  1. Hi Cliff, Is this the handle that you have? JerryBaumchen
  2. Hi Moms, I've never owned one but from friends that have I would suggest a sign that says: WHEN THIS TRAILER IS ROCKIN', DON'T COME KNOCKIN' JerryBaumchen
  3. Hi Jim, My first thoughts when I started reading this thread were about when I was a rather young man and in Basic Training; SSgt Don A. Willocks told us, "If you don't like the rules, don't play the game." I have never forgotten that comment. JerryBaumchen PS) The last two movies that I went to I've had to tell at least one dipstick to turn of their cell phone; one took a 2nd 'tell' which had a little more firmness to it. You should have seen the look on her face.
  4. Hi John, Nicely done; keep up the good work. I was happy to have had a small part in it. JerryBaumchen
  5. Hi Krip, My memory told me 1968; and Google is our friend: http://www.parapublishing.com/files/articles/Article%20AB-312%20Introverts%20Promote%20from%20Home.pdf JerryBaumchen
  6. Hi Larry, That is my earliest rememberance of it. Sort of went along with their skull & bones flag. EFS, real early '70's IIRC, JerryBaumchen
  7. Hi strato, And you might be correct. I was going on what I can see in your photo; I do not have the rig to look at. Heck, I've been wrong many times before. JerryBaumchen
  8. Hi Strato, That yellow rig in the photo is a Security 2nd Gen XBO. Foster's rigs were a close but no cigar copy. JerryBaumchen
  9. Hi Pete, Re: Could that guy have been Gordon Foster? Ding Ding - We have a winner. Re: Never knew about Abbot moving to FXC! You gotta get out from under that rock. JerryBaumchen
  10. Hi Strato, Time to realize that as we get older, the memory goes. Guardian was started by a guy ( who's name I no longer remember ) in Southern California. He had some success but eventually sold everything to FXC. Then somewhat later, FXC hired Dan Abbott away from Security to come down to run the Guardian operation. Anyone out there remember the name of the guy who started Guardian? I seem to remember he started it when he just got out of the Navy. He ran an ad once that had the banner: IF YOU DON'T READ THIS AD YOUR RIPCORD WILL CATCH ON FIRE I've never forgotten that ad. JerryBaumchen
  11. Hi Rob, I would probably make that 'is never evenly distibuted.' It has been many years ago but I seem to remember some info from some testing that Para-Flite did that the center two front lines take the largest portion of the opening shock. The webbings, tapes, etc have strength ratings. In their raw form they will 'almost' always be stronger than the rated strengths. But then we start cutting, punching holes, adding 'whatevers' and everything changes. I would be curious as to the reasoning for the original question as that might help some of us to offer some better information. JerryBaumchen PS) On 21 Apr 10 I tested three samples of Type 8 webbing that was sewn with a 3-point stitch pattern, sewn with #5 cord, that was 50 mm ( ~ 2" ) long. These were tested in a calibrated testing machine and the results were: #1 - failed at 6,720 lbs #2 - failed at 5,780 lbs #3 - failed at 6,300 lbs
  12. Hi Krip, You may have him confused with Chet Poland. JerryBaumchen
  13. HiAndrew, My money says that both rigs are home-built. JerryBaumchen
  14. Hi bill, Many, many years ago, when I was in college, I had a part-time job working in the test lab at Freightliner Corp. About that time we added pneumatic throttles to the trucks. Then the drivers said that they simply did not have a 'feel' for the amount of throttle that they were giving the engine via their foot. So we added a small spring under the foot pedal to give them some feedback on just what they were doing. This is not a new phenomena. JerryBaumchen
  15. Hi sierras, Try these guys: Crye Precision LLC Brooklyn Navy Yeard Unit 252 Brooklyn, NY 11205 718-246-3838 http://www.cryeprecision.com/ [email protected] JerryBaumchen
  16. Hi Krip, Would that have been a yellow one by any chance? When I first started jumping, we had a older pilot who told me about always going straight ahead and take whatever you have. Trying to turn back is what killed all on board at Issaquah in the summer of '72; and that was with a jumper/pilot flying. I lost a very close friend that day. JerryBaumchen
  17. Hi Nick, Sorry, I really should look at profiles to see just who people are. I got a call from Justin the other night ( he does like to call late at night doesn't he? ) and he said that you were out with a prototype harness. I had hoped to get over to see it this week but too much going on, maybe next week. JerryBaumchen
  18. Hi Shah, Or you could see what she says: http://www.tmsfeatures.com/columns/advice/ask-amy/ JerryBaumchen
  19. Hi 2fly, Housings in almost any diameter you will want & in any lengths that you want can be purchased from: Metal-Flex Hosing, Inc. 1241 E. Erie Avenue Philadelphia, PA 191924 215-535-6868 [email protected] She is not so good at responding to emails but a phone call usually works. Hope that this helps, JerryBaumchen PS) They also make ripcord pins & ripcord handles.
  20. Hi k-dub, Ding - Ding - Ding No more calls, we have the winner! JerryBaumchen
  21. i SERE, I would not want to be trying to snap that thing into place when the airplane is dancing around the sky. JerryBaumchen
  22. Hi pops, Back in those days there was one guy who ran an ad for converting a StratoFlyer into a 7-cell. I know one guy who took him up on it and made that POS Flyer into something that could be landed without injury. JerryBaumchen
  23. Hi Marisan, You might just be correct. It has been a few years since I've seen one of their systems. I know they did license it to Security at one time. I used the YES system on my early rigs; which the R&J system is the same but with the pieces reversed. IMO the advent of these systems is what caused Booth to finally license the 3-ring. At the time, you could only get a 3-ring system on his rigs; but with these systems available, the world was going to leave him behind. JerryBaumchen
  24. Hi barbs, I just spent three hours over at the VSE/Infinity production facility. Contact them and ask about the new black hardware that they are working on. I did not say a word!!!! JerryBaumchen
