  1. Contact Kim at Skydive U in Orlando (Kimsdu on here) or Rob at Skyventure NH (svnh on here). I'm sure either would be able to help you find a coach.
  2. Did you do your controlability check? That should have identified the problem before you got to the ground since a controlability check includes a left 360, right 360 and practice flare. If you did your controlability check and everything checked out of did you take your hands out of the toggles for some reason? What caused the line knot?
  3. When the buyer pays the shipping you add that into the payment they send you. Ask the buyer how they want the rig shipped, pack it up and then go get it weighed to see what the shipping cost will be. Don't forget to add in the cost for insurance to cover the item. You can also get costs for the various delivery methods (2nd day, 3 day, ground, etc) and let the buyer decide which they option they want to use.
  4. Just got back from our trip to New England and wanted to give a big Thanks to Joe, Rob and all of the staff at SVNH. We're already planning the next trip for October so that we can catch the wonder fall colors. Thanks! Curtis
  5. As a student you can absolutely do too many jumps in a day. As a student gets fatigued during the day they learn and retain less resulting in more repeated jumps and frustration. As has been said by other posters the max number of jumps for each student per day is dependent on many variables. What level jumps, good night's sleep, eating/hydrating well during the day, etc, etc.
  6. Since this is related more to photography it might be better if the thread was moved to the photograhy and video forum.
  7. You will have to buy the ProTrack dock which uses a serial port connection. I believe that L&B sell a serial to USB connector or you can buy one at your local PC store.
  8. Not sure about ceiling but usairnet.com gives the bases. www.usairnet.com
  9. I'm sure everyone is glad to hear that you're upsizing (even a little). But you might consider going up another size or 2. Have you had any landings on a no wind day? Slight down wind? You'll still be coming in pretty hot in those situations.
  10. After talking to Rob from SVNH we've decided to do an hour of coaching with Joe Winters. Thanks for the PMs.
  11. What dropzone do you jump at? The general consensus for wing loading for students is .75:1 to .85:1 and you're already at 1.1:1
  12. Does anyone have any contact info for a coach for Skyventure NH? A friend and I have an hour booked for the evening of 7/20 and are thinking about getting a coach. We'd be looking for someone that can help with basic body control and is preferably also a skydiver. I've got an hour of tunnel time but this will be my friend's first time flying. Thanks Curtis
  13. Yeah, good catch. Was thinking one thing and typed the other. Sorry for the confusion.
  14. On the tracking dive I was on that Dave led I was was really worried about being able to keep up with the formation but he did a great job of keeping the dive in a range so that everyone could stay together. But towards the end of the dive when we needed separation for deployment he took off like he had afterburners.
  15. This is probably not the best idea. Since you'll be the last person out and will be tracking back towards the DZ you run the risk of tracking into the groups that exited before you did. Go on an organzied tracking jump. Ask around the DZ and I'm sure you can find someone to organize one. Another way to check your tracking ability is to get someone to act as a reference point and track away from them (being sure that you're tracking perpendicular to jump run so you don't track into other groups). Track for your normal count, stop, do a 180 and see where you are in relation to your co-jumper. How far away are you? Are you on level? Higher? Lower?
  16. I take a dose of Sudafed every morning when I get up before a day of jumping. Be sure to get the regular stuff and not the stuff with a decongestant because that will make you drowsy. Also take it several hours before you jump because it takes a while to start working.
  17. Just booked an hour myself and a friend for 7/20. Looking forward to seeing the new (well to me) digs. Also planning on making a few jumps up at Pepperell while in the area.
  18. Not if the TI is incapacitated for some reason.
  19. AerOhio www.aerohio.com is located near Wadsworth Ohio and flies a Caravan every weekend.
  20. Yes, that is the correct page to join USPA. Then, once you get all of your requirements completed for your A license you will pay another fee to get your A license number (the yellow card that is either 1/2 page or a full page). On the form at the URL above... Select "New, Annual; U.S. Mailing Addresses, incl. APO/FPO: $65", do not fill in any of the boxes in the first section (USPA License Numbers, Membership Number, etc) because you're a new member and don't have any yet. Fill in the 2nd section, add it to your cart and check out.
  21. They will teach you how to enter the tunnel when you get there. In addition there will be a spotter in the tunnel to help you.
  22. In the type of tunnel the air column is shaped like a bell curve (or a cone since it's 3d). If you're not exactly on the tip of that cone you can easily "slide" down the side of it. If you move off the tip fast enough you'll just drop (hence all of the padding around it). You spend more time and energy trying to stay in the center of the airflow than you do practicing any skills. That's why the Skyventure type tunnels are better for pratcing skydiving skills. The column of air goes from wall to wall so there's nothing to fall off of (unless you fall in one of the doors but that's why they have a spotter in with you).
  23. In our First Jump Course we use the following figures for turns below... 1500' no turns greater than 360 degrees 1000' no turns greater than 180 degrees 500' only turns 90 degrees or less 300' only turns 45 degrees or less and only for obstacle avoidance (because you should be on final at this point) As you advance those will change because you'll learn skills like braked turns (which loose less altitude).
  24. Already being discussed here... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3589660;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
