  1. THat's a pretty big formation. I'd love to just be on the ground there and be watching. I think the break off is an amazing thing to watch. Good Luck to all of you over there!
  2. The best way to learn how to sit fly it to jump out the plane with a lawn chair, open it up in FF , and then climb into the chair. This will give you an idea of what it's like. 1. Make sure your gear is freefly friendly 2. It helps when beginning to be wearing proper clothing. A baggy sweater and shorts for example is not going to help you. 3. point your toes up so that your heals are the lowest point on your body. 4. pretty much be like your sitting in a chair , you will have to play with how far apart to put your legs and where exacty you want your arms to be. I'm sure you will get it. 5. Keep the left side of your body symetrical with the right side (Obviously) Good Luck!
  3. Nice rig. It's nice to have your name on it but the downside to it is if you're like me and bought a used rig with someone elses name on it, have fun removing it. It took me about 1/2 hr to remove each letter. They sure do a good job! Enjoy you beautiful new rig! )]
  4. Have you done any jumps yet? If you have AFF will blow IAD or S/L right out of the water. Have Fun!
  5. what kind of 210? is it f-111 or zero p? I have about 40 pds on you and I jump a 210. You will find a 210 way more responsive than a 290, and a bit faster but a 210 is probably what you should be with right now anyway. If you said you wanted to get a 150 then I would say your asking for trouble but a 210 should be fine. check out this link kramer started if it is f-111 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=884213;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  6. Can I ask why not? How about why was it taken away in the first place? It was really nice to be able to search with multi variables. Right now for names it's search by either first name or last name and not even both together. I really enjoy this site but am dissapointed with the removal of this service. Please bring it back...... please?
  7. I agree. I too own the pd-210 9-cell. I also have about 50 pds on you Kramer. The flare does take a bit of getting used to, I went from beautiful landings to not so pretty when I first got it but after about 7 or 8 jumps I had no problem with it whatsoever. Easy to pack, always have beautiful openings (only have 50 jumps),and more than responsive enough. All in all it's a great beginners parachute and could easily keep you happy for a few hundred jumps. Don't worry too much about downsizing , that comes with due time. Definatly get a rigger to check it over to see what kind of condition it's in. Do you know when it was manufactured? Mine was from 94 but when I purchased it year it only had about 60 jumps total on it and the lines looked like brand new. From what I'm told that canopy is good for at least 1000 jumps. Good luck with the gear buying.
  8. Sorry DogBreath but no one here wants to help you with your essay on stupid questions to waste skydivers time with. Why don't you drive down to the closest dropzone and ask the pilot if he likes coffe or tee, because that would be on paar with your bullshit questions. Go milk a Bull buddy!
  9. I probably am scared deep down but I guess I tell myself i'm not and I must be a pretty good liar because it seems to work. I hate the wating to get into the plane. I become very calm and relaxed on the ride up, and then anticipate the exit because it's so much fun to throw yourself out of that perfectly good plane. I too am on leave from skydiving due to weather and funds. I haven't jumped since october and won't be till probably may. It Sucks!,....
  10. Does pot enhance your skydiving experience? I personally get enough of a rush off of skydiving without throwing drugs or alcohol into the equation. You have to know your own limits and think "Is this substance really going to help me up there?". Obviously if someone needs to take a gravol to handle the skydive from motion sickness there's nothing wrong with that. I think it's best to avoid usage of drugs or alcohol while jumping, and once that last load is done for the day you can do whatever the hell pleases you.
  11. hi! Wish I was there, freezing my ass off up here in Canada. (I hope spring comes soon, I hope spring comes soon,............)
  12. Yipeeeee Skippy! I'm 1/2 the way there, and hope to get there by this year but money and weather are sure to dictate. congrats!
  13. Hmmm, I would have to say that it's not here in Canada, where I get to be a seasonal skydiver.
  14. What you needed to do is go back in time to 1 year ago and place the order so that you would already have the suit. Can't believe nobody else has thought of this
  15. I'll be on on a break from skydiving till May probably due to the lovely weather up here in Ontario and the lack of funds. The bad weather makes skydiving more affordable for me, so even though I also have the non-jump blues it works out for the best. If money wasn't an issue then I would definatly be down south jumping to my hearts content.
  16. Other dreams that were interesting was a time when I pulled and the canopy that came out must have been 1000 sq ft. I don't think I got to the ground I was just sailing around the sky. I had one where a had no gear but slowed down perfectly to land on both feet as soft as a feather. Another one I was base jumping but I was probably only 50ft off the ground so as I was deploying I hit the ground, got up and dusted off my shoulders then thought how stupid I was to jump from so low.
  17. I had one dream where someone went in and did not get up. After not thinking about the dream for a few months I found myself at the dropzone with this odd sense of deja vu relating back to that dream. That was weird. No one was hurt that day and I'm not sure why that dream would all the sudden be remembered at that point but just goes to show how the human brain does weird things.
  18. I read somewhere that it is bad to double stow elastics but most of the skydivers I know seem to do this and it's also how I was taught. Any expert opinion out there? what about tube stoes? anyone who uses them think they are better than rubber bands?
  19. It's funny so many of you should mention holes in the canopy. I happened to notice 2 small holes in my main very close to the front right corner. I am pretty sure they were not there back in October but it's possible. They are very small maybe 1/4 the size of a dime. I will be getting it repaired before I jump it and have the rigger completly check it over. It's possible it could be from bugs. there are thousands of grasshoppers in the fields around the DZ so I don't know if maybe they are to blame. Just goes to show that's it good to check over your gear.
  20. Hi. I have not jumped since the beginning of October and will probably not get back to skydiving till late April at the earliest (due to funds and the lovely weather up here in Ontario). Just wanted to ask a quick question. Should I be taking the main out of the container for periods of time or is it perfectly fine to keep it all packed up for extended periods of time? I've re-packed it twice in the last 3 months for the fun of it but anyone with any advice on this would be appreciated. (I will be getting my reserve repacked before I start jumping this year)
  21. I made 49 in 2003. My total # of jumps is 50 so not too bad. I made 3 in March and April (which were S/L), 1 in May out in Victoria,B.C. which was my first freefall, and then the other 45 at Skydive Burnaby back home in Ontario between June and beginning of October. All and all a good skydiving year for me. Taking a break till the spring due to lack of funds and using the weather as an excuse as well. I wish I was farther south so I could jump year round but to be honest, financially for me it works out better to make skydiving more of a seasonal activity based on not wanting to freeze my balls off up there.
  22. excellent story telling. Your stories are very enjoyable to read. If you have anymore we are all ears...
