  4. John As per my understanding of kansas law. the land owner owns to the middle of the creek/river/waterway and if he owns both sides then he owns that section of the waterway. however he does not own the rights to use the water in any manner he feels, meaning the owner can't use the water without paying some city or county if he wants to water crops with it. You are tresspassing if you travel a river system w/o land owners permission, thats how I understand Kansas law.. is it enforced? i have yet to see it that way and will anyone care? I have never run into a problem. as a side note, Kansas rivers are dirty, if you swim in them you come out muddy! Most of our kayak adventures happen in Missouri, oklahoma or Arkansas, they have better river systems. As far as the eagle, if you want to see mass numbers of them go to Squaw creek Missouri in december, on avergae there are 300 per day at the wildlife refuage area, they have hiking trails and viewing towers to watch all the diffrent birds. 5. In the spirt of johns adventiers here is my quick day trip. Fellow skydivers and one other friend joined me in a quick day trip down the Kansas ( Kaw, local name) river. The Kansas is 171 miles long and is one of just a few water ways in the state that are legal to float as Kansas has a owners rights to water ways. the river is on avg just 4 ft deep and is sand bottom with lots of sand bars along the route, in the summer time there is a lot of times that you must portage your boat. During the winter months bald eagles nest along the banks of this river and make for dramatic back ground as the birds are not normally in Kansas. We put in at LeCompton Kansas, the birth place of the civil war and our exit was 10 miles down stream in Lawrence Kansas, we did the float in just 5 hrs fighting a head wind for several miles killing our otherwise 4 mph float! but who can complain when it's 60 degrees in Kansas during the month of November? 1.getting boats ready 2. eagle looking back at us 3. eagle perched 4. father and son bonding while not skydiving. www.greenboxphotography.com
  6. I don't keep a persoanl journal, but I have started one for the upcoming birth of my 1st child. I though maybe some day she would like to read what events she has brought to us and has not even arrived yet. I have included pictuers of the changes my wife has gone through ( belly pics) as well as phots of where she will live for the 1st years of her life ( we are building and moving by the the time she is 2) and of course photos of her current sisters ( our dogs). I hope that it means something to her at some point in her life, but then again she may end up a crack whore and just want to sell the thing for drug money.. either way i guess it serves a purpose. 7. John Not that my day trip can compare to your adventuers, but this saturday myself and two other jumpers are going to kayak a small section of the Kansas river. This will be my 1st float down this river and should be neat since the bald eagels are arriving to thier winter homes along the river. I hope to get some good pic's of the birds. Keep the adventuers coming man, you show many of us new parts of our world. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  8. I'm nearly certain if there is one crater with water, then there are others that haven't yet been contaminated. And YET is the word of that sentence. Just give NASA a chance and they will contaminate the whole moon surface, look at the other junk we left on the surface back in first moon missions. America can sure fuck a place up in the name of science, peace or whate ever else! www.greenboxphotography.com
  9. I am not sure about the swab on a window, but do know that the police dog can be used and often times is problematic. Excoworker pulled over one night, cop suspects pot because he had a box of dryer sheets in his car and excoworker has a record of petty theft. Coworker does not concent to a car search and cop calls in dog to sniff over car. dog arrives, "hits" on the hood of the car, dogs reaction to scent is to scratch, so this guys hood was thrashed out because the cop lets the dog scratch for a long period of time, maybe because the lack of consent on the search???? Anyway, car is then torn apart late at night and the police find nothing at all, the police have to let him go. coworker has to gather all his stuff off the side of the road and car is trashed out pretty bad, the scratch marks from the dog ruined the hood and needed a repaint. coworked sued city, he lost in court because something like hazards of a nonconsent. some BS like that. www.greenboxphotography.com
  10. what a neat set of places, thanks for informing me of a new place John. www.greenboxphotography.com
  11. they left out the part that the water is now contamintaed due to the fact they smashed a rocket into the surface! www.greenboxphotography.com
  12. Well crying may not have served you well, I understand that it is a hard thing to fail a test and be removed from a program.. been there done that! I looked at the positive side and called it a redirection instead of a failure, it was a chance for me to try something else! best of luck to you and may you not be redirected into something else. 13. That brings me when i worked for a hospital before the no smoking on hospital property's thing took place. there was a smokers hut. Simply a glass box that looked like a bus stop but with 4 glass walls and a door. the fan that was to take the smoke out of the hut had stopped working and within days the glass walls where brown and you could see through them but it looked like a really bad window tiniting and yet each day there where "health care professionals" in there smoking and smelling worse then when they wentt into the smoke sauna! NASTY!!!!!! www.greenboxphotography.com
  14. I know the event is for breast cancer, but since the fact that smoking can cause cancer and not just lung cancer made the photo for that article seem very out of place. www.greenboxphotography.com
  15. Mine has held up well for years and I did a ton of tandems with it. I was just thinking the other day about copying it's patteren to make a new one as mine has faded in color. www.greenboxphotography.com
  16. I was skimming the article about jumping for the cause and I found it an odd choice of photos for the article. page 38 has a pic of 3 women standing behind a flag and the women on the left side of the photo was smoking. Is it just me or does a pictuer of a women smoking seem out of place for this type of event? www.greenboxphotography.com
  17. I always enjoy reading and seeing the images of your adventiers John. Very cool stuff! www.greenboxphotography.com
  18. After reading all these tandem problems over the last year, I am just glad that i walked away from a tandem rating with never having any major problems. www.greenboxphotography.com
  19. You got that right. land is a valued resource that could be used in the production of food and not be destroyed with dead people under it. such a selfish act to bury yourself with a large metal box, in a yet larger cemet box and then covered with a quarryed stone all the while filled with chemicals that will end up in the area ground water source. www.greenboxphotography.com
  20. Andrew you can try the academy in Eloy, is that still in business? this winter Tommy Dolphin here in KC has his senior rigging school, perhaps you can put in request with him. Fiesty is in Mt Vernon and of course there is Dave P here in KC as well. Good luck. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  21. still lovin my cool and groovy after all these years! www.greenboxphotography.com
  22. Old thread that I know is dead.. but I get PM's on jumping in Jamaica every few weeks. The "DZ" I jumped at is long gone, there never was a full time DZ business as we had to ferry in a plane to make the jumps happen and we did this for a few years but thats long gone! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  23. really? someone thought this was a great idea???? Looks like more junk that will never be. www.greenboxphotography.com
  24. Makes me think I should have a policy that the rig is mine to sell after deliquent time period. Thankfully I have never had this problem, but if mini storage people can sell your stuff after a non payment of so many days why can't a rigger recoup his work lost profits? Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  25. 100% of all rigs I do/did service for have AAD's, each having a Cypress brand and only One having HAD an Astra that later switched to Cypress. www.greenboxphotography.com
