  1. huh? a mate of mine had a missed pull last summer messing him pretty bad up,im sure the guys who saw it and recorded it wouldnt have minded if they hadnt seen that.. black humor ... Sometimes you know the person is gonna do something stupid regardless of what you tell them... might as well be there to have a recording just in case... this is totally off-topic of course, and is not a judgemet of what Yuri did - just an explanation of the somewhat insensetive humor.
  2. Vry very impressive ( glad you jump an HDV cam). glad you are alive. But I would second the stowed 48PC - they are HUGE - i have seen a jumper shift the whole container while pulling a stowed 48 out of tight spandex BOC - which on a light grip would mean a possible missed pull. I wouldn't want to be the jumper - but I would love to be holding the camera.

    BD DVD Cover

I thought about that long and hard - and I am guessing that the whole reasoning behind that was so they can put "the year of the trains" on the railroad tracks in the UPPER LEFT. also the back cover, bottom paragraph references a "BriSge Day" ( S instead of a D)
  5. female velcro on top of the helmet. male velcro of on the bottom of the bullet. stick it on, and cover with male velcro witch will push the bulletcam further onto the helmet. Works quite well. see pic attached.
  6. according to the research I have done awhile back, Powerex and Energizer were the highest rated. I belive Powerex 2200mah and Energizer 2500mah best charger I believe was a Maha model. http://www.thomas-distributing.com/ was the place I got it from and I believe it was competitive.
  7. majority of my not so many jumps are between Flik 293 vtec and troll 265 mdv ( dw and not ). I am fairly confident saying that the troll is a bit more ground hungry, while the flik is "a bus". I have always opted to jump the Troll in higher winds. Otherwise I didn't feel that the center vent on the DW made any difference. Again, I don't have that many jumps, but they are all fairly recent, so take it for what it's worth.
  8. 1.38 PM ? that's what happens when you dayblaze ...
  9. I will second others opinions. I take the gloves off right before exiting. It might be cold, but the short canopy ride is not going to freeze your hands off. And if the PC mesh snags on your velcro/stitching whatever - you might have no canopy ride at all. Also, imagine missing your toggle ( assuming you don't have big grabs ) and having to take a few tries to get it - not a scenario I want to experience first hand. And yes, we were jumping this past weekend, it was below 20F with strong winds...
  10. lived first 12 years of my life there, I am sure I can help....
  11. you are going on a trip planning to have an object strike ? Wow, you have balls. What kind of wall do you plan to hit ? I heard sandstone is softer than granite.
  12. where does he mount the TV, what kind of mount does he use, and how the hell does he carry that thing up the ladders ? :) couldn't help it ...
  13. Congrats Ghetto. May I add to the advice of people TO GET SOME GOOD GEAR ?
  14. hey mr. 570, I am not trying to be negative here, but there just isn't that many posters that have over 100 objects to make this poll really worthwhile - why not do something a bit differnt : a poll for people with more than x ( say 20 ) jumps : how jumps to object ratio have a few numbers, like 5:1 4:1 1:1, etc - that will give a good idea as well. Though I do realize that the ratio really slopes up as the jump numbers go up, since there's only so many objects one can open/jump/burn in their weekend driving vicinity :) cya

    Tracking Question.

