Then: Single, packing bitch, living with mom or in bunkhouse at DZ, no job (in between jobs ;) Didn't care about much other than skydiving. Jumping every chance I got. Now: Common law, 6 week old son (born on leap day Feb. 29th), own a house, good 9-5 job, hate packing, jump maybe 6 weekends a year. Don't care about much other than my son and my girlfriend. Would it be illegal to farm fish in your swoop pond all summer just so you can yank them out in the winter? Just a thought... You currently fly a Pilot 168? This happens to be a great canopy for someone buying a first rig. When I was looking to go from a 150 to a 135, there happened to be a guy selling an older rig with a 135. Canopies were of comparable condition, so we just switched canopies and he advertised his rig for sale with the choice of a 150 or 135. The seller automatically got more interest in his rig because it was now an option for a wider range of jumpers, particularily new jumpers looking for a cheap old rig with a starter canopy. The type of jumper to be jumping the smaller parachute wouldn't necessarily by looking to buy that rig. The buyer chose the 150 and I downsized for absolutely free. A Shilouette is a very nice canopy for someone with your experience (by that I only mean jump numbers, I obviously don't know how well you fly). If you can sometimes struggle and get a ZP 170 in there but it is tight.. then a Shilouette 170 will fit in there perfect and easy. It is a very fun canopy to fly but also is forgiving and has nice openings and a good recovery. I would demo one of those if you are concerned about going to a 150. Your canopy not being able to fit in your container is not a good reason to downsize IMO. In fact I think it is a really bad reason to downsize. Unless of course your instructors tell you it is OK. I don't play guitar often enough though so I usually drop down to hard to play online. I suck at vocals.. but you can't hear me. Don't do tandem video or competition. Point taken. Alot of tandem videos I have seen though the camera guys displays his altimeter after the tandem pair has opened. I think it adds an effect to the finished video. I see where you are coming from, and having two dytters to do the job you are giving them is a good idea. If you are only using one, I still wouldn't like it. But.... just facilitating what I think is a good topic here. Putting the questions out there because I would like to hear the answers. Tandem video guys... do you use your dytter to telll you you are closing in on tandem opening altitude? Or do you let the TI worry about his own opening altitude and you worry about yours after he opens. Competition guys.... does having two dytters replace the old days of looking at the other guys altimeters or just simply being time aware?
