Hey there!!! It's been the same here. Skydived solid for +-9.5 years and then life kinda got in the way. Wife, daughter, house, car and other interests took priority. I thought I was only gone for just over a year until last week I realized it had been 2 years!!! Did a refresher this weekend during the Swakopmund Desert Boogie and notched up another 5 jumps. Was awesome to be back in the sky...although I never really left... Cheers and welcome back. Drags me down, like some sweet gravity... Hey all, Well it's been 10 years in the making and half of 'em happened in my first 2 years...but today I finally make my 1000th jump!!! Did a 4-way star from 7 grand with my brother, Scrawney, who gave me my first jump course a decade ago. Jumped over the Swakop River which is currently flowing for the 2nd time in 11 years. Cool landing on the beach. On Independence Day and got pied by all including my 4 year old daughter. A memorable 1000th to say the least. Hope the next 1000th doesn't take a decade. Hey there all, It's been quite a while since the last time I was here. It's been 6 months since the last time I flew my suit. (Forgive me for I have sinned). So yesterday I set my personal best record from a Grand Caravan over the dunes of Swakopmund and flying back to the club. Exit alt was 11900' deployed 3000' Pro-Track recorded it's max of 119sec but I know the 2 minute barrier that seemed to be eluding me has been broken. Average speed was 48mph. Stoked as hell. Holy shit... I've just heard a few minutes ago. Although I only met Tonto a few times he had a huge impact on my life as a skydiver. He got me hooked onto the nylon crack. And even though we only shared one wingsuit flight together he was always there for anyone who needed advice on skydiving and life. He will be sorely missed by the Birdmen of the Namib. Ca-Caah!!!! I'd love to buy a house!!! But the house and property prices in Swakopmund, Namibia must be one of the highest in Southern Africa! Your lowest house price would be around N$450,000.00 and that would be a small 2 bedroom flat. Average house price is +-N$800,000.00. With the current exchange rate, that would be about US$114,000.00!!! What can I get over there for that price? And with my salary which isn't bad at all, my bank will only give me a loan of N$350,000.00!!! So buying is not an option. 14 years ago a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, lounge, kitchen, dining room, 2 garage house would cost you N$120,000.00 now the same place will cost you about a million plus!!! Well after a shit week of note... We finally found a place to stay, a nice town house. But with all the extra rent, deposit, moving,etc...it's going to cost us an extra 10,000 bucks this month!!! Well Swakopmund is a small town, there aren't a lot of houses available. Those that are are being rented out to the movie crew currently in town and those for sale are at rediculous prices!!! I was barely legal drinking age, when a buddy of mine and I were going fishing. We stopped and got a 6-pack of 'Bud'. Put it on ice and loaded it in the boat. After awhile, we cracked one o' those icy-cold brews and took a long slug and immediately spit it out! It was 'skunky'! Worst crap I ever tried to drink. Yep she knows we're having a kid. The worst is my wife had just finished decorating the "baby's room"!!! She put so much effort into it and now we have to repaint it white. So...just when you think you've got enough on your plate, life dishes you some broccolli!!! I've just bought a new car. I'm about to start a new job in 2 weeks time. My wife is going to give birth to our first child in 2 months. And today our landlady drops the bombshell that we have to move out in 2 months as her son is moving to town and will get the perfect house that we've been staying in for the past year. It sounds silly but I just had to cry. It's a lot of shit to have happen all at the same time. I know there's people in worse off situations than mine but fuckit man, it just fucking sux!!!
