  1. They also left the Vector Coloring Program off the website. Chris
  2. Not being a rigger guy but an owner of my first chest ring harness and container (Mirage G-4.1) I can say a couple of things. It's comfortable and the most important thing for me was that Jeffrey fixed mine in about a half hour as my MLW was a little bit short. It was very easy to remove and replace the center pieces between the chest and hip rings with ones that were slightly longer. Try that with a standard harness. The container is broken in now and fits just great. Chris
  3. Everyone here gave you good advice. You can also add information that is available from the individual airlines's website under the baggage section. Continental, Delta, and Southwest have information on parachutes as baggage on their individual websites. Others may also but these are the only ones I'm familiar with Chris
  4. I have put a Pilot 124 into a Mirage MT and it is snug. It packs up bigger than a 120 Stiletto in the same container. Chris
  5. Gary Models from Atlantic and Pacific aircraft aren't cheap but they don't cost an arm and a leg either. but they are really made good. They are all hand-carved and hand painted with no decals etc. They are what you would call travel agent quality models. Chris

  7. Using IE7 on two computers for about a week with only one issue, mainly with organizing Favorites. When you try to organize your Favorites in a their respective folders. They wouldn't move up or down. Finally figured this out. While dragging one of your favorites to the location you want it in the folder pull it out into either of the margins slowly and move it up or down slowly until the little circle with the diagonal line inside disappears, then release the mouse button. The Favicon or Icon is now in the new position. The old IE used to use a solid line when you did this, now it is just a blurred image when you are moving the icon. I do like how it finds the sites custom Favicon and permanently attaches it to that shortcut in the Favorites. Chris
  8. I jumped the Sam in high winds at Rantoul one year and really appreciated the airlocks because the canopy was rock stable in those conditions at the time. Also the Sam has very postive toggle pressure, not heavy but the canopy makes you feel that you are one with it. Openings were a little quick but not hard. Chris
  9. From todays Chicago Tribune. I left the Names of the jumpers off this story as per the thread rules. Chris Published October 21, 2006 CHICAGO -- Three men implicated in a predawn parachute jump from a skyscraper construction crane in Chicago last month were given a chance Friday to have the criminal charges against them dropped. The parachutists, and their getaway driver were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Cook County Circuit Judge William O'Malley presented them with a deal: No more parachuting of any kind for six months or getting into any other trouble, and the charges will be erased from their records. The judge modified the bond for the three to include the parachuting ban and also ordered the men to stay away from the building site where they allegedly jumped in the early morning of Sept. 29, said Marcy Jensen, spokeswoman for the Cook County state's attorney's office. A security camera recorded images of two parachutists gliding through the air just east of the Tribune Tower near North Michigan Avenue and also showed a car sitting idle with its lights off in front of NBC Tower. Once the parachutists landed, the car's lights flashed, the men got in and the car sped north on North Cityfront Plaza Drive. The men allegedly were engaged in base jumping--parachuting off a fixed object such as a building, antenna or bridge, a dangerous stunt that is banned in most parts of the country.
  10. Jeff I like my riser covers just the way they are on both my G3 and G4 Chris
  11. It rains on both Sunday and Monday and I mean flooding rains here in Houston. Chris
  12. This actually happened to me when I was jumpseating out of DFW several years ago on American. This is when Delta still had a viable hub there. This one Delta flight kept missing all of his taxi instructions and the ground control frequency was very busy. The next thing that comes on the radio was as follows. "miss another call and we won't let you use our airport". I was about ready to laugh and no one found out which pilot said this. Chris
  13. Queens of the Stoneage, Little Sister. Heard this played on the radio all summer long but couldn't think of the name of the song. They played it at Minute Maid Park during the Astros vs Cardinals game that Roger Clemens pitched. I asked someone in the row next to me what the song's title was and he told me. Neat guitar riff in the song. Chris
  14. Yeah I got to Burlington VT this past year where the TSA had opened my bag (Travelpro) and ripped the zipper pull of one of the main zippers. They put their little note in my shaving kit. Chris
  15. My apologies Jeff. It didn't take you long to fix my harness and the Unisyn harness was well worth it because of the simplicity of adjusting the MLW sizing. I recall you did say it woould take about 30 minutes to do it. I had other things to do in Orlando that day and picked up the rig the next morning. Again I stand corrected. Chris
