  1. yes, plan a day trip to Glacier. But if you're covering that much territory on the way up, you should be able to pick up various microbrew's along the way. mj Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  2. Antioch, 1979. 7 static lines, 1 clear and pull, then 3 each 5 sec, 10, 15 20 and 30. On my first 5 second, with an inboard ripcord, I took my eyes off the handle to help my arch and grabbed my harness instead, gave two strong pulls then went to my bellywart reserve. Jumpmaster Skiz St.Goar was not happy with me at all. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  3. "loosen her up a bit!!" Is that possible???? 2008 Chateau Mad John Zig Mar Zin will be attending. We're bottling it this Sunday and drinking and early batch tomorrow at Byron. 4. $20 buy-in, and entertainment provided by the illustrious Barry Chase. PS Canadians bluff a lot. mj
  5. Plus seeing you support Topless Tuesday was a definite treat. Burned on my retinas. madjohn
  6. I was all set, having posted earlier in the month, but I yield to Doc for having surmised that Sky Mama was asleep. Good job. But Some people have to learn how to delete all the earlier posts in their posts or the printouts could stretch from here to LP!! madjohn PS. And I think I migjht go this year because it sounds like fun. Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  7. We'll definitely give it a try. I'm going to Elsinore next month for the record attempt, finally. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  8. Just got my plane tickets confirmed for LP See everyone there. Apologies to Sky Mama if this is too early, I'm still on a Belize High. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  9. I hate this boogie almost as much as I hate Lost Prairie. Don't come here. madjohn
  10. Just got back from 4 days of shreding snow at Tahoe, wine tasting yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and Belize next Friday. Retirement is highly recommended. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  11. Great, so are you up for the naked horny gorilla over the Blue Hole? madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  12. Paul Fries has a little excess material behind his knees on his suit. We have docked several stairsteps. When I take a grip on his knee material, Paul locks onto my shoulder with his left hand and it has flown very solidly. We have tried to add a third person on the right side to get a wedge on several occasions but not succeeded. I think a larger wedge formation is entirely possible. madjohn
  13. We've done this more than once in Byron, if you want to come to the San Francisco Bay Area. I'll be available (and others) if you want to come down and progress through the Aff course; If you're determined on getting your A-license, it would depend on the weather. I'd agree, Eloy's a safer choice, weather-wise. mad john Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  14. Keep it up, Pat. Just 18 years behind you. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  15. I have over 3000 jumps on my 3 Spectres, a 170 and 2 150's, different ages. While I love the openings and will continue to buy them as long as John makes them, I do get an occasional slammer, whether I packed it (flat pack) or a packer pro-packed it. So I go along with the post that any canopy can slam you. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  16. I first met Kurt when the "Canadian Kids", Kurt, Keith, Paul, and Jim first showed up at Lost Prairie with about 200 or less jumps. Fun guys all. It was great seeing them every year and how much they had progressed. Kurt managed to show up the most. My favorite memory was watching him beat on Pete Hill who had "taken " his slot on a formation. Pete figured he'd screwed up and dropped out of the slot but on the debrief we concluded that Kurt was wrong and Pete had been in the right place. Never forgot that. I'll miss his smiling face. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  17. I am very sad to tell you that Al, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last Thursday morning November 5. He died of what appears to have been a severe allergic reaction, and early findings indicate an undiagnosed condition that he has had for many years. Al’s mom is holding a church service on Saturday November 21 in Stockton Kansas , the small town in western Kansas where Al grew up. Al's wife, Lynne, is planning a gathering in Nor Cal on Saturday, December 5th. IM me for details My favorite memories of Big Al are seeing him in the door of an airplane and looking back at us and saying "I love this shit". Somes it up. I might never have made it to Lost Prairie if it hadn't have been for Big Al. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.

  19. Thanks, I checked and I'm missing from the list. Can send some info as a lot of the folks around me in the list are from Lodi. I'll be happy to keep the Muff Love going in NorCal. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  20. I couldn't find anything on a Search, so did anyone take over after we lost Johnnie Gates? I used to send him new names and he's mail them cards. Would like to keep it going. Muff Brother number 1 is back in the sport at Lodi. madjohn MB 166 Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  21. The Byron SnowWhores plan on hitting it a lot this winter. For single days we often go to Kirkwood, closest. Several of us have passes at Squaw and I'll be midweeking at Alpine a lot when there's fresh Pow on the menu. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  22. OK, I can fit it in my helmet. It may be the only suit I wear in Belize. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
  23. Hey, Shell, did you really stop 20 jumps short of 1000? We should fix that in Belize. love, madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone.
