practice up high. open up a little higher ( be sure to tell people on the load your opening up higher). practice slow flaring, fast flaring, half flare pause then full flare, and look for the spott in your arm motion where you start to feel a storng lift. when your coming in under 50 ft don't look down......look more to the horizen( i think by 50 ft that spot on the ground that doesn't move trick might not matter so much). what size and type of canopy are you jumping? ask an instructor if a different rig will help. and think light and gracefull. why does the last 50' freak you out? only you can really answer that, but it's better if your calm. you react better in that state of mind. mental imaging will make your body do things sub consiously. ask for alot of help on the dz. ask someone qualified who trust to be on the ground when you land and tell you when to flare. good vibes _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

use the tag line....it was a joke, a joke i tell you...damn just a little thing to flavor and add to the mood of what i was saying. but i know you know that. for real though, i've went to 10 dzs in my little time doing this and see the same thing to varing degrees. and the whole skyride thing, the corny things the tandem guys always say. i'm in this and in it till it stops being fun if it . i'll find a few people that feel me, i'm not worried about that. i'm just saying, i hang around surfers , bikers, musicians,and bunch of other misfits too. in a millon years i didn't think the vibe would be what it is coming from the real it skydivers. if there is at all the vibe i'm talking about, is it good for the sport as a whole? i'm a dreamer , always have been, so it's my nature to picture co op dropzones run by a few of the main jumpers and a real welcome type of friendly enviroment. maybe a better marketing stratigy so tandems aren't needed as much for income . getting sponsorships to help some of the budget. and working harder to create a nurturing type of vibe.real organizers for loads....maybe i'll win lotto and do it ... _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

i haven't been doing this for to long. that's my disclaimer statement. but i think the whole sky diving scene could use......... something. the other day i call this dz in jersey. i ask them if they're open, how many loads they flew today, what kind of plane they are flying, and directions to get there. so this guy says yes we're open, we flew three loads already, we're flying a grand caravan today, and gives me directions. and he asks me where i'm coming from. i tell him nyc...about 1 1/2 hours away. it's my birthday and a beatiful day so i leave work early and head up there. i get there and there's a 6 people outside. the dz is closed, and these 6 people, all waiting to do there first skydive after talking to the guy i talked to, tell me they have,nt seen any one who works there. i ask some guys from the airpoert, and they say they've been closed allday and don't open on tuesdays ( it was indeed tuesday that i was there). now no one answers the phone. all i'll say is that the skydivers in the movies are a whole lot cooler than the skydivers in real life for the most part. the sky is amazing and the freedom is hard to describe ( i guess i shouldn't have to here). theres this guy on the ground telling students to chop away cause they've got a bad canopy. and the dz cool crowd are all laughing with the guy. i hear people say about a guy with 20 jumps who they call unsafe. " i don't care if he kills himself, i don't want him to kill any of my friends". i've been fortunate enough to bounce around a few real cool scenes and meet some real cool people in my life. and have meet a few real cool ones at the dzs . in the 90's i was real into the nyc music scene. and there were always a few pricks with an atitude that thought they where the shit cause they were blowing a record exec or whatever. they were never anybodys, never went anywhere, and where always the loudest mouths. but this skydiving shit is life and death....i am surprised all the attitudes and rudeness and shit. i'm someone who mainly keeps my eyes open and mouth shut around people i don't know. maybe i'll understand the vibe, or find a dz thats a bit more laid back and not so money hungry, or just keep hitting the boogies or something. just sharing.....peace. i've had three in less than 200 jumps. they are kind of fun.....the exitement of finding a spot to land and everything. but the last one was in a 50' x 100' area surrounded by trees on three sides and i busted my ass landing. i don't know if it was a wind gust/rotor or a result of the multi corrections and half break stuff i did to land in the clearing and not in a tree. all three times i jumped last out of the plane. the last time i sat with the pilot and in a polite way told him the jump before i was pretty far out . i asked him if he was gonna make two passes next time this time......well he didn't. i don't know if pilots get paid for each run and there fore don't want to do another pass or what. ultimately i guess it's my responsibility to demand another pass if i don't like the spot. is that against skydiving etiquite? i've jumped at places where the jump light turns red and the pilot does another pass rutinely. i am wondering things like..... am i indeed lading of the zone more frequently than most? if i demand a second pass to a reluctant pilot am i creating bad skydive karma? when is the next canopy control class around nyc ( thats not already booked? and any other suggestions or comments on things i'm doing wrong. thanks _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

racism didn't end like you think it did. i can give you a few examples. -i used to be in a construction union. minorities where only laborers and there where a few apprentice electricians. -a puerto rican friend of mine served in the military for 8 years running heavy constuction machinery. a white guy of the same experience got in the union at full pay. my friend had to go through a 6 year apprentice ship program after fighting just to get in. - another puerto rican friend served in the marines for 8 years and is a registered emt. but can't get in the nyc fire department even though he passed all the tests. i know irish guys that get in just because they're daddies are firemen. the nyfd is like 95 % white in nyc. i could go on and on but maybe you see the point. don't get me wrong , things are getting better and will continue to get better. but we are not there yet my man . _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

at some point i think we need to think about a world economy and not each country or area individually. I’m not claiming all of this is accurate since I am admittedly not a history buff and I can't even verify exactly who compiled it, however, I thought it was interesting. I’m not arguing a point.
