  1. This Rodger guy is some kind of a cult. He's actually in the Witness Protection Program becasue of threats from some of the Colombians. BSBD Harry FB 1574 Are you saying he's still alive? A bunch of people saw him die at his DZ a few years ago, just in case you didn't know. And yes, he definitely had a cult following. Jack
  2. I found a stray dog last week lurking around our house out here in the frozen rural Michigan farm country. She had a collar but no ID tags. She was skin and bones and I brought her into the house. Our other two dogs went ape shit but mellowed out after a while. We fed her and then my wife took her to our vet to see if she had a chip. Well, she had one!!! We were happy to contact the owner and give him the wonderful news that we had found his dog. Turns out he wasn't happy to hear from us, said the dog was a pain in the ass and had been lost for a week. Said he would come get her and "take care of everything." We put him on hold and had a quick discussion. This dog hadn't become skin and bones in one week and we figured his way of taking care of everything was to have her put down. No way we were going to let that happen so we told him that we would be willing to keep her. He didn't even hesitate for a second and said yes. Well Maggie has now joined our "pack" and seems to fit in with our other two guys. She's 14 years old and won't be with us for a very long time but at least she will have a full tummy, a warm home and a lot of love in her old age. So yes, chip you pets but make sure you always take proper care of them. The former owner agreed to have the chip registered to us. Our other two dogs are chiped as well. It was strange how this played out but it seems everyone is finally happy now. Jack
  3. So like, will all your calls now be drunk dialing?
  4. It was really just a one off fluke. The owner is from Mississippi and flew it in for the get together. I spoke with him last summer and he said that it was down right now with a bad engine. I doubt we will jump it again. And I'm sorry but I don't remember the N number. Jack
  5. I recently jumped a Lodestar in October 2003. It was at a get together with some pilots and skydivers in Tenn. The owner flew a few loads for fun. As I recall we only flew with 10 jumpers. What a blast from the past! I never thought I would ever jump one again. Now that I think about it, that was probably the last I will ever jump one. Jack
  6. Thanks, I got the link in Speakers Corner.
  7. I’m wondering if anyone can post a link or a copy of the political cartoon that was published in Denmark that has caused such an uproar. I have done some searches and can’t find it. Just curious to see it. Thanks!
  8. I just sent it to the guy that does our taxes. Looks like he's out of a job!
  9. Yeah, I just checked the weather. Not what I was hoping for. Do you know a good reastruant or bar that the locals frequent? Jack
  10. I will be in San Juan tomorrow, late afternoon, 1/23/06 and leave Wednesday morning. I will have all day Tuesday free. I'm staying at a hotel in Old San Juan. Got any good tips on what to do and see in the nearby area while I'm there? Thanks! Jack Gregory
  11. So what's a dolphin doing out in the nice green pasture with a cow? I just don't understand.
  12. Here's me in my office. A Lear Jet 25 on approach into JFK last summer.
  13. Yes but, the PR people of the Excelsior Project are long gone on to other things. I have seen Joe on at least two separate interviews claim that he went supersonic. I only heard this claim from him. I really don't think he got caught up in it, I think he created it. A legend in his own mind. It's still an awesome jump!!
  14. I got this from my weekly AOPA e-mail update. Looks like the operators will have to reduce the take-off weight by 375 lbs. until this issue is resolved. Jack FAA ISSUES EMERGENCY AD FOR RARE AIRPLANE MODEL The New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority has notified the FAA that the wings on Pacific Aerospace 750XL airplane models may not meet the ultimate load requirements for a maximum takeoff weight of 7,500 pounds. The maximum takeoff weight has been reduced to 7,125 pounds while the company develops a modification that will replace critical rivets with "AN" bolts. There are only five of these aircraft in the U.S. registry. Download the AD (http://download.aopa.org/epilot/2005/20052653ad.pdf ).
  15. Is it any good? How long is it? I think 11 inches!
  16. He did not go supersonic and he was not it freefall. He had a drouge. Sparky Quote I believe that you are correct but I would like to know your source of information. Basically I think Kittenger made a false claim and the press has taken it as fact. It was still an incredible jump and achievement. It just seems to me that he tainted it with a lie. Jack
  17. The focus of my question is this. Did Kittenger officially go supersonic or did he just start making the claim some years ago and the press/documentary producers just take it for granted that it was true? I remember reading a book in my teens that stated that he came close but that he did not go faster than the speed of sound. Can anyone find an official source (not Kittenger or the press) that has the answer? Jack
  18. I’m curious about something and I hope someone out there can help. I remember reading a book many many years ago about Kittengers jump. I recall it stating that he approached very close to the speed of sound but never did go Mach 1. Then around ten years ago I saw Kittenger on some Discovery Channel program saying he did go supersonic. Does anyone out there know of any verification of him going supersonic from a source other than Kittenger or the TV documentary producers? Thanks! Jack

  20. Hey, Nice job on the site! And... I can fill in the blank, 1981. It was won by a team I was on "The Other Plane 'ol People Folk". This was a combination of two CRW teams, "The Plane 'ol Folks" from SOD Farm/Z-hills and "The Other People" from Stormville, NY. We had built the first 10 plane. I forget the exact reason it got transferred to us CRW dogs at the Z-hills Turkey Meet that year but I believe that hard partying and after hours antics might have had something to do with it. We had it on the wall of our living room in Tampa for six months and then sent it to the Stormville guys for the rest of the year. Let the good vibes roll, Jack Gregory
  21. Hey Scottie, What's the old saying? Oh yeah. "If we knew we were going to live this long we would have taken better care of ourselves!" Nice seeing you at Rantoul last summer. Happy Birthday! Jack G.
  22. In the mid-80's eight of us, all civilian, did a demo at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Fl. One of the eight was an eye doctor who was involved with some local business/military community organization and set it up. It was on the beach on the base and was for the Special Ops. Command that is there. We signed waivers they let us jump a US Army UH-1 Huey from around 8000ft. We were all seatbealted to the floor by the doors, four on each side, with our legs hanging out. The really cool thing was that the crew was doing some training and shot a bunch of assault landings with us on board before they took us up for the jump. The jump went well and we joined their picnic, the usual barbecue and beer thing. Next thing I knew a four star general walked up to us, Gen. Lindsey, and thanked us for doing the jump!!! Blew me away big time. To top it all off, we all received in the mail a formal Thank You card from a two star general about a week later. I still have that card. It was a class act by the US Army that I have always been thankful for. Jack
  23. Besides the reasons listed above, there is another reason Parachutist couldn't/shouldn't do it. If they gave you a free page they would have to do it for anyone else who lost a loved one. See where I'm going? I think the best idea is to collect the money and give it to the family of the deceased. Please don't hold a grudge against Parachutist because they couldn't help you with your request. I am sorry for your loss. When it hits close to home it can really be an emotional roller coaster. I've been there. Jack
