  1. I think the thing that is being confused is backflying versus being directly under/over the tandem. People are not saying that you can't backfly while filming a tandem. They are saying you can NOT be in the airspace directly below or above the tandem pair, no matter what position you are flying in.
  2. This is common practice to add additional letters at the end of a phone number. Once you dial all of the required digits the extras don't register. It would look funny if you said 800-U-SKYDIV.
  3. Read this post... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2800162;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Would that happen to ring a bell? If the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is.
  4. You might want to check with AerOhio. That's one of the closest dropzones to Columbus. www.aerohio.com or 1-800-726-3483 or 1-330-925-3483.
  5. You were clearly at fault. You rushed your exit to avoid the cloud. I think the proper thing to do would have to been to tell the pilot to go around for a second pass because of the cloud cover.
  6. I think the overall design of building is very nice.
  7. Your best bet might be to try to find the sound in an actual movie. It might not be 100% acurate but it would have been added in post-production by foley artists and would most likely sound realistic.
  8. During your canopy ride remember that you are the pilot. If the ground person gives you instructions that just don't sound right fly your pattern like you discussed with your instructors before the jump. On my first jump the ground person almost flew me into the only tree around way out in the middle of a field. The winds had picked up a bit after we took off and with my weight and canopy loading I ended up with no forward momentum when heading into the wind. When I first started my pattern I could tell that I wasn't moving forward much and went to adjust my pattern (decrease the lenght of my downwind leg) but the ground person told me to keep on my downwind and they ended up having to send the golf cart out to get me because when they did finally tell me to turn into the wind I went straight down like an elevator.
  9. Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience like that at Eloy. But I'm very glad you posted about it because I was in the process of planning a winter trip to AZ to do some tunnel time and some AFF jumps. Now that I know that I would probably be expected to start over from scratch I think I will change my plans and head down to Skyventure Orlando and Deland.
  10. Most DZ's offer packages that are somewhat discounted. Check into that and with Christmas coming up ask your family to get you gift certificates to the DZ you want to jump at. You can have the whole AFF progression paid off before you even start jumping in the spring.
