  1. the reason for bagging the hand switch is that I'm finding filming tandems on my back, I use my hands a LOT. I only found this out from going with tandems and NOT taking pics. Then, after about 30 jumps without the camera, it's sorta screwing me up. Make any sense? It does for me. my pics & stuff!
  2. I don't see the need to spend the money on something I know I can make. I just want some ideas of what other folks are using. my pics & stuff!
  3. Ok, after 5 years of using a hand switch, I'm switching to a tongue switch, and would love to see some pics of some switches that others have made, and have had success with. my pics & stuff!
  4. Ok Mr Jackson, after you spend your weekend at SDO, be sure to post your thoughts on the DZ and how you were treated. my pics & stuff!
  5. when I was allowed to hook turn the tandems in, my percentage was well over 95% stand up, regardless of wind. That was also on 300's and 330's. On the SET's, and not being allowed to do that, I do the surge most of the time, and the stand up percentage SUCKS big time. Depending on the wind of course.... my pics & stuff!
  6. and if you have tits my pics & stuff!
  7. depending on the plane, I've found doing a hard intentional back flip is almost flawless. The student isn't gonna know a damn thing, much less remember any of it. I just step out and around to my left, and thrust a back flip. It's scarry how friggin easy and stable it is even when the student has hideous(?) body position....but to each is own. What ever works for you. my pics & stuff!
  8. cool. I was starting to think I was/am a puss. It's been 5 days, and it's just starting to feel better....sorta. I can't believe the color on my balls, looks pretty bad. my pics & stuff!
  9. Just curious as to who has dealt with this issue. How long after the snippings was it until you jumped, and did you have any issues. my pics & stuff!
  10. very nice addition. Thanx, that's sweet vid. YIKES!!!! my pics & stuff!
  11. I do pretty much the same, but with a few tricks that have worked for me. I aim at the tire (otter), and try my hardest to drop straight down (don't push out), with just the right amount of lead time so I don't end up on the tail's back. If you are touch early, then you need to track back up at the group, off to the side and slide around, then park. Eveyone has their own tricks and techniques, these are just what's worked best for me. Another is to know what they are gonna launch. Some of the longer exits make is a LOT harder to lead the exit, especialy if the tail is kick ass, and gets lower than you first....you follow? You are gonna take out a few groups, so be prepared to say "sorry"....he he he. my pics & stuff!
  12. what do you guys think about this design? I think Jump shack switched to the "no brass" bag after this one...am I correct? This had a little flap that was supposed to go over the line stows, but it never wanted to stay in place. Plus, the 2 locking stows went through the brass grommets. my pics & stuff!
  13. Rob, the incident with Ernie Butler (I'm sure you know who I'm talking about....from snohomish). What was the deal with his. He had a Javelin with softies. I was told that the cutaway cable actually pulled through, and he couldn't release the main. Is this correct, or was it something else? my pics & stuff!
  14. I've done the same. It gives a different perspective, making what's in the background appear bigger. These were takin with an 80mm. my pics & stuff!
  15. I don't think it's any problem other than it looking like shit. I've seen quite a few rigs where folks thought this would look better than before. But, on the other hand, it could be a stolen rig, and the colored flap is done to try and hide the looks......you follow? my pics & stuff!
  16. don't sweat it, it's actually not all that uncommon. I had 2 sleepers in one week, one guy, and one girl. But I am curious how you do on the second one. We had a customer here last week. He had done a tandem a year earlier, and had slept on that one. Sure enough, he slept on this one too. my pics & stuff!
  17. Ok, BOC is "bottom of the container" meaning where the pilot chute is stashed. Throw out is "throwing out" the pilot into the airstream. Collapsable slider is done while under canopy. Collapsable pilot chute is done while packing.(you'll learn these as you learn to pack) And you want a rig? Well.....after my divorce, I'm willing to try anything.....he he he he my pics & stuff!
  18. I would say you got it. Keep from landing in salt water, and you'll be fine. my pics & stuff!
  19. Yes, but I couldn't tell you what camera's they were. I've seen 2 different ones, and both of them, they had to open up the camera and solder in a switch so that they could do it remotely. Gravitygirl's husband has one. Try finding her somewhere on here, she post's all the time. my pics & stuff!
  20. he he, I did the same but on the leg strap friction adapter. The hand holding the friction adapter slipped off, and hit her right in the mother nature. I felt bad, and apoligized profusely. She laughed. I think tighter is better...to a certain point. I'll tighten the upper part of the harness while we are hooked up and seated. But remember, it's really what works for YOU. Just becuase jo blow says do it this way, it's the best doesn't mean it works good for you. my pics & stuff!
  21. I guarantee that you will see more knots routed in this fashion, or similiar. It's an easy way to take a little slack out of the closing loop, rather than untie the seated knot, and then move it just a little. I do it a lot, and was shown by several riggers how to do it....and have open a lot of rigs that were done like this. I'm not talking about the knot itself, just that the not is going under the looped end in your second picture...you follow? my pics & stuff!
  22. Here, depending on the winds, we are usually a few miles out to sea in getting out. As for emergency procedures? Hmmm, don't get wet I guess. I do double back my chest strap so that it comes right off if I need to get out quickly. We had an aussie work here that did have a water landing with a tandem. He tried landing in some guys aluminum boat, but the only guy in the boat wouldn't have anything to do with it. They splashed right next to it, and the guy in the boat pulled them both in. my pics & stuff!
  23. Anyone know where I can download a PDF of the 10D manuel? I'm manuel-less, and this would be nice. my pics & stuff!
  24. sorry rob, I was mistaken, we DON'T have the 109. I guess it's the 105. I don't use that camera so my guess uneducated. my pics & stuff!
  25. this may help. It's an australian parachute federation site, and you can find a bunch of service bulletins on it. xxhttp://www.apf.asn.au/apf_services/sb.aspxx my pics & stuff!
