It was the Fan Man, James Miller. He hung himself up in Alaska last year. He was the one who landed in the fight, and on top of Buckingham Palace. He also flew into a Broncos/Raider game, and a soccer match. Sad ending for the guy. Shawn _________________

OK, So after reading thru the post regarding the number of girls vs. guys who jump, it got me wondering, how many dating skydiving couples are there out there? I'm talking two active skydivers who meet thru skydiving, at their DZ. Does this go on a lot now, or is it considered something along the lines of dating at work? (Not such a good idea). Casual hookups don't apply! Shawn _________________

I quit a couple of months ago, so far, so good. If you work with someone who smokes, go up to them right after they come back from a smoke break. I would then tell myself, there's no way in HELL I want to smell like that! Hang in there! Shawn _________________

You might be amazed what you can do with PP these days, there is even a national competition now for them. They can still suffer from collapses though from severe turbulence, but part of the training you get is how to recover from these. Most rigid wing ultralights these days fly with a ballistic reserve just in case, that brings both the aircraft and the pilot down. Shawn _________________

That's how they do them here too, bud, and they announced the day before Thanksgiving that 650 are to be given the boot over the next year. So now we got 12 months to wonder if you are going to make the cut or not... Screw em! Time to move on to bigger and better things! Shawn _________________

Hi Adam, I have been flying hang gliders and paragliders for 11 years now, and before that, was a skydiving junkie for 12. I have recently begun jumping again also. Probably the main reason I got away from skydiving and went to paragliding was my personal schedule. I started working a job that required me to work weekends, and it just got too frustrating driving 90 minutes to the DZ on weekdays and waiting several hours to hopefully make up a Cessna load. Paragliding gave me the opportunity to fly however much I wanted on my own, whenever weather conditions allowed. Paragliding is much more weather dependant. If the wind is blowing more than a few degrees crosswind on launch, or too hard, you're staying on the ground. As far as adreneline goes, skydiving equates to a mainline hypo, while paragliding is more of an IV drip in most cases. But as stated earlier, it is what you make it. It can also be as expensive as you want to make it, you can fly ridge lift sites all day with minimal equipment, land next to your car and go home. Or, you can decide on cross country flying, buy the varios, radios, gps, gas and driver to chase you and make it twice as expensive as skydiving! Either way, both are an awesome sport. I must say though that skydiving DOES have the tighter knit community. I know plenty of awesome people that I fly with PG/HG, but never have I found that sense of family I experienced at a DZ. Anyway, I don't mean to recommend one over the other. But there are a lot of other things to consider besides cost. Whichever one ends up being the best fit for you, the financial end of it will end up being the least consideration. As far as Lodi goes, it was and IS still my home DZ, and I can't say enough good about Bill and Kathy. Cya! Shawn _________________
