  1. I agree, he probably didn't care at all. I think that tandem passengers, especially those that are completely new to this sport don't understand the seriousness of a malfunction yet. They really have no comprehension because everything about that first jump is sensory overload. PcCoder.net
  2. thanks for the post, it is great to see the positive posts in here as well. i am very happy you dealt with the problem appropriately. PcCoder.net
  3. wow, i didn't realize we have had more deaths in August this year than any other year all the way back to 1997? considering how much the equipment has improved over that time period and how the number of jumps has remained relatively constant?? (not sure about that), it seems to me that safety was not an issue in many minds this summer. PcCoder.net
  4. I second this. Great tool. PcCoder.net
  5. What is going on this past August? That seems like an aweful large number. I am still a newbie, but have we had such large numbers the past few years in one month? Is it time to stop and do a mandatory national safety day at all USPA dropzones? PcCoder.net
  6. i'd jump a lot more than now, pretty much whenever i had nothing else to do PcCoder.net
  7. Inside the Cutaway DVD cover it discusses how they both went on to get their A license during the filming of the movie and insisted on doing alot of the jumps in the movie. Also, that they spent a good deal of time in the Orlando Skyventure wind tunnel. PcCoder.net

    PC gone mad?

faster and faster the world is spinning out of control, until such time as we have feared ourselves into complete and total seclusion. Nobody will be able to speak to, look at, or breath towards another human being. thank god for lawyers! not. PcCoder.net
  9. Sounds like he was a great person. I am sorry for the loss to everyone who knew him. PcCoder.net

    Sabre2

I jumped my first 99 jumps on rental gear, primarily being a 170 Spectre. My first 4 jumps so far on my Sabre2 170 have all involved the following... 1. Long, long snivel 2. Mega-soft transition from freefall to under canopy 3. Slider not coming down quickly. 4. End cell closure. My wing-loading on this canopy is right at 1.088 so I don't know if I am not heavy enough to stop the end cell closure problem; but regardless, a little tug on the toggles and my slider is above my head and the end cells are fixed. The thing that has bugged me the most so far is on my last jump after opening and doing my control check I initiated a strong front riser turn and when I came out of it I realized that the canopy wanted to continue to spin downward. Upon looking up at the canopy I realized the end cell on the side I was turning into had collapsed again. :( Not cool. Toggle tugs brought it back again, but that leaves me worrying about what if it does this close to the ground?? Overall I like the canopy so far, just need to see after another 100 jumps.
  11. yes, this sucks, I just moved to south melbourne and anticipated beginning to jump at Sebastian alot more PcCoder.net
  12. Just picked up Kill Bill V2, Taking Lives (watched it just now - was really good) and Godsend. PcCoder.net
  13. London, England. Why does everyone assume it would be in the United States? PcCoder.net
  14. that's exactly what I was thinking. PcCoder.net
  15. I was told it was a freefly friendly rig, which is one of the main reasons I purchased it. PcCoder.net
  16. the fuel pump requires electric power and the aircraft needs fuel. my dz has pretty much pushed Mirage as THE rig to get. I didn't like it as much as the Javelin, and didn't care so much about the wait as long as I get what I want. PcCoder.net
  17. hee hee, amusing. PcCoder.net
  18. I finally got my near gear today. I have been waiting for over 5 1/2 months for this container. Everything is brand new. Javelin Odyssey (stainless everything, hip and chest rings, hackey, pin stripes, deluxe back pad) PD Sabre2 170 PD 160 Reserve Cypress 2 I hope you like the pictures. I am very excited about getting to jump it; however we are without power now at Skydive Space Center, so it'll have to wait until next weekend. PcCoder.net
  19. I am in agreement as well. Although it is very difficult to lose weight; there is one finite rule that an overweight person can do that I cannot to reach his/her goals. DO NOT EAT. Ok, not very realistic, but seriously we are probably both (thin and big people) stuck dealing with our issues in different ways. As far as how I would rather be? I do not think anyone could fairly answer that question. When I was young and VERY thin it was debilitating in its own special way. Try getting a date when you are under 130 lbs and almost 6 feet tall. Noone wants to include you, pick you for the team, girls don't look at you, etc. And I am sure being overweight could have been very similar. I remember 2 years ago when I got a divorce I was pleasantly suprised by the level of attention I was receiving from the opposite sex suddenly. It was exciting to know that now I am the hot commodity on the meat market. hee hee. I was being approached by very good looking, built women that in high school would have turned up their noses to me and gone after the big jock football player. So, now 33 I feel fortunate to be in the postion where I can get more attention and respect than when I was younger. However, I never forget how I once felt about being thin, and it was no picnic believe me. Oh well, life has its changes, and you just have to deal with them in your own way. Personally, from my experience it is very liberating to be a certain way, make a change and then get to reap the benefits. So, fat, skinny, what have you, once you've made the change life can be much more interesting and fun. And so long as you are happy, that's what counts. PcCoder.net
  20. what slow months? we just have lower prices to encourage other jumpers to come here (skydive space center) PcCoder.net
  21. you are so correct. my whole life I have been very thin. when I graduated high school in '89 I was 133 lbs. at 5'11". Well, I am still 5'11" and only through the grace of my turning 30 a couple years ago that I have FINALLY begun to gain weight and now am up to 160. But it wasn't a gradual gain, I was pretty much the same all the way up to my very late 20s. And people who aren't thin just say, eat more, or work out more. It's not that simple when you have a high metabolism. I eat and always have eaten more than everyone I know. I have always been active and did plenty of sports, running around, lifting weights, etc. It's just genetics. However; now I look really good and have the same body most guys had in their 18-21 range while the other guys my age have beer bellies and couch potato physical characteristics. We're all on our own little cycles. PcCoder.net
  22. I was married on August Friday the 13th, 11 years ago....we aren't married anymore. PcCoder.net
  23. Of course, it depends on where you live. Here in Florida (a right to work state) your employer can fire you because he doesn't like the way you look and give you no reason why he did it. PcCoder.net
  24. Thank you all for your participation. Now I feel I can adequately speak the lingo at the DZ and understand what the hell everyone around me is saying. PcCoder.net
