  1. Yes I did drive the whole way and you are your own packing concession. At least thats how it was back then. It may have changed some what but a little research should give you the info you'll need. My first trip lasted 10 months before I returned home and I was only there two weeks before leaving again for another 9 months. I was in the same boat you are in now. Two different bullshit low paying jobs. No time to jump no extra money to spend, blaa blaa blaa. I was Al Bundy with out the red headed harpy. On the road I found I was making WAY more money packing than I was with two straight jobs at home and I was my own boss going where and when I wanted. Plus because I was living in the back of my truck or my tent, I was not paying rent anywhere except the storage unit where my crap was stashed. If you have no real responsibilities at this point in your life and this sounds interesting to you then get going what you still can. The boogie season is just starting. You can not begin to imagine how much you will grow as a result of doing this. k P.S. If things go horribly wrong for you on the road please don't blame me for it. The road is a grand adventure. Some times good some times bad but hey such is life
  2. One day in 93 I threw every thing I owned into storage, quit my job, and with $250.00 to my name headed headed out for the boogie circut to pack. Best decision I have ever made. It changed my life. 13 years later and expecting my first child, I'm finnaly going back to get a real job. If your thinking of doing the same beware, Top Ramin is in your future but there is almost no end to the adventures you'll have.
  3. I see your point. Fortunatly for me, I have not been exposed to those who take it too far while training. Perhaps I've been lucky.
  4. True but those people are going to hurt people anyway regardless of weather or not they know martial arts. They are the assholes of the world and they are every where
  5. It's not at all that I disagree. But at the very core of Ed question is the realisation that there is no one "way humans naturally fight". This is the very reason why there are so many different styles. You see. The very same can be said of Shoot-Wrestling, Chin-naw, Judo... the list goes on. Lots of people have come to the realisation that real fights tend to end up on the ground. Oh yeah, and all the "fancy twirling and such" has purpose not in a fight but for muscle memory. Have someone perform a Ju Jitsu Kata (form) for you and it will indeed have it's fair share of "fancy twirling"... mind you, a whole lot less that you would ever see in a Chinese Art. No argument that other arts can and are benificial to know. When I say that Ju Jitsu is how humans fight I come to that by watching other animals fight in nature. Snakes, Goats, Bears, Lions, and hampsters all have a stlye that works best for their bodies and stregnth. Humans are no different. It is true that we can learn from animals and adapt some of their movements but when it comes down to winning at all cost, that happens on the ground
  6. In my experience it is a good idea to be well rounded in several different fighting styles but when it comes right down to it Ju Jitsu almost always wins. Fighting rarely takes place "toe to toe". Sooner than later the fight will go to the ground usually in the first few seconds. If your opponent lacks ground skills, the fight is as good as over. Some one proficent only in Kung fu, Karate or some other standing art, will find that all of their skills become null and void the moment they are on the ground.
  7. Nothing says ass kicking like Ju Jitsu. It is the way humans naturally fight. None of that fancy twirling and such. Mostly the art involves taking your opponent to the ground and either choking him out or breaking something like an arm, wrist, ankle ect. It may not be the prettiest art to watch but then fighting is not pretty
  8. but at least when I'm making an arse of myself in public now, it's a choice, not a habit that I was allowed to develop as a child. We're not diong these kids any favors by treating them as little emporers. No argument there.
  9. Simply put, to remember what its like to be a little kid is to understand the little kid. I'm guessing you had a shitty childhood if all you can see is the negitive aspects. Too bad for you. There is so much wonder in those little bastards.
  10. Oh yea, I can do it with the reserve in so no repack will be needed

  13. What I heard started it was that supposedly, the roman catholic church and the king of France decided to do away with the nights templar movement that had been growing in popularity. Fearing that the Templar influence was out pacing their own the Church and the King of France descended upon the nights templar and slaughtered them on Friday the 13th. At least that’s what the history channel said anyway so of course it must be true
  14. You were just waiting for some one to post something like that weren't you?
  15. Who can tell me why friday the 13th is considered unlucky
  16. Holy shit I hope they caught the guy. I don't understand Spanish. Can any one tell if there where survivors?

  20. [ The firefighter has to go into a burning building to save a life, that doesn't mean he shoots the doorman in the head for fun along the way. .jim True but a fire fighter will cut a big fucking hole in the roof spray water every where and even tear walls down. The point is that some times in spite of our best efforts, damage is some times unavoidable.
  21. What experience in this matter do you have? I was referring to a comment made by some one that implied that the current situation with NK is the result of the current administrations hard line approach when in fact is is the result of years of neglect and cowardice on the part of the clinton administration. If you Google Clinton and North Korea, you'll have all the info you need
