  1. I believe Gananoque left CSPA because CSPA was not helping to solve the problem, not because someone was opposed to regulation. I'm not sure if I read what you wrote wrong, but it sounded like you were saying the DZO of Skydive Gan was for regulation and he left because someone pissed him off by objecting against regulation. I know for certain that he does not want government regulation. And that requiring a commercial operating certificate was not a good situation for business in Gan. Just clearing that up. As for the personal relationships being the problem... I can't say. I have heard (I haven't been around long) that back then CSPA was doing what was best for CSPA and certain dropzones, not what was best for skydiving in Canada in general. Seeing the voracity of opposition against this legislation, it seems things may have changed. I hope so. I apologize if I have overstepped my boundaries by speaking of how someone else may or may not have felt way back when, I just feel that things did not sound right there. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  2. We are on a big old military airfield and we deal wth turbulence, what does that have to do with it? The original video.... Weeeeeeeee! -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  3. What is this Gazette you speak of? I'm not extremely current on my Canadian politics, but I don't remember hearing about our processes change such that printing something in a "Gazette" twice makes a law. I'm not trying to be a dink and I am genuinely concerned with regards to the topic at hand, but I know a bit about how our Parliament works and I have never heard of the Gazette. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  4. Maybe the pilot should counter sue the jumper for reckless endangerment for hitting his plane and putting everyone else in danger. And they can settle out of court with a simple round of fuck you no fuck you no fuck YOU! -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  7. I don't play on PS's, but I may put a few bucks in for this. I thought Amercans couldn't put money in PS's??? -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  8. Do you need to hear them say it to know that this is exactly what happened. Seems like a no brainer. If not releasing details of the settlement was part of the settlement and settling was the best they could have done at the time... What you are asking them to do can get them into even more shit than they were accused of being in the first time. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  9. What are the odds? Two skydivers having a leap year baby. My son Rory (his mother is a skydiver too) was born on Jan. 29th at 9:24 am! 11. Yes, I realize that this is different in Alberta. I used to have to slow down to pass the damn thing on the Deerfoot Trail. Good thing in Alberta, well at least in Calgary, is that you know where they are. If they are moved, you hear about it on the radio. In Ontario, the fines did not stand up in court to this defence, which is part of the reason they got rid of it. Personally I have to agree with the innocent untill proven guilty thing. It's the backbone of civilized law and order. I'm surprised noone in BC or Alberta has been able to take it all the way. Where do they draw the line? You lent someone your car and they used it to rob a bank. Your car was photographed outside the bank. Well you own the car so you must do the 15-life. Sounds rediculous sure, but it is the EXACT same principle. Unless of course they make it illegal to own a car that is speeding. Speeding is illegal because it is under Highway Traffic Act, which applies to persons under the care and control of a motor vehicle and occupants of that vehicle. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  12. Precisely the reason photo radar does work in Ontario is because they don't have to prove you were driving, just that you own the car. In fact even if you can prove that I was driving it would still be your fine for the same way that if I get in an accident in your car it is your problem. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure they have not resurrected photo radar in Ontario. The reason it did not work before is as I mentioned as above. The government can not force you to pay a fine for something that someone else did. They cannot force you to pay for a fine simply because you own a car that was involved in speeding. In order for it to stand in a court of law, the legislation would have to change from what is was before. The reason your insurance is involved when someone else is driving your car is because you pay insurance for your car, not for yourself. Again, I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain there is no photo radar in Ontario. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  14. They should be shot untill dead with a ball of their own shit. And then someone should steal their phone number. I was disappointed and happy to find out that my dropzone is one of the only in Ontario not to take the gift certificates. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  15. hope HE's a PLF expert! I don't think I'd want to watch it happen, but I'll be happy to watch the video knowing beforehand he was successfull. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  16. I'm not saying that this would be impossible, but in traffic, with cars, in weather, vehicles of different size speed, made of different materials, with different engine sizes, people in different positions... it would be impossible to make the technology cheap enough to use for this purpose. Even it was implemented, I would feel more comfortable driving by myself in that lane knowing now that the cops are leaving the work to the cameras and you could destroy the reliability in a court of law. Precisely why photo radar doesn't work in Ontario. I would take it to court any day of the week. Prove that I was the one driving the car and I'll pay the fine. Can't do it, well I'm innocent untill proven guilty, and the only thing that you can prove is that I own the car, not that I was driving it. Simple argument. The only thing that kept it alive was the fact that most people wouldn't fight the tickets, they would just pay them. Edited to add: My avatar is a clearer picture than you would get from those cameras, and you'd have a hard time proving identity from that. That's why I use it as my avatar, no way could I do that! kidding: it is me, I can prove it! -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

    Online Poker

It wasn't online but I had the craziest hand the other night. I was sitting to the right of the button and it was folded around to the guy on my right. He raised 3x the BB. I know him to be a habitual stealer in late position when folded to him so I give him a cold call with Q8s to scare him enough so that I can bluff him off after the turn. Well don't I flop a flush? 96K of spades. So I bet pot sized with my Q high flush so that I can take him off any idea of playing the draw if he has the A or K of spades.. he pushes. I have to call with the Q high flush and I do. He's got the A. Shit, he's going to outdraw me I know it. Turn card comes 10 of spades. Fuck! He just hit the A high flush! He stands up whooting and hollering while the dealer quietly turns over the river. J of spades giving me the K high straight flush. NICE! Craziest hand I have ever seen layed out and the closest I have ever come to a Royal. I had 9,10,q,k,a spades at the casino playing Carribean Stud once and the next player had the J as the first card in his hand. One card missing me for $400K -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson
  18. Every malfunction.. check to see that they are there. Then use them. ;) Kidding aside, I do check them in freefall when doing solos. Not very often, but often enough I feel. I have checked them in all sorts of attitudes as well... I have put hands in to protect them while in freeflying positions and someone gets close to them. -------------------------------------------------- In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ~ Thomas Jefferson

  21. Talk to the good canopy pilots and instructors at your DZ, I'm sure you will get good info there. I wouldn't trust anything anyone tells you about canopy selection over the internet. Perhaps there is a PD rep or someone with connections at your dropzone that can get you a demo or two.
