. Some parts of me are glad he received this award, others are not too happy about it. Here's an intresting brief history of him http://www.fact-index.com/p/po/pope_john_paul_ii.html
  7. He should be in jail for the rest of his life. Agreed. I guess they have bigger fish to fry like Martha Stewart.
  8. Yep it's happened to me. Kiteboarding, went up for a jump and well didn't land it. Impact knocked the wind out of me and I was seing stars. Took well over a month to heal. Glad you're OK though, it couldve been worse.
  9. Sad and scary. Brings to mind what some great people have said about freedom: "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln "Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again." Ronald Reagan "Those who would give up essential liberties for temporary security deserve neither liberty nor security." Ben Franklin
  10. You mean like Salieri in Amadeus? I think Gizmo might be a good name for him.
  11. Read this before opening the picture. Imagine that you are a South African bush pilot. You fly in some critical medical supplies, enjoy a quick lunch at the hospital. It's a stifling 100 degrees F in the shade and you're eager to get back up to the cool, high blue yonder. On the way back to your plane, you discover that the only bit of shade within a mile has become very popular... You start calculating the distance to the plane door....... and wonder ... do I feel lucky today?
  12. Glad you're OK. I caught a misrouted strap a few months back, right as jumper was getting ready to exit. Wigged me out more than it did him.
  13. I love this admin, "We don't know when, we dont know where, we dont know by whom, but we are in grave danger of another attack." How many times have they said that same thing, followed by, "We cant give out the source, nor do we want to start a panic." IMHO the threat this summer is in Athens. 1.Olympic games being held there add that most of the buildings are still under construction way behind schedule, 2. poor track record of dealing with domestic and intl terrorist, and 3. they have many domestic radical groups that could be easily influenced and seek support from AQ.
  14. OMG Dr.StrangeLove what an awesome movie. How many roles did sellers' play, God just thinking about that movie makes me bust up. The random "sieg heils" by the Dr. is classic. No way Martin could play that many roles, no way in hell. Anyone ever seen The Party? Another classic. I would have a fit if Hollywood decided to remake Strangelove.
  15. Big time Sellers' fan here. Got a little annoyed when I read the following: http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/07/martin.panther.reut/ I love Steve Martin, just dont think you can improve on the Edwards'/Sellers' dou that made The Pink Panther such a classic.
  16. Well he did. It's in the notes of a doctor who was treating him. He didn't say it at the court itself, IIRC. Did you read that book, The Nurember Diary? It's an awesome book and very insightfull. Goering's quote sent a chill down my spine when I first read it in the Diary because its true and has worked and will always work. Nazi's were evil incarnate, but they understood human nature better than any other regimes in history.
  17. Couldn't agree more. Put them on trial and throw them in jail for the rest of their lives, let them rot and fade away from peoples minds and histroy. Killing them might turn them into martyrs.
  18. Why do people insist on thinking humans shouldn't fit into the rules of Darwinism like the rest of the animals? That's a bit extreme though. I mean if we were to following Darwinism blind kids would be euthanised at bith as well as any genetic abnormal human being with any traits that would be detrimental to our species. Stephen Hawkings wouldn't, shouldn't be alive according to Darwin.
  19. Just curious do DZs buy their fuel like some airlines do at future prices?
  20. He should get filthy rich off of this one.... I dont know of any lawasuit in such a case where the released has gotten a settlement. Still how much is 30 years of your freedom worth?
  21. Tough kid who kept his cool: http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/South/05/20/alligator.attack.ap/index.html
  22. My apologies if it came off in the wrong manner. In my theology class in college the Jesuit prof went over Leviticus and his take on it was not what I thought it would be and was very enlightening.
  23. Man you hit that nail on the head! I knew there was something else to the meaning of Back Street Boys or NSYNC whatever gay band he came out of. And he is dating Diaz...aggghhhhh. It aint fair I tell you, it's not fair.
  24. Sure, I've got religious reasons why I think the sanctity of marriage should be maintained and protected by defining it as only between one man and one woman. However, the defense of it will not ride on religious reasons and it doesn't need to. As for the Bible, however, it clearly defines homosexuality as wrong and also clearly describes the proper family unit ordained by God himself. The Bible also defines other wrongs that are routinely ignored. The passages used the most to protect marriage are in Leviticus: 18:22 and 20:13. How about all the other 'rules' laid down in Leviticus? Example: Leviticus 11:1-12, where all unclean animals are forbidden as food, including rabbits, pigs, and shellfish, such as oysters, shrimp, lobsters, crabs, clams, and others that are called an "abomination." Leviticus 20:25 demands that "you are to make a distinction between the clean and unclean animal and between the unclean and clean bird; and you shall not make yourself an abomination by animal or by bird or by anything that creeps on the ground, which I have separated for you as unclean." Leviticus 19:19 forbids mixed breeding of various kinds of cattle, sowing various kinds of seeds in your field or wearing "a garment made from two kinds of material mixed together." This ones my favorite: Leviticus 20: 10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death It's hypocritical when some quote Leviticus as the end all be all regarding same sex marriage, yet completely disregard the other passages.
  25. My son has just been recalled from 2nd Inf (Korea) to go to Iraq. I don't believe in God, but here are some vibes to keep your son Kallend and you Ron alive and well over there.