I'm sorry, I cannot help myself. it goes something like : By maximizing freefall time, you minimize object strike potential ( aka - pull so low, that even if you have a 180, you hit the water since you don't have enough 'tude to make it to the cliff face ). :)
  16. MY BAD. I belive there's some footage of a tool like that on Jimmy Hallidays RADIX DVD. It shows Shane McConkey using one while skiing of a cliff. On the DVD the footage looked good. I would imagine a tiny CCD on a cam like that=great during good light, but not so good in low light. but this is all a speculation
  17. I have used one for about 50 BASE jumps. I have also mounted it on 2 skydives on my left glove. It works well, but sometimes the bulk of the fannypack is annoying. I recommend searching previous posts - there's alot of info out there already. Also, I wouldn't recommend it for mounting on the goggles - since A) it's fairly heavy as compared to the weight the goggle strap is meant to carry. B) it will move ALOT if you head is exposted to airflow.(unless you want to have a uncomfortably tight strap) C) you would have to have it WAaay out, unless you want half your head in the pic or you will have to use a fairly narrow lens. ...
  18. I thought you would never ask :) I got 'em (frame grabs) on tards, mcconkeys, and mcconkeys handcam.... as well as regular slider ups and downs. jumper 173lbs + gear Troll DW 265 MDV
  19. for what its worth, when I was getting my US Citizenship, I had to appeal INS/BCIS denial. By law they had to respond within x amount of time, which they have not (obviously). I then contacted an attorney, who wrote a letter to the regional director of BCIS ( what INS became after 9/11) stating that his next course of action is a lawsuit. 30 days later I got an approval letter. I am sure it's not that "smooth" with NPS, but perhaps if an attorney would be handling it, it could be "expedited" ...
  20. I sell stuff on eBay. not sure how I can help anybody ....
  21. now with this topic started - yeah, so the camera is alive - but the battery is dead. Not dead - dead. But it is no longer recognized as a Infolithium. I imagine that whatever the NVRAM/EPROM chip is on it for the camera to read the info off off it got corrupted. any thoughts ?
  22. after a successful 3 way, I was about 20 feet short to land in the alternate landing are ( got wet right past the huge boulder - did NOT need boat rescue) videocamera - after the whole thing was taken apart, cleaned, lubed and cleaned again - it's back to life still camera - haven't done anything yet, but should be same procedure as the videocamera cellphone - once it dried it worked fine, and is still kicking radio - is an experienced swimmer having tasted the Snake river this year - it worked just fine (again) after drying for 2 days.
  23. not sure what you are referring to. But, from my personal assumtions, the scenario I saw was caused by having too big of a pilot chute and too short of a delay. I am not saying that a longer delay should of been taken with a 48 - just that higher airspeed would of sped the PC inflation up. Also, like I said in a previous post the PC also took it's time unfolding from the shape it was in when it came out of the BOC. I PERSONALLY, and from my limited experience think that if you want to jump a big PC handheld at a low (not super low - no experience/opinion) alti, and get the canopy out fast, you should leave the ZP material exposed, thus letting the skirt cartch air right from the beginning of the freefall ( obviously short freefalls, I believe carnage was caused by having the PC inflate on a long delay and having the jumper flip over or something close to that - somebody please correct me if I am wrong ) By all means, these are my opinions and assumptions based on what I have seen, and how I understand the gear - if I am wrong, I most definatly would like to know where and how. tnx P.S. I don't think the extra length the multi gives can inhibit the PC inflation speed - I would just imagine that by having a longer bridle one places the PC further away from the burble ( which is the reason why BASE has been using longer 9ft bridles in a first place) - again, please correct me if I am wrong.
  24. Yo, on that note. Saturday, while doing a 350ft platfrom on an A. Jumper stowed 48" with a Vented Flik 293 no multi. I saw him drag the PC for awhile before he actually got linestrech ( pitch after 1 sec of freefall ). From what it looked like : the PC took it's time getting bridle strech ( heavy PC ) the PC took it's time inflating (big PC ?) I went handheld 2 second 46" - no hesitation. I had a 3 sec longer canopy flight than him, and we both flew an identical pattern.
  25. much faster than a SL... at least in what I have seen. From video : I PCAd 3 jumpers from 230ft, and they had 10sec canopy ride. I then did a TARD, and had a 15 sec ride. Were all 4 of the canopies the same (particularly vented v. unvented) and under the same loading conditions? again i miss something... but SL1 : 205 lbs jumper Troll 265 MDV SL2 : 220lbs jumper Flik 293 Vtec SL3 : 215 lbs jumper Flik 293 Vtec TARD : 175lbs jumper Troll 265DW MDV hmmm, now this makes a bit more sense :( There was another jumper who is ~~ 130lbs on a unvented Fox 265 - I will try to see if I can get the canopy ride time on that.
