  1. Was this an un-contained engine failure? Meaning- did parts of the compressor or turbine exit through the sides of the engine case?
  2. Because it is a sad social issue and a topic we feel the need to address from our soap box. My God, what a sick mind to do this to kids.
  3. Telstra Stadium is in Australia and I believe the NRL is National Rugby League. So to answer your question, I think they were an Aussie Army demo team.
  4. Yeah, I would love to hear the pic on skydive radio too.
  5. OK Ladies, smile and say "Death to America"
  6. The ballot is printed and published on the USPA web site in the Nov. issue of Parachutist. So, it _is_ on the Web site, but you have to dig around for it. I realize that we're sort of in the middle of the process, but I still think it wouldn't hurt the turnout/participation if the USPA had some information about it on the "News" or "Events" page of their site, or even on its own tab. Just the little blurb that MikeT posted originally would be good, possibly along with something like "the next step is [whatever], which will happen around [some date]". Eule Send your comment to USPA. Having worked there years ago, I do know that they listen to member input. If anyone out there isn't happy with something they are doing, voice your opinion to USPA Headquarters. Take action!
  7. I got a new job last year flying a Corporate GIV. What a nice ride! As a pilots plane it is awesome. I've done a couple of flights from our home base in Toledo, OH, non-stop to Europe. No sweat on fuel. We can get up, stretch our legs, grab a snack, hit the head. It's very pilot friendly. Oh yeah, it sure looks bitchin' too!!!!
  8. Many years ago I was in a situation where the police requested that I observed with them the video of a camera man who went in high speed with a main/reserve entanglement. I was able to observe a sequence of events that led to the malfunction and we learned something to hopefully help others. We erased the video when we were done. However I had bad dreams for a long while afterward. I wish I had never seen it. It was probably too close to home since I was a skydiver but ever since then I have had no interest in watching videos of anyone getting killed.
  9. Question from a computer dummie. When I download it, where should I put the file?
  10. The NTSB report said the pilot had a private pilot license. Therefore he/she can not fly commercially, that is, not as a job. This leads me to speculate that the pilot owned the airplane. I think your statement "the poor pilot!" should be "the rich, lucky, stupid pilot".
  11. Mike Johnston, currently manager at DeLand, was on it. I believe John Sherman was on it as well. They can probably fill in the blanks.
  12. Quote(CBS/AP) Pilots of the Comair commuter jet that crashed with 50 people aboard near Lexington, Ky., used the wrong runway, CBS News has learned. (portion removed) A little after 6 a.m., flight controllers gave the pilots clearance to take off from runway 22 and the pilots acknowledged the controllers with a "roger," Orr reports. However, it appears the pilots took off from runway 26, which is only half the size of the 7,000 foot runway 22. QuoteI have flown out of Lexington and can see how this could happen. When you taxi out to runway 22 you have to cross 26 very close to where you normally start your take off roll for 22. The crew apparently blew it and took off on the first runway they came to. What a damn shame!
  13. Thanks for asking the question in the first place. And thanks for letting me butt in on your thread!!!
  14. Hey Lummy, Your never going to believe this. IT WORKED!!! I'm going to open a beer and toast you. Next time your golfing near Detroit PM me and I will buy you one or two or....! Thanks again, Jack
  15. Hi Lummy, Thanks for the info. I have a broadband antenna on the roof. The cable runs into the house, through the little cable modem, then to the wireless router which has a cable off that directly to the desk top computer. Of course the laptop is wireless, getting it's signal from the router. Is everything cool with this set up for using the printer from my laptop? Thanks, Jack
  16. Hey this is good stuff for me as well. But I have one question. How do I determine/make the name for the computer upstairs. Also, does the computer upstairs have to be on WiFi? Mine is directly connected to the Broadband cable through the router. Thanks for your help!!!!
  17. Hi POP Your the man, so we don't doubt what your saying
  18. The news media's priority is money. This story sells.
  19. Oops! Well.... it's new to me and I loved it! Sorry if it's a repost. At least it's still true.
  20. ...search the word "failure". Check out the first listing.
  21. I want to drive it INTO the C-130!
  22. Yeah, I have a good first solo story. It's exactly the same as yours. And thats a good thing!! You will probably encounter abnormal situations as you continue flying. I hope no one has strange things happen on their first solo although it has and will happen. Congratulations on the first big step!! Safe flying.
