  1. After 3 failed attempts at my level 3 AFF my instructor strongly recommended some time in a wind tunnel. I ended up going with some people from my drop zone (only knew the instructor who sets up the time) the other night. It was the best 10 minute investment i could of made. My main issue with free falling is relaxing but doing the tunnel I could feel the difference when I was tense and relax. Really hoping I can take that when I go back next week to try again at my level 3. Just wish there was a way I could remember to relax without being told to.
  2. Good luck through AFF and big grats on quitting smoking, know it isnt easy and also know this sport isnt cheap my any means
  3. Just want to piss and moan to someone that can understand my anger. I am taking AFF but the weather has been lousy here in New Hampshire. I work every weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7pm to 7am, Forecast said sunny all week and ended up with showers , cloudy or overcast. Drop zone isnt too far from me but when I called they said loads were iffy and no student jumping due to clouds. Today and this weekend clear skies but I am stuck working. I know it does me no good the longer I wait between my classes, been 2 weeks already. Keeping my fingers crossed for some good weather for the up coming week.
  4. Good job, I'm jealous. I work every weekend so I hope the weather is good this week since my daughter is off camping with her mom all week. Need to pass that silly level 3.
  5. Thanks for all the input guys and gals. And I do enjoy every moment I have with my daughter (was single dad that has custody weekdays for 5 years) I picked up skiing last winter after being away from it for 7 years, brought my daughter twice and she has been asking all summer when we are going skiing again. I guess I should expect "the honeymoon stage "for a new activity as great as sky diving.
  6. I was taught to do both pull risers apart and kick. Still doing AFF so its current advice.
  7. Good news and bad news. As you can see I just started skydiving this summer, totally love and and I am always thinking about it. One of my favorite things I use to enjoy a great deal were amusement parks and roller coasters. Always on a quest to find a ride that would make my heart pump and scare the living hell out of me. Well skydiving did that. My 7 year old daughter finally grew tall enough to go on most of those "big rides", spent last week taking her to amusements parks. She absolutly LOVED the big coasters. I on the other hand realized they lost their appeal, no longer did they give me the thrill I once experienced. I even laughed to myself as I listened to other adults talk about how scary the ride was. Try falling 125mph from 14,000 feet I said to myself, now thats a rush! The good news is I did get to enjoy watching my daughter have the time of her life (so she says) as she walked around the park saying "I can't stop smiling", exactly what I said when I did my first skydive. Her quest for the ultimate thrill has begun. Is it normal once you start to skydive, other activities are no longer fun. Is that where the addiction to skydiving comes into play?
  8. Way to go. Hope to have some good weather this week, was unable to jump last week due to family obligations (not a bad thing) . Going to do AFF level 3 for the third time, Feeling lucky this time.
  9. Could be worse. All summer here in New Hampshire every time I have looked at the 10 day forcast only 1 day without some type of rain. That one day is always on a day I am working (only work 3 days a week).
  10. Grats on your first 2 jumps. Know the feeling did my first 3 AFF jumps last week and cant wait to get back asap. It has been a few days now and when close my eyes it still feels like I'm falling.
  11. I had the same problem this week . Relax, relax and relax (to go with that breathe, breathe and breathe). I have a tense posture to begin with so it is taking me a bit to be able to relax. Was hoping to get past level 3 today but nothing but rain in the forcast for a few days. Good luck, I feel your frustration with repeating a level.
