  1. Uh oh! Now everyone knows what 'the Hippo' looks like. You'll have Nick DG round your house breaking your windows. DTM.
  2. If it climbs like a hippo, lands like a hippo and smells like a hippo- then it's a hippo! DTM.
  3. Right on Ken! Us legends have got to stick together! Wait till i tell my mother that i'm a 'legend,' i think the conversation will probably go:- "Mother, did you know that i'm a legendary base jumper?" "Daniel, don't you think you're getting a bit old to be jumping off of buildings in the middle of the night?" "Yes mother..." laters. DTM. (legend.) Ps. Good advice from mr TVPB. Usual bollox from Sabre 210.
  4. To all the Hungarian crew- Really sorry to hear about your man Csaba. ( met him and most of you at the boogie last year.) Dan-the-Man. To everyone else- stop fucking bitching!

  11. Will be in florida 18-28th february. Starting at dz at sebastian, but will be travelling around, probably miami, tampa... Would be nice to maybe hook up with any locals and get something jumped. Pretty flexible on objects and heights. Maybe do some of the high cliffs and tall bridges i've been told about.... Spread the love. Dan-the-Man.
  12. Recently took the girlfriend to meet the parents. My mother proceeded to embarass her 'macho, adrenaline junkie, living life on the edge' son by getting out the baby photos and old school reports... Looking through the report of an 8 year old 'Dan-the-Man' (dan-the-boy in those days), we came across:- Physical Education- He is very keen on climbing and jumping. What a perceptive teacher. Spread the love. DTM. (not saying what year that report was from.)
  13. Don't bother coming to essex if you love virgins. The only reason Jesus wasn't born in essex is because they couldn't find 3 wise men and a virgin called mary... DTM.
  14. I try not to get too caught up in the 'classification of objects' debate; to me they are all basejumps. At an early stage of my base career someone (can't even remember who) stated that you could only class the object as an A if it had guy wires. I adhere to that school of thought for the reason that avoiding the wires singles this object out from the others; you have to consider wind speed and direction, your exit point, delay, canopy control, dealing with off heading openings. I have jumped many freestanders and pylons and can fully appreciate the argument for calling them A's, but for me -no. I posted on the British base board a while back under the title 'to B or not to B,' asking the same question about B's. Some people call gastowers, cooling towers, chimnies, cranes on top of buildings, silos B's. Personally, i like to keep things simple; if you jumped a dam ( for example) and called it a B, would you jump a building and call it a dam? Laters. DTM. PS. Last night/early this morning i jumped objects 102 and 103, a chimney and a building- that's an O, and a B, not an A and a B, or 2B's. Like i said previously 'me, me, me, me, me...'
  15. B's -18 A's - 13 (only include one's with guy wires.) S's - 12 E's - 17 O's - 43 103 objects, 350 jumps. Spread the love. Dan-the-Man.
  16. Not sure how many objects opened, Neil and i were on a mission for a while and did quite a few; done a few with the 'hippo' as well now-i'll go thru log book and try to work it out(then i'll double it...)Maybe opened 2 sunday/monday? Arrested-2 Busted by police but let off-2 Quizzed by police but blagged it-several Nights in jail-1 Of those 347 jumps, 114 has been off my local object. No i never get bored basejumping even if i've done that object many times, there are always new things to try; but i love the buzz of a new object, especially going into to it completely cold. For me Buildings at night get me really juiced up!! It's true that if it wasn't for Koleshaker i wouldn't have done as much , but, i'm sure he would be the first to admit that if it wasn't for me he wouldn't have done so much.( although he does do the odd solo...) Laters. DTM.
  17. The more basejumpers i meet and the more i read of what they have to say on their websites, the more obvious it is to me that they are a bunch of selfish, self righteous, opinionated, arrogant, adrenaline junkies, who use their websites purely as vehicles to advertise the fact that they jump off of 'fixed objects.' I've jumped this and i've jumped that, i've jumped here and i've jumped there etc.etc. But, i don't claim to be any different, so here goes. Last sunday/monday i did my 346th basejump.(also did 345 and 347, but 346 is the subject of this post.) In the great scheme of things, not an earth shattering event; maybe if this was 1985 rather than 2005 i would be considered a 'base god,' but nowadays with jumpers owning multiple rigs, being almost full time jumpers and with more and more legal events around the world annually, the number of jumpers breaking the 1000 jump barrier seems to be increasing exponentially. So what's this post all about i hear you ask- well i'll tell you; jump 346 was my 100th object, again not that remarkable but for a part timer, not too bad an achievement. The jump itself was quite straightforward, a 400 ft crane, but getting to the exit point was a mission-24 hour security, getting into the site, accessing the building, getting up inside the building then transfering across to the crane, then landing in the road- but 'went the day(night)well.' Big thanks to 'the hippo' for keeping me company on this(and many other)soirees, and for keeping me entertained with his altercation with a lampost (silly place to put it anyway, right there on the pavement next to the road...) Did i forget to mention that basejumpers are also kind, considerate, generous, modest, good looking, sexy, blah blah blah... Spread the love. Dan-the-Man. PS. me, me, me, me, me, it's all about me...

    Neil Q...

Should have written this post over a month ago but didn't feel in the mood... On october 5th last year my friend, jump buddy and wing man fell while climbing to an exit point on a cliff in thailand. On october 5th this year a group of his friends and jump buddies met an the pylon where he and i did our first jumps 4.5 years earlier.. Unfotunately the wind was howling, so the big way tribute i had in mind wasn't possible. 3 of us jumped (pca's from the middle) so all was not lost. Thanks to everyone who was there. Neil Queminet- a good man. Laters. Dan-the-Man
  19. I know of an elephant that has over 200 jumps, mostly 2ways but also a few solos- He's mad for it. 'Power to the Pachyderms!'
  20. Highest- Kjerag 3000ft? Lowest- Gas tower in london 130ft (s/l) Got busted doing gas tower by 3 policeman patrolling streets who saw me jump, but when asked they admitted that i looked good... Dan-the-Man.
  21. It's not always the right decision to walk away, but it's never the wrong one... Spread the love. Dan-the-Man.
  22. Going to a dz just south of madrid in a couple of weeks, was wondering if there's anything to jump in that part of the world? Jumping from planes is fun, but... Dantheman.
