  1. I spent 10 years in offset printing and here is some info. print is not cheap, if it's cheap it may not be good but could be good enough for what you want, depending on what you want. if you where using these envelopes to send out bills, then why not cheap? How many colors do you want? More color more money and not just the ink, thats the cheap part.. color separtaions, plates and all of that start to add up quickly. but if have plates made and use the same printer for your stuff they store the plates and the next time there is no set up fee and thus makes the job cheaper. 3 things about printing. quick, cheap, or good. you can have two of the three but not all three! for small run stuff try www.visitaprint.com Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  2. I thought you where leaving DZ.COM http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3281080;#3281080 Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  3. I'll get the exact specs this weekend. will probably snap a pic or 2. We had a bunch of things changed when it was made, so it's not very stock. What brand is it? if you helped design then you should know this. becareful with thos pics, unless this is approved for jumping and the ppc has an N number then it's illegal to jump. 4. Yes, it was custom built for jumping. I was one of the guys who was giving design input on it. 100% serious reply] What make and model is that? I would like to see it and check one out. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  5. A group of us are going to float a river on Sunday in South east KC about an hour south of the city, there could possibly be room in a boat for a wayward jumper. www.greenboxphotography.com
  6. Shaun I doubt that I am an expert at jumping from PPC's or an expert at anything really. I just have a few years experience and a lot of jumps from these things. I think we really learned a lot of information about the utility of PPC's at the time we where playing with jumping from them. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  7. Well I doubt that the machine was built to be jumped out of, but thats a fun thought. Get traraing, you should have at least a few basic flights with a PPC instructor before you get in these things, even if you only intend to exit them! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  8. I sent Andy this PM and after the fact I realized that this is better served to many of you as these things are around and very tempting to try to catch a ride from. Here are some of the things I learned about jumping from PPC's. I spent two years working in teh PPC industry for the largest manufactuer of PPC's and I had a lot of perks as you will read. Andy first off let me preface this by saying what you are wanting to do is illegal, PPC's are NOT approved for parachuting and you are at risk of having the man pay you a visit if caught! I worked for Powrachute, we did a lot of Govt testing to see if agencys like the border patrol could use ppc's so I got paid to jump from these things and we had permission from the feds to do so. Important tips, if any item comes loose from you or your rig there is a prop behind you, it will go into the prop, if your helmet comes off it will go in! The props are flimsy and will shred and there is the potential of your PC coming losse and going into the prop, be very cautious in climbing around in this aircraft during flight. We discovered that the exit can be tricky, we jumped three diffrent models of PPC's, one was very easy to exit and that was the Pegasus line of PPC from Powrachute. On exit we found that if you cut the prop and extend one foot peg and place the ppc into a turn that you open a wider "door" to exit from and that your exit weight shift into the turn makes the PPC more stable, if you are flying straight and level the ppc experiences a massive cg shift that can be disturbing to experience even to a seasond ppc pilot. Snag hazards, the PPC is full of possible snag hazards, there are lines, nuts, bolts and just stuff all around, Ican't stress thise enough that your pilot is already flying his reserve, if you snag the ppc and cause any failuer to the ppc "wing" then the pilot is doomed. watch those snag hazards. I jumped a few diffrent rigs from the PPC, at the time I had a JAV, mirage and dolphin, all of which has there pro's and cons, the dolphin being the less secure rig of all three as far as bridle expouser and stuff like that. I never experienced any problems but just felt better jumping with my mirage. Since we where "testing" and I had some leway and permissions to tread upon I did jump my velcro closed base rig once, not the best idea I ever had as I kept feeling/hearing the velcro peel as I moved about the seat, lucky we did not go that high and it was a short flight. I am not sure jumping a ppc is really that great or worth the risk today, They are slow, loud and a safety challenge. hope that this helps. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  9. Andy I used to work for www.powrachute.com as a rigger and test jumper. pm me for info on jumping these. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  10. May be a repost already, but I noticed the crossword puzzel in the new parachutist has some flaws. There are 22 down questions and the puzzel board has nubers for 25. In the answers section there are 30 answers for all 22 down questions. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  11. Sorry, but she's a bitch that this case is wrong. Look, Marriage IS a legal contract, that's one of the many points of it. An agreement to be married is not. Okay, so she was wronged, had a broken heart, and sues?!?! I'm worried most about the precedent this would set...but some girl, who get's her heart burned, and obviously look for a way to dig herself out of dept is an abuse of ze' legal system. Unstable Ever found yourself defending a noncommitment of marriage? Just giving you a hard time brother I know your story and I hope that her family does not watch the florida news! www.greenboxphotography.com
  12. I knew that Howard would eventually reply! Thanks to all of you that beat him to the info though. I think that this will be a fun project for a shade shelter, I need to get some poles or pole, get some rope and stakes and have a fun shade shelter for packing while at those pesky boogie type evnts. 13. Picked this one up here in KC, now comes the time when we go to resident historian Howard White for more info. Giant blue cargo chute, still in origional box, box has secondary liner made of a slick thin cardboard material. the parachute has no vent in the top and at the end of the canops where the lines would attach there is but a loop that will make for nice handles if I decide to use this as a packing shade. the canopy seems to be all cotton and is very heavy. so Howard, jerry or any other canopy guy, what is it? www.greenboxphotography.com

  15. I ran one of these "kids" off the other day, he said he was selling for his highschool project and the guy was maybe in his mid 20's. I have a no soliciting sign on my door, I pointed to that and said can't you read.. he flipped me off and gave me some hand gestuers that I am sure this wigger thought where gang signs. My dogs came around and started to growl and bark and that kids took off saying some jibberish alonmg his merry way. www.greenboxphotography.com

  22. I am big fan of the rhino series as the walkie talkie featuers are great to have, my wife and I share the same trails from time to time but we often get separted by distance as she travels by horse and I hike. the rhino is awesome for where you at moments? I also use it for kayaking, geocache hunting and all other stuff that I do I guess. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  23. That's exactly the crux of it. Did you have a specific reason for not renewing ratings, or was it the general climate? Lance General climate of things. I have to much to loose these days and the reward no longer large enough for the risk. I have a nice house, nice cars and toys that I paid way to much money for and am selfish enough that I want to keep them if something went wrong when working with a student and if you do this long enough something will go wrong at some point, your fault or not you will have that oh shit I hope they don't sue moment around you, maybe not your fault but the fault of another instructor and yet you may have helped in some way, maybe something as minor as gearing the student up in a jump suit and you could be named. To much risk man, just to much for me now. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
