  1. This thread made me think a little bit. I had wondered what the big deal was. I always deploy, check my airspace, stow slider, unstow brakes (snap toggles, no velcro) control check, then I reach down (1/4 to 1/2 brakes) and loosen my chest strap. I know that it does not make a huge difference most of the time but that's just how I have always done it. Your last reply, about a small "twitchy" canopy makes me see how "later on" doing what I do now could become a pain. Not that I plan on downsizing anytime soon, but that makes pretty good sense to me, I think I may re-think how I do that just in case I decide to downsize later. (BTW my other canopy is a Classic 304)

Just another thing to waste some money on. I guess I'll be getting my copy sometime this week or so.

Here is a pic from my security camera. They say 20.4", I don't know about that, But I am working in Indianapolis this weekend. The wife says she cleared it, but I don't see that.
  4. My god, I must be a geek. When you said Home Brew, I thought software. I will go back to my corner now.

    waaa!

Accuracy Scrambles less than 30 minutes from where I'm working this weekend and I don't have a rig. waaaaa......
  6. PLF's are good. The more I read and see I hear that some instructors don't really teach PLF's. They think that PLF's are no good for a square canopy. I KNOW that PLF's work, even for squares. I hope the OP takes your advise and is sure to learn (and practice) their PLF's.
  7. Before my wife had "the baby" I mounted our 37" LCD TV to the fireplace using concrete anchors. I sealed it just in case. No CO2 leaks and the mount does not get hot. I drilled a 2 1/2" hole next to that area (Behind the tv) and moved all of my computers, tuners, 6.1 surround sound, 400 disc DVD Changer and WII into the closet at the top of the basement stairs. It has worked fine so far and it is out of the kids reach when she starts to move around. Is it code, Hell I don't know I'm not a contractor, but the house hasn't burned down and the TV works great.
  8. I'm never scared, and I'm all over the country. (Allentown, PA this weekend). Sad part is my rig is in OH for a repack.
  9. It just seemed like one of those weird stalker things (Craigslist missed connections). Someone showed me those once and I got kind of scared.
  10. Shouldn't this be on craigslist?
  11. That's not dust and spiders. It's from too much porn. It's pretty hard to see what is wrong with it over the internet. It "sounds" like a bad video card, but it could be more. Take it to someone, or bring someone to it.
  12. And I thought you were telling everyone so that they would buy me presents for my birthday.
  13. Just like others have said, a Hop & Pop is usually just clear the aircraft and pull. Some people like to just clear the tail, others like to get a little speed because the canopy they are jumping opens better for them with some speed. It is pretty important to clear the tail first. (Cessna's come to mind) I like them from 2500, sometimes 2k (Accuracy), the ones I like the best are from 13-14k. I always tell the pilot "Don't run me over I'm doing a H&P from full Altitude". and the pilot will let me know if it's okay and more importantly they will let the other air traffic know. Hop and Pop = Clear and Pull
  14. Maybe all of the GA people should get together and do a few "fly in's" into some of the busy airports. I know it costs more to land / park at most of these but if 100+ GA aircraft were show up at say JFK on a monday morning it could only make for good times, right? That would prove them right now wouldn't it?
  15. Last week someone hit my wifes car sitting right in front of the house. Insurance is making us pay the deductible. At least you have a story. The sad part is the car has less than 9k miles on it, 2007 Model.
  16. Well, I'm down to 190. Still not working out regular, yes the hotel has an area for me to do that. I've been eating slightly better. Less fried stuff more fruits and such. If I'd just work out, that big fat belly would start to go away. Good job with your 18+ pounds. I think I'm at 11 or 12.
  17. That's kind of funny. Loose. It does appear that the pressure has got him to downsize. Maybe he is a great canopy pilot and is ready for a jump from 210 - 170. As I've said before, The first canopy I owned was a PD9-170 (I was 170ish out the door), my big move was to a synergy 170 (ZP Semi Elliptical) I did my training on 220's, 210's and 190's. 190's were "off" of student status. - I still jump that 170. I have no reason to downsize anytime soon (But I can do everything on the downsizing checklist) Now I'm trying to figure out if a Classic 304 would fit into something that I have a Synergy 170 in.
  18. Jee, It seems to me that the op has already asked the manufacturer and he did not like the answer that they gave him. So lets go and fish for the right answer on the internet. My container was made for 475 cubic inches (Main), does that mean I could put a canopy with a pack volume of 300 or 750 in it? Maybe, But I really don't want to try it. The canopy I use is a little small for the container, I just don't pack it as small as I could. If I did it would only take up the center of my bag. Try it, if it works for you (him) great.
  19. Um, no. I only went as far as Auburn Hills tonight. I'm working in Clarkston this weekend. The person was in a SUV, I couldn't tell what it was (American made, Chevy or Ford) and I was where 75 turns left (From the left, right hand lane) in Detroit. I don't even think my company has locations in Flint.

That's what I should have done this morning. My kid had those plums last night. She had green poo that almost made it out of the diaper. it was a lot. So plums turn to prunes inside?
  21. I always try to drive whenever possible. Flying scares the crap out of me. When they lock that door and I can't see what they are doing or hear warning buzzers. I've been on a few Regional Jet flyovers. " Umm yeah, we are going to fly over and have the tower take a look..." I spend a lot of time out of town, mostly in my work van.
  22. I'm the one doing 80+ mph. They usually catch me in traffic. Today it was I75 and I75 in Detriot. A twinkie would be bad at 80+, but it would take practice. Maybe I should start now.
  23. We fly over wal-mart on the way. If we are doing cross country jumps we use wal-mart as a point of reference.