  16. Your right Jeff my opologies, You did the work for me and it didn't take very long. I was doing something else that day in Orlando and picked up the rig the next morning. Jeff you and the fine folks at Mirage always have taken care of me with both of my rigs and have done your best to bend over backwards to make sure your customers are happy as I was with my rig. Chris
  17. Bill Mike showed me some of the stuff they had to do to take the old center webbing out etc. and picking the stitches etc. Mirage made some things easier it seems for this to be done. That is the beauty of the fully articulated harnesses if they have to be resized. Chris
  18. The Unysin Harness allows for an easier MLW harness adjustment if the harness MLW is too short or long. It took Mike at Mirage four hours to fix mine just by removing and replacing the center sections of the MLW. Any other harness would have to be completely torn apart and rebuilt. Chris
  19. Erica As a Mirage G4.1 Owner I'm happy to hear your rig now fits. My main lift web was to tight on my G4 and I dropped it off at the factory in Deland. I have a Unisyn harness. It took Mike about 4 hours to replace the center part of the MLW with a longer one and the rig fits good now. Chris

  23. Just read this article off of landings.com Chris Bankrupt Era seeks to sell Otter aircraft By Rob Stapleton Alaska Journal of Commerce As it continues to operate under bankruptcy protection, Era Aviation Inc. plans to sell all of its Twin Otter aircraft to purchase three other planes and to make a payment to its lender as part of its reorganization plan. According to motions filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Anchorage on Sept. 11, Era Aviation is asking the court to allow it to sell three of its Twin Otter 100-200 series aircraft in exchange for $600,000 cash and $550,000 for credit toward a maintenance check on one of its DeHavilland Dash 8 aircraft. The $600,000 would be given to Era's lender, CapitalSource Finance LLC. The motion filed by Era's attorney, Cabot Christianson, also included the sale of six of the airline's more valuable DeHavilland Twin Otter 300 series aircraft in exchange for three Beechcraft 1900D model aircraft. According to the filing, the 100-series aircraft will be sold for $1.15 million to Avmax Group Inc. of Canada. The sale of the remaining six Twin Otter 300-series aircraft at $1.4 million each will go to purchase Beechcraft 1900D aircraft at a price of $2.9 million apiece. The motion calls for CapitalSource to receive a security interest in each of the Beechcraft acquired and any proceeds that exceed the purchase price of the 1900D aircraft. The motion also included the re-instatement of Era Aviation's 401K investment plan, and the continued use of cash collateral. CapitalSource cut off Era's cash flow in December 2005, which triggered Era's reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Also filing for Chapter 11 are Era's investors, who work under the name Era Aviation Investment Group LLC and includes former NFL football star Willie Gault as its managing partner. Actor John O'Hurley and Alan Hopkins are also listed in the investment group. Era Aviation discontinued its service in the Bethel area on July 28, and in August later lost the ground handling contract of Alaska Airlines jets in Bethel when Alaska Airlines decided to hire its own employees from Western Alaska. The Chapter 11 filing, which Landis called "just a hiccup," signaled some big changes in Era operations in the last nine months, including the dropping of service in Western Alaska, the sale of its fleet of Twin Otter aircraft and the re-fleeting with 19-seat Beechcraft turbo prop aircraft. Bankruptcy Court Judge Donald MacDonald in a July 12 memo also issued a terse assessment of Era's failure to meet its own deadline to present a reorganization plan, or to provide the court with an audited financial statement. Era delivered the financial statement on Sept. 1 and its reorganization plan to MacDonald on Sept. 11. The motion by Christianson filed on Sept. 11 also included a request for a hearing on Sept. 27 to approve the debtor's disclosure statement that was filed on Sept. 1. Era Aviation, founded in 1948, has 340 employees and has operated passenger flights for the public for 22 years.
  24. I have my Katana with HMA lines in a Mirage G-4 Split-bag. I use a large rubber band for the center stow and small rubber bands from PD on the other stows. The combination works great for me. Chris
  25. Just thought I would let you know, My Katana 120 opens very slow also and I have only had two off- heading openings which were quicker and the canopy did a complete 360 on me. The only other thing about the canopy which is taking me time getting used to is that it is very body-sensitive when landing and has such light toggle pressure and lot's of bottom end lift compared to my Stiletto. It is quite easy to put too much flare into it as it is a real climber. I'm beginning to find a happy medium with it though and I thing things should work out. I sure like the way it flies as it is much smoother and quieter than the my Stiletto also. Chris
