  1. Google Skyride and use the "search" function here on dz.com. They are a company that acts as a booking agent but they have very shady business practices. If the GC was paid for by credit card file a dispute with them and try to get your money back. You'll never get anything out of Skyride.
  2. The other very possible cause is that the RSL was connected to one of the 3 rings (probably one of the 2 smaller ones) instead of the RSL ring on the riser. This would cause the 3 ring release to not be able to undo itself and release the riser properly.
  3. What would have happened if they would have lost the other engine on the way back to the airport? Now there's no one to get the students out safely.
  4. Or play the lottery. Hell I'd play it anyway.
  5. The Perris link doesn't work. Try this one instead... http://www.skydiveperris.com/

  8. Isn't this situation why we teach students aircraft emergency procedures (bail out on your main or bail out on your reserve) in the FJC?

    Good Deal?

That would be a great deal even without them not charging you if you need to repeat the next aff level. $240 for 10 minutes = $24 per minute which is about what a regular jump slot costs. Not to mention you're getting a coach. Do it!
  10. I see some inherent (sp?) problems with building a tunnel on a barge. I believe that that became the NJ territory that is currently reserved (because of NYC permit issues plus technical issues being on a barge). I also can't see SV allowing an open ended territory agreement to exist because they aren't going to make any additional money until the tunnel is built. I wonder what the cost of the territory agreement and the cost of the tunnel + construction (minus land costs) is? Anyone have any ideas?
  11. Jumper is barrel rolling while deploying is 1 way that you could get wrapped in your lines while deploying. There are an endless number of ways the jumper can become entangled in the lines. Does it happen frequently, no, but the possibility still exists.
  12. I do believe that the 3 pull priorities are 1. PULL 2. Pull at the correct altitude 3. Pull at the correct altitude while stable Altitude over stability ALWAYS or you may spend your last feet getting stable.
  13. But it says it's a reserved territory so I highly doubt SV would allow another entity to come in and build one in the same area, unless that new entity buys out territory or there is a time limit in the contract.
  14. According to the SkyVenture website there are already plans for 2 10' tunnels in NJ at a shopping/entertainment complex. http://www.skyventure.com/tunnellocations/default.aspx Check under "Reserved Territories"
  15. Welcome to the forums and the sky. When you need to relax just take a deep breath, let it out and arch. I know it's easy for us to tell you to relax. Don't worry, it'll happen. Good luck on your next jump!
  16. In addition to the currency jump many DZs will either have you sit through a refresher course or work one on one with a coach/instructor to review things like malfuctions, emergency procedures, landing patterns, etc. You should plan on paying some for the currency jump (and refresher if they deem it necessary) since it does require time from a coach/instructor.
  17. If your jump numbers are correct in your profile you're very close to your B license. Get your water training in, take your B license test. Hopefully you've been working on your accuracy landings for your B (landed within 10 meters of target center on 10 jumps). Unfortunately, some DZs are more cliquey than others. One thing you should do when you visit a different DZ is ask at manifest to speak to an instructor or coach to get a DZ briefing. This gives you the opportunity to meet at least one person on a "professional" level. When they are done going over the DZ brief (landing pattern, aerial photo, outs, aircraft procedures, exit order, etc) ask them if they could introduce you to someone that you could jump with. If you're ever in Ohio and make it to AerOhio I'd be happy to jump with you also.
  18. In the SIM (link provided above), read the ISP (Integrated Student Program), categories E and above and do the quizes at the end of each category. There is a section for each category on your yellow progression card. As you do the jumps for each category be sure to have your instructor/coach sign off on your yellow card. As you read each category make notes about things your don't fully understand or questions you think of. By the time you complete all of the category quizes you will be prepared to take your A license test.
  19. Luigi should be demoing his 37 sqft canopy one of the days but that is dependent on the winds.
  20. Start filling out your progression card with your very first jump. Ask your DZ which version they use (long or short form). There is a section of the card for each category and if you wait to start filling it out it will take much more time to do than if you (well your instructor) fills it in after every jump. There are learning objectives for every category.
  21. The location would also be dependent on what Skyventure Inc has set as the territory for Orlando and Raeford.
  22. You can find a PDF of the Cypress card here... http://www.cypres.cc/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=89&func=startdown&id=28&lang=en
  23. The first point of contact for a PLF should be the balls of your feet, not your heels. It's very easy to injure your heel plus if you start the PLF from your heels you are already leaning back, which is opposite of the direction the PLF will take. You also can't rotate well on your heels. The 5 points of contact for a properly executed PLF are (in order) 1. Balls of feet (rotate left or right to expose calf) 2. Calf 3. Upper leg 4. Butt 5. Side of back
  24. Luigi Cani will be at AerOhio this weekend, August 1st & 2nd to teach his canopy control course. He customizes the course to each participant and videos each jump to use during debriefs. The course is 1 day (either Saturday or Sunday) and will be taught rain or shine and starts at 8AM each day. Cost is $125 plus your jumps. Please call the DZ at 330-925-3483 or email [email protected] to register or for more information.
  25. Twin engine plane with 1 engine out - land with the plane unless pilot says get the hell out then bail on reserve. If the plane is in enough trouble that the pilot tells you to get out it's very possible you'll be closer to 1200 feet by the time you get out the door depending on how the plane is flying and your position in the plane.
