freeryde13 replied to justaflygirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
do it , do it , do it. i got recrited myself. i got asked for about 4 years to do it. and kept being like ...blah blah blah. but finnally the persistance paid off and i'm glad the girl who recrited me did. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -

yup...no doubt packing sucks...but you gotta doit. i got a new 190 and couldn,t pack it for about 50 -60 jumps onit, it gets easier the more it breaks in too i think........ but don,t get mad at the parachute, you have to luuuuuuuvvvv the parachut and treat it nicely. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

don't worry...and enjoy. i was real stressed after my level3 jump ad wondering if i could do this. my instructor got me right back in the air and i got it all right. he taught me about relaxing and enjoying the dive......as far as the b and c license.....i don't know. i know i started enjoying the sport alot more when i got my a and just started having fun instead of trying to fill the card after everyjump. ...... be safe and enjoy _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

a but yes grasshopper, one must search for true meaning of idea. nah..... just fucking around man. but.... i'm not belittling a damn thing. the whole thing i was saying ...and am trying to elaborate on now is.... and purity isn't good and unpure isn't bad. my whole thing is about freedom to choose. i don't know whats better and what's that mean anyway. i'm more interested in trying to live each jump.... and i haven't had a bad jump yet, knock on wood. my feeling is however...after i say a thousand different ways that i realize i might die skydiving and won't sue the dropzone or anyone if i die...... and pay the money the dz wants for teaching ad letting jump......i find it bizzarr that i can't jump how i wanna jump. i just agreed that i am responsible for my own actions and blah blah blah.....and i can't be responsible for my own actions hope i explained that right and you might find some flaws in a few words here and there....but i hope i painted a picture of what i'm saying. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
should dz make tandem mandatory first jump?
freeryde13 replied to freeryde13's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
tandems are cool ...don't get me wrong. for some people its a way to build courage or whatever. and for some its the only time they'll ever skydive.... but so what, they get a small taste of our thaaaang. but it definately is a little unpure to me...nothing wrong with that. and sme dzs take it a little to far. and what about the tandem masters laughing and complainng about the tandems. .... if your gonna send a guy up after a half hour video and a few hours of training, what do you expect? but.... i would love to be an aff and tandem instructor and talk with each new jumper and figure out what they wana do and whats the best way for them to do it. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
should dz make tandem mandatory first jump?
freeryde13 replied to freeryde13's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
***No. A person could have way too many things gone wrong, brain lock for starters, that can kill you. What is brain lock, in my words, you freeze from fear and do not know how to react, and then you die damn bro, why get out of bed then, you might get brain lock and trip, you might get hit by a bus getting coffe, a piano might fall on you too. [/quoteA tandem is the best way for a person to see if they like skydive or not, many people want to jump until that door opens at 12,000 feet, then fear sets in, if you have no fear the first time, none at I, I can bet I will be reading about you in the incident section down the read...This is my opinion too. They have tandems in place for a reason, it is not about making money on you, and some people think that way. A tandem jump is the best way any person can experience a skydive with out having to do anything. Enjoy the ride and make your decisions from that point forward. the best way for some not others though.....if safety is the issue, what are the statistics of first jump incidents aff vs tandem? _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
should dz make tandem mandatory first jump?
freeryde13 replied to freeryde13's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
***I'll quote, "If the tandem progression method had come along before AFF, there would be no AFF. quoting who? doesn't really matter.....but if i had to do a tandem i wouldn't be in love with this sport the way i am, wouldn't have even tried it actually. yes a tandem benifits some students , but it also is a kind of circus or amusement ride for alot of people. wich is cool...choice is key, ......but ,it also kind of cheapens the "purity" of the sport. and how many times waiting to do an aff jump did i get bumped for a damn tandem jump. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
should dz make tandem mandatory first jump?
freeryde13 replied to freeryde13's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
quick question..... should drop zones make first time jumpers do tandems. my first jump they wanted mme to do a tandem. i'm sure it's a safe way to go. but i was terified to do it. i wanted control of my own life, instead of trusting a guy i don't know anything about. i know a lot of people feel safer to make a first jump with an experienced diver. i feel people should be given a choice. whats your dz's polocy on that....just curious as i'm trying to recruit new blood, and feel like some of my friends are better off with aff, and others with tandem, but i don't think my closest drop zone allows aff only. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
Getting ready to buy a brand new rig...going nuts!!
freeryde13 replied to funks's topic in Gear and Rigging
it.s not just you. but if you concentrate , keep your eyes open , and use the force wisely.......the rig may come to you. heres my story......was looking for my first rig....asking questions, reasearch, blah blah blah. looked at aerodyne for the one stop shop deal, but couldn't find a dealer near me. then i saw an ad in the classified for a used rig that was every thing i wanted and tested, with about 40 -50 jumps on it.....even the color i wanted. .... keep the faith man. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
well... i try to be safe and really love living pain free. at abot 30 jumps, and jumping a new canopy. i opened a bit far from the dz and was not used to the speed of my canopy. so anyways....i'm coming in for final with strong winds....13mph or so with gusts of 18..... turn left crosswind, and am real low. i really really really want to turn into the wind, but start thinking about all those low turn incidents. so i land cross wind trying to level out againstthe wind by slightly pulling my left toggle before wipping the fuck out infront of the recently landsd canopy flight class. ......BUT.....my recurency coach on the jump told me i did it all right.... but i guess that could have been one of those unexplained low turns. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

