  1. As far as I could tell, this first year was more of a demonstration than a fully serious competition. Who won what event will probably be quietly awarded thier honors when the dust settles. I guarantee that more than anything, Dwain would want there to be a 2nd Annual Royal Gorge Go-Fast Games and not a bunch of assinine bickering. 2. Dwains stunt aside, the 3 days of BASE jumping at the Royal Gorge was the MOST DAM FUN EVERYONE INVOLVED EVER HAD! The Bridge employees were the most positive and helpful people ever. They bent over backwards to make sure we jumpers were completely catered to in every way. Even the Railroad folks that run the Royal Gorge Express (who were NOT keen on this idea initially AT ALL) were as accomadating, and impressed with the smoothness of the BASE portion of the games as we could have hoped. This Bridge is the most beautiful location for a BASE event imaginable. It has the scariness of a building, the visuals of a tall cliff and yet it's a bridge. What more could you ask for. Oh yeah, teh Gondola was not too shabby either and the hotel rooms in Canon City are wicked cheap and they love the extra tourism. The brotherly and sisterly love felt by all who were jumping is something that I will cherish forever. Jumping with Yuri, Tom Aiello, Gardner and Davidek, Chief Yellow pants and the SLC crew, Jeb and all the rest was truly a dream come true. Thank you Go-Fast, Vertigo and the Royal Gorge Staff from the bottom of my Heart. It was the event of a lifetime with an unfortunate ending. 3. "The Monkey", listen to EVERYTHING thing they say and relax, you gonna love it dude! Way to get into the sport the right way, instead of the way I did. God have mercy on my soul. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  4. OK OK, let's hear it for the girls who get horny just watching BASE jumpers. Seriously, God bless em all. And yes Narcimund, all the dudes as well. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  5. Way good job on the BASE in 12 hrs. Regarding the 1 hr. sleep, to quote "The Spiders From Mars", you can sleep when you're dead. That story from Craig ,however, brought back way to many close memories from my little building strike episode. At least my strike was over in a flash, it was the aftermath (hospital, jail, lawsuit, court, years worth of fines) that hurt the most. Rippin good yarn, though it makes me wan't a valium. 6. Easy now, my wife might read this thread. She might be the best BASE gal ever. As a matter of fact, there is more understanding, forgiving and supportive BASE girlfriend/wives than you could think of. And I don't just mean, "Watching you makes me horny", those are a dime a dozen. BIG ASSED CONGRATS on your B baby, and yer choice of ladies. Hope to see you in Moab sometime!!! 7. Hey Dog - wife o' Spiderbaby here. The husband just told me I had to come read your post - after being forced to give up riding 18 years ago, I will be getting back in the saddle tomorrow only a lovey T.bred mare. 16.2 hands and a big ole rump - just how I like 'em! Anyway - Spiderbaby has been trying to understand what it means to me to ride again, to be at the stable, to shovel sh*t and generally return to the life of a horse person (which means I'll be spending less time as "BASE Hostes"). I think your post helped to get my point across that horse people are as fanatical about and displaced w/o their horses as BASE'ers are jumping. If you can, come out to the Turkey Boogie and enjoy some good old fashioned bro time with a helluva bunch of folks. I'd love to say thank you for your post in person and talk some equine. -SpiderbabySpouse "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  8. There aint no modest buildings dude. All buildings are screaming nightmares straight from hell, raining down fire and terror on whomever thinks they have what it takes. Be careful. ***"I came to kick ass and chew gum, and I'm all out of gum"*** "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  9. Just got back, the weather is perfect in Moab right now, and will most likely remain so through December. Then it gets off and on, with great spots here and there. See yall' at the Turkey Boogie!!! Giving Jimmy and Marta a buzz is a great idea. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  10. As a founding member of "Team Scared Shitless", Tom could not scare me any more than I already am. My teammates Jimmy Pouchert and Jess Neuger have contests to see who can be the most afraid of BASE jumping. Jimmy got PC assisted from a 1200' cliff so he is currently the team Captain. *** "I came to kick ass and chew gum, and I'm all out of gum" *** "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  11. Excellent, you can steer him right in Texas and I got the Colorado deal. Case closed. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  12. I've sent you an E-mail! "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  13. You got it 3 ring, that's exactly what I meant. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  14. I started with 24 skydives and climbed my local A to about 400' with my Vector container, pud straight pin pull out PC, sail slider and a PD 190 for a canopy. The only BASE jumper within 4 hours in any direction of my home town was the Grimm Reaper. I didn't have enough skydives, the right equipment no mentor no nothing. This resulted in my first 100 BASE jumps being way more exciting than the sport already is. The point being, listen to the posts you have gotten so far and be very certain your'e ready in every way. Best of luck dood! "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  15. If Gardners advice doesn't work, fake a grand mal siezure. Then jump and claim temporary insanity! "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  16. Hey #428, excpect a far more sober and well prepared Spiderbaby this year running the "Jug or not" site in Moab. If they have the skills, we should be able to handle a few more jumpers than last year. (you have a slot at the front). See ya at Bridge Day baby!!!! "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  17. I have a Wonderhog container with a Bruiselite 220 and a piglet reserve. Go old school or go home, any takers? "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  18. Yeah Jimmy, if ya hadn't fessed up, "Team Scared Shitless" might of had it's scared name tarnished. Your'e still the Captain baby!!!! "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  19. I proposed to my girlfriend at Bridge Day 02' while she was working in the Vertigo booth. I was wearing my Ill Vision hat as I dropped to one knee and popped the question. She was so happy she bought me a brand new Warlock and Dagger 244 right there on the spot. That's when I new I had picked the right girl. Good question "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

    Snekor

I thought all you Eastern Block types jumped homemade rigs anyway, why all the fuss over some obscure frenchie rig. Order a Warlock and be done with it. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  21. Yes Narcimund, that's what it means. Don puts a lot of effort into the Labor Day Boogie, and if you haven't been, it's not to be missed. Be safe this weekend. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  22. I heard the Huckster has a fancy cell phone that also takes pictures. I just wonder where he had to hide it to sneek it in. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

    Flick 322

I gotta a Wonderhog in fabulous shape if the Reactor comes in too late for B-Day. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

    used gear

Fellow Texan, I too have around 140 BASE jumps on a Wizard, and it fits and flys just great. Like everyone else says, get a bigger canopy or go for the water. Since this is Vertigo gear, call Jimmy and Marta and they can help. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
  25. Sorry "The111", but I agree with Huckfinn. The title of that post would never have been thought up and posted by another true BASE jumper. Whenever one of the, skydiving only community slams thier tiny parachute into a perfectly manicured 100 acre field at 200 miles an hour, like every weekend, you will not find one of us going onto your sites with any comments other than sincere condolences. Both sports are rough on the body of the participants, as well as our family and friends. Let's just be a little more sweet when were talking about nasty accidents like this.
