  1. Hi pnuwin, IMO there are so many variables during any deployment that it would be nearly impossible to quantify the reduction ( if any ) that any type of modern design line stowage pouch causes to lines. Where one guy/gal might get ~10% less jumps due to line wear on any one type of pouch the next guy/gal may experience no additional wear. Now that is not to say that I cannot design a line pouch that will create a lot of wear, because I think I could. YMMV, JerryBaumchen
  2. Hi bunky, That does look like a Precision WrapIt link. But I would like to see it stretched out to know more. Just my thought . . . JerryBaumchen
  3. Hi Snow, Remember LSMFT: Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco or: Loose Straps Mean Floppy Tits Quickly, where can I hide? JerryBaumchen
  4. Hi dpre ( again ), You might also have them study this: http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk/cms/index.php?/files/file/2780-dinx-soft-linkspdf/ JerryBaumchen
  5. Hi dpre, It has been some time since I looked at their instructions but I do believe that Precision's WrapIts go around three times vs the twice around for Slinks. JerryBaumchen
  6. Hi Ian, Doesn't this belong in the REMEMBER WHEN thread? JerryBaumchen
  7. Hi Mike, I arrived in England in Sep '61 ( RAF Sculthorpe ) and had been there 4-5 days when some of us went into the local village of Syderstone in the Norfolk area. We were having a few beers and suddenly this old guy comes out with a cow bell at starts ringing, this is at about 10:20 PM. I had no idea what the h*** was going on but the other guys said to drink up as they were closing. Do the pubs over there still close at 10:30 PM? JerryBaumchen
  8. Hi rehmwa, How true. I'm a retired Mech. Engr and have found too many of them live like this. We had a very competent electrical engineer who worked in our electrical test lab & sometimes I needed some info from him. I used to say that if I called him and asked him what time it was he would say, "I'll get back to you on that." JerryBaumchen
  9. Hi shrop, Disclaimer: I was a peacetime serviceman. Interestingly, just yesterday I finished reading Andy Rooney's MY WAR. A great & fun read and he writes just like he spoke on 60 MINUTES. I'm off to have lunch with a couple of old jumping buddies who are also vets. Let the BS flow, JerryBaumchen
  10. Hi John, That reminds of one time that there was some problem with the plumbing under the kitchen sink and I needed to fix it. I told her to load up the kids & go to the mall or a movie for a few hours as it was going to get nasty in the kitchen. JerryBaumchen
  11. Hi steve, How about you pack it up, take some photos with a ruler measuring just what the dimensions of the rig are? That would help a lot in knowing what it might fit into. You weren't doing anything else tonight, were you? JerryBaumchen
  12. Hi rehmwa, +1 Washington state did a study of their car pool lanes that were in Vancouver, WA ( just over the river from Oregon ) on I-5 and determined that they actually cause less cars per hour to get over the river. They then got rid of them. But Oregon; oh, no way. Oregon, the only western state where the max speed limit is 65 MPH. JerryBaumchen
  13. Hi James, If only I had that available. And thanks; a little levity is always a good thing. JerryBaumchen PS) And for all of you: Thanks for the input. I have found a 3/4 HP belt drive Genie that I am drifting towards ( Thanks, John Mitchell; you convinced me ). Now just need to see if it will accept all of the custom controlling that I have done to my current/non-working device.
  14. Hi Krip, Did; it says it only works on certain W-D models of doors. JerryBaumchen
  15. Hi Fly, If that was the problem. The control board is on the fritz and they do not make replacement boards for it any longer. JerryBaumchen
  16. Hi Sig, I did not 'give up' anything. I gained an entire new life. And has it ever been great. JerryBaumchen
  17. Hi Kris, +1 There was a very good discussion today on NPR about how they hunker down to protect the institution and have not the slightest concern about the victim(s). They being things like the BSA & the Catholic church. Some days we do get a little justice, JerryBaumchen PS) Now off to SC.
  18. Hi agent, Don't ask me, ask Shah. JerryBaumchen
  19. Hi out there in USA-Land, I need to replace my garage door opener. I've owned two, both Genie's that I installed myself. They worked fine: #1 went with the house when it was sold, #2 just died somewhat after ~15 yrs. I was in Lowe's and they carry both Genie & Chamberlain. Anyone using Chamberlain and what would you say about them? I do prefer a screw-drive model but have been told that the belt drives are better ( or so they said ). Thanks in advance, JerryBaumchen PS) No, this is not asking about legal or medical info.
  20. Hi andrew, That purple device would not have been called a short sleeve back in the day. A short sleeve was only shorter than the standard PC long sleeve by the length of the crown lines. They did not have a folding of the canopy as shown in that sequence of photos. But it is an interesting device; and you definitely have all the info needed to build one. JerryBaumchen
  21. Hi dgw, 60 inches was nowhere near the 'norm' for back in the day. They were usually short-lined 36 - 48 inches, with 48 being the extreme. I would suggest that you make some measurements and see what you really have. As far as d-bag, pod, sleeve; they all will work. Keep the stablizers away from the lines & have fun with it. JerryBaumchen
  22. HI Micko, But, but that's illegal. JerryBaumchen PS) Have I ever bought a lot of stuff for my daughter and her family that live in Vancouver. 'Who me? Officer, I have no idea of what you are talking about.'
  23. Hi free, A great place to live. Do NOT pay any attention to: - the tv show PORTLANDIA - Bumper stickers on cars that say KEEP PORTLAND WIERD as it is & probably always will be - the poor weather from now until Spring And if you like micro brews, you will be in 7th heaven. If I can assist in any way, just drop a line. JerryBaumchen PS) When they did the first ever survey on Best City to Live In, Portland came out #1.
  24. H out there, A blonde gets home from work early & hears strange noises coming from the bedroom. She rushes upstairs only to find her husband naked lying on the bed, sweating and panting. 'What's up?' She asks. 'I think I'm having a heart attack,' cries the husband... The blonde rushes downstairs to grab the phone, but just as she's dialing, her four-year-old son comes up and says, "Mummy, Mummy! Aunty Shirley is hiding in the closet & she has no clothes on!" The blonde slams the phone down and storms back upstairs into the bedroom right past her husband... She rips open the closet door and sure enough, there is her sister, totally naked and cowering on the floor. 'You rotten b****', she screams. 'My husband's having a heart attack, and you're running around naked, playing hide and seek with the kids!! JerryBaumchen
  25. Hi 377, The Hustler was quite will known in the mid-60's when I started ( Feb '64 ) but I think it was 'developed' in the rather early 60's. I think they were more of a regional thing. Here in the Pacific NorthWest we just did our own mods and almost all were 7-Double L or 7-TU. In the Spring of '64 the ParaCommander came on the market and everything changed; and I mean everything. Modifications like the Hustler were just too much work. JerryBaumchen