bahhhhh hahhahahahah!!!@#$%^^$!!!..... damn, tis shits getting alright. anyways....some rambling on and off the subject. if indians bomb rhode island their probrobly right... if someone raped and murdered your family, maybe you 'd get them and their whole family if you could..and you would be right...and wrong. and thats the whole thing with this situation here. if i really see the truth of the situation, the palistinians really are right and have a better argument for their actions......but they can't win......nor can the jews. they're both on a cycle of hate..and there is no resolution to hate. it just gets bigger and bigger. i've gotta believe...all in all that most palistinians and jews just wanna live and do their thing. ....that has to come more out and they'll be allright over there. but both publics are getting caught up in the hype off their governments. wich is a long story in itself....... but i realy don't care who wants to fight who for what. it doesn't efffect my life or world until they come at me or my family, and then ......he he he h e. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

yeah i guess thats pretty smooth on the israelis part. i figured they would learn though. after the whole hitler thing they could have been an example of peace and forgiveness and rightousness. but....... we all see how they have responded to their liberation. there's gonna be a whole lot of killing going on over there before a leader on either side realizes peace is the only way to achieve their goals. but i'm personally embarrassed of our presidents policy on the middle east and isreal especially. if the rest of the world condems most israeli actions, couldn't we just obstain from voting instead of vetoing all the time? peace in the midle east....and chicken grease......and palistine will be free one day. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

interesting question......but if you want to be part of this thing and get advice and what not.....why don't you fill out your profile ? are you really thinking about diving or just trying to get info for some other reason? i'm chicken shit to do a tandem. they tried to talk me into it but i personnaly want to control my own destiny. with good instructors and full effort and concentration on your part you'll do fine....if your gonna be a bear, why not be a grissly right? _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

6 months to a year of martail arts should do you good. you'll strenghten your whole body, especially back and abs. you'll get a whole body stretch. you'll learn muscle memory....like holding a body position. sparring will improve your reflexes and hand eye coordination. you'll also learn to relax and focus.......good luck and fly safe baby! _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

i,m new at this but flew a sabre before buying a slightly used sabre 2. the sabre is nice and opens fine if you split the nose and push it way up in the cacoon when you pack it. the sabre 2 is fast. i drop altitude fast in turns and it comes in faster....but it flares better too. definatelt a more responsive canopy.i'm about 185 lbs jumping a 190. hope that helps. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

Kinda long: Transition from old student canopy to Sabre2?
freeryde13 replied to craichead's topic in Safety and Training
igot the same chut and wiped out my first landing on it....and the second landing. and i was flying the rental gear right. the sabre 2 is pretty fast compared to basic rental stuff. in my humble opinion, you should take a canopy course. you can survive the 2 mile drop....but its that last foot that gets you. for real it sounds like you should study canopy more. or at the very least read your sim manual and educate yourself about canopy technique. i know i learned alot of things in the sim that my instructors never taught me. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
Sponsorship Questions and General Manufacturer discussion
freeryde13 replied to aubsmell's topic in Gear and Rigging
as someone very new into this sees it. the whole gear indutry is a little hard to deal with.....but first let me start by complimenting the whole industry for not putting profit at the cost of safety and quality. thats real cool. alright here comes the the bitching......er hardships i've endured would be a better choice of words.....anyways....in no order. no demos. there is nowhere i have found where i can try different canopies and containers and stuff. and somr=etimes the canpy company doesn't make the container. and one dealer can get some gear but not all the gear i'm looking for. it seams to me that different dzs get close to certain manufacturers. so it can be hard to find what i want. i tried to buy a new aerodyne rig... the chuts, container. everything. but i couldn't find a dealer by a place that i could test it , in the time your company was haaving a sale on the items i wanted....so luckily i found a new ued rig that had everything i wanted down to he color. ...anyways.......cool of you to put yourself out there like this....thanks. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
