  1. First Jump: Oct 5, 2003. First Post : Nov 3, 2003. Down Time Due to Injury : Over 3 months. Most Important lesson learnt : Respect the elements. Jumps to Date : 399 Skydiving goals for the next year : Learn to fly stable in a slot specific flock. Do a 4 and a half min skydive. Get current in Freeflying jumps. Learn to fly head down. In the next 5 years. I hope to be able to do WS BASE jumps off of some of the Big walls in Europe. Kris.
  2. 1) I don't think that a majority of the BASE jumpers are extreme athletes. I don't think people who see that show will line up to take FJCs. 2) If a lot of people go in, the media will have a field day and BASE jumping will get a lot of negative attention. The show was what it was, the story of a BASE jumper. It was pretty well done. Kris.
  3. Did you mean sub 30 averages? That is over 4 min skydives from 13.5K pulling at 3K. In an S1?? Kris.
  4. I am with you on this one. It ain't gonna happen. Kris.
  5. You forgot to mention that Bob did an awesome Birdman recurrency dive. That video was cool to watch. Kris.
  6. 13 jumps this weekend. That puts me at one short of 400. Did two plane Birdman flocks on Sunday. Amazing weekend altogether. Flew with Loic (of Soulflyers) on Saturday and Sunday at the Deland Birdman Bigways. Some of the videos of the experienced group flying on Friday were amazing. Loic and Perry were hanging out for almost 20 secs after the rest of the group had opened. Kris.
  7. It was an awesome weekend. I learnt a lot. Thanks a lot everyone!! Great Job Ray!! and see you this weekend. I already booked my tickets. Loic and Kathy are at Deland guys, come fly with them. Kathy said they are there this weekend(12/10-12/12) also. Kris.
  8. Either should work. I have had a Neptune since jump 2 and I have had no issues. I think the version that they had back then works well enough. The question is do you want to pay $400 for a protrack plus jumptrack or $300 for a neptune plus paralog. Kris.
  9. What about safe aerobatics in tight formation with others? Glen That is for the Pros. You should have seen Loic, Ed, Perry, Chuckie and others doing some of that stuff this weekend. Kris.

    S-Fly

Pros Build: The suit is built of tough material(made by salomon), much tougher than ZP. The build quality is superb. Ease of use: Hook up is a breeze, four zippers and the suit is on the rig. Getting into the suit is hard because of the single zipper in the front. Using a chair or couch to wear the suit and rig makes things easier. Flying: I have only been able to put 7 jumps on this suit since I received it(Nov 2004). The suit is very stable and comfortable to fly. The arm position also makes it less tiring to fly when compared to my SF3 or GTI. The suit is atleast as good as the GTI, I make this statement from seat of the pants feel rather than actual numbers from a logging device. As I get that information, I will update this review.
  11. K good. Just what I was hoping you'd say. It gets really boring after a while. I recently learnt how to get that forward speed really going and that is fun. Ofcourse the real fun is being able to fly in a tight formation with others. Kris.
  12. Do you know of any that will fit me? 5'11" and 155 pounds. Have you checked the stock at Birdman ?
  13. I think when people(and highly experienced people have used the term angle of attack...look at Hans-solos post and videos in the BASE forum, And read Vesa's post(link in my previous post). They specifically said high angle of attack.) I think they meant relative to the horizon. That is why according to them a high angle produces a faster forward speed. Yeah, I did not know the definition of angle of attack. . Kris
  14. I need money, Ed. You want further explanation?
  15. Maybe he'll sell you the V1 as fast as he dumped the S Fly? Ed I am not dumping the S-Fly. I love it. I am selling it because I need the money. I also ordered a new BASE rig. blah, blah, blah..... Kris.
  16. I started playing with angle of attack on the last jump. From a maxed out position I started to slowly increase the angle of attack. The 20 sec period I have marked on the plot is the part where I was experimenting with angle of attack. I have GPSed a few of my jumps and have flown as fast as 120 mph forward speed but the sensation and visuals of speed I felt during this period was like nothing I have experienced before. I think that a high angle of attack provides more forward speed because the relative wind is coming at the glide angle, a higher angle of attack provides, lesser resistance to the relative wind and accounts for a higher forward speed. Because the surface provided to the vertical is reduced, fall rate will be more than when flying parallel to the horizon. The reason you reached farther might have to do with wingloading more than anything else. Want to post height weight for the jumpers involved? Edited to added: Also check this post by vesa. Kris.
  17. I checked with Robi and he apologizes for the delay on the website, there have been some technical problems He hopes to have everything sorted by tomorrow
  18. Weather here Wednesday afternoon is looking like shit, bunch of crap rolling in. I'm ready to fly
  19. I have and Kathy at Morpheus said she had about 6 other tentative orders. You know who you are, so speak up. Kris.
  20. I meant Aluminized Pink as in Aluminized Silver that Birdman offers, and I think Jari likes that color(Aluminized Silver that is). If you PMS girls ask Jari, he may introduce an Aluminized Pink just for you folks. Kris.
