  1. great canopy if you like brisk openings (good if you go low) good flare... but after 300 jumps on it I would pitch and grit my teeth because it was going to spank me. It gets tough as you get older.. 50's therefore went to the spectre, it's like falling into a cotton ball
  2. just after you exit look up at the plane and keep looking at it, it worked for me. it takes your mind off the unstable exit thingy and looking up gives you a good arch
  3. not that but I have dreams that while walking I will extend my arms to my side and extend my feet and start to leave the ground, it's strange because I really have to work hard to achieve some lift..
  4. try page 50 ( cypress ad) whats wrong with this picture, reserve handle covered by his sweatshirt... Jumpsuits serve us well for many reasons
  5. always, when I have cash in my pocket and it's hot out I always give the packers (pay it foward) $10 for a $7 pack job. It is a $100 day when i go to the DZ so for a few extra bucks to the packers, it's worth it to me, furthermore these kids work hard all day so an extra $10 bucks won't make or break me
  6. I went from the sabre to the spectre (stayed with the 170), I did about 350 jumps on the sabre, there are some different characterics between the two but the BIG one is the openings. The spectre is like falling into a ball of cotton. Do a couple of hundred jumps on your 170 (sabre or spectre) before the 150, you will be suprised on how much you don't know on the 170. Take your time, you have a life of skydiving ahead of you............and just remember one important thing...... it's not how many jumps you have...BUT how many you have left......keep asking questions...stay on top of your game..don't assume
  7. I am sure you have been told to just relax.... as a new jumper...... you have to respond, "are you freaking kidding me" I just threw my sorry ass out of an airplane" and you want me to relax.....You would think that is not possible, look around for other sykdivers, the plane you just left, the LZ... these things will take your mind off the WTF mode into the think mode. I am sure that someone will flame me for this even if it makes sense
  8. this post went to way side, but yes we have that slide the fingers, bump the fists thingy just before jump run, we all share a common thread, I happen to like it.
  9. Hi kevin, welcome to our world of being happy and broke, you only have 1 shot at this life so enjoy
  10. I put about 200 jumps on my sabre 170 loaded at 1:1, the last 40 jumps were kicking my ass so bad that I got rid of it. Not sure if trim, lines would have something to do with it, packed it the same way the whole time.. who knows... went to a spectre.. its like falling into a ball of cotton. Hey the sabre flew great and I will miss the crisp turns and recovery, but at 54 I am not enjoying the "crisp"openings. Still an over all good canopy
  11. did a jump with Shalon almond in illinois, we get out and he was chasing me (not part of the jump) and when he got close to me he was laughing, he then reached to the top of me helmut and snapped my goggles on my face. I was wondering why my eyes were stinging. Funny to talk about but serious to think that it's not life threatening but it was something that I forgot and that is unacceptable. Great lesson for me
  12. you could take the train east to riverhead and then a cab to calverton to Sky dive long island, or call the DZ and someone will come and pick you up
  13. great concept, but I will stick with landing off because stupid ppl will f%^k this up by misjudging their base and final
  14. great video, how did the last team before the go around make it back
  15. me thinks you need to stay at a min of a 1:1 and do a bunch of straight in landings. Not many ppl are going to answer your question. When I see swooping high speed landings I say "some day..not today"
  16. base your decision on a max of 1:1
  17. Good question.. maybe because some DZ's don't do night jumps. My Dz did them last year but I couldnt make it, now I have to wait 78 jumps for the D, Night jumps ( havent done one yet) scare me and excite me on the same note... not sure if that make sense... this year I will do it!!
  18. I am there for a few years and never got bumped because of a tandem & never saw you get bumped either. Hey my hat is off to you to start a business and I wish you luck but stop the trash talk about one of the best DZ on the east coast
  19. how much did nykid pay you to write that
