  1. What experience do you have with other skydiving full face helmets ? List the "mile long list of crap they need to fix on the G3". Please. What do YOU look for in a helmet ? Do you realize that no product out there is 100% perfect per everyone's expectations ? Are a you by chance a millennial ? Whoa there sweetie, rhetoric and common sense as well as years of experience and knowledge such as yo have just orated will most likely get yo banned from this blog :) When I first started, as well as Al King, Lew Sandborn, Dan pointer, Ted,... and a few others,...We all started with Bell's on our noggins. Then some idot came up with this leather condom which became very popular for a bit. then the Protecks then the "bonheads." then the G3. Kind of like that chart of evolution from when we all started out as fish or chimps. As you can see more than a few here who I strongly suspect have never used a plethora of various gear have invested themselves in what they think best. From that evolution chart, they would be the examples to the left. Some of us like Mike G. when they had that store in DeLand would recommend trying on various helmets, till yo found what yo liked best or what worked best. Of course that store had 100 helmets on the wall. NOT everyone who lives in the woods or under a rock has that availability of gear to choose from. And I suspect that is part of the issue. Of course there is no excuse for pretending and giving gear reviews for gear that anyone has never owned or used. I too as well as just about every other 4 way World Team would love to hear about this "mile long" list of issues??? I suspect it's more like,...about,... 3" long. 2. Like myself and others have said, most skydivers don't care. Or using a site such as this one, as a perfect example, perhaps the "membershit" numbers are "slightly" exaggerated???? Or perhaps many Tandem passengers are still being "requested" to join the USPA for their one ride? Do a little math and like Fox Mulder you too can see what others chose NOT to see. 3. Been using the Hypoxic Led for years now. Right in front of my eyeball, really grabs your attention esp. when your busting your target altitude. Simple, reliable and brainless. There is such a thing as TMI, same reasoning as in raising altitude anytime you do anything new or different. On the other hand under canopy, the garmin gps's they gave us for calculating slope and distance to target really are the balls as well. Nothing like popin out of cover right over the target to realize those things are great,...but not for all occasions. I really can't recommend having the likes of a pinball machine in your face during free-fall. Again, TMI. Too big of a distraction. The single red led blinding you at 2200 is just fine to jog anyone's memory.
  4. Always handy to have a link to the free stuff: https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/advisory_circulars/index.cfm/go/document.information/documentID/22910 since this has, like it or not, become the standard text https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/ Your welcome. 5. Ditto THIS!!! So spot on. So many times these goggles get stretched out and shouldn't be used. But there they are in a big pile. Put a number on the number of times these elastic straps can be reliably used. I put it at about 10 times, seriously, after that they just don't seem to work reliably anymore. And I throw them away after one year, even if they look good to the naked eye. No wonder since tha 90s' when the first bonehead with the psyco paint job came on the scene, that flip visors rule. That's the cure, full face, for the times you can use a full face that is. Otherwise, trying to squeak just one more use out of those cheep goggles elastics,... just isn't worth it. If ya gonna send it then SPEND it. Or find better elastic straps, cause what's out there for years just is crap. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. 6. 99% of yo have never owned a Racer. Bar none, it's the most comfortable rig going. I got my first one back in the 90s' then I got the "card" in the mail. Who knows what I'm speaking about now? That issue aside , John knows what he is doing. Still the most comfortable harness going. As far as the continual speculation,...you guys just keep speculating,...it's what yo do best. Leave jumpin to those that actually jump. And for those that also know; one of the best as far as customer service, but then again yo would have had to have been around the block more than a few times to understand. 7. I love that picture. Fodder for all the naysayers and disbelievers that falling out can't happen. Perhaps a picture will wake some of you up! Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. 8. The adoption of a "universal" plumbing code has created issues with many DIY sites and people pretending to be plumbers, as well as issues with many ignorant plumbers as well. If you don't understand why sealing the base of fixtures and the issues this creates, perhaps you should leave plumbing to those with licenses. Most of the issue comes from the definition of what is and isn't considered a joint, as in a pipe joint. Also since none of yo all can indicate the sanitary reasons and practical reasons as well as the FACT that no one has really mentioned why it is impotant to protect the trap seal. Well the only controversy is really laypeople discussing issues they don't fully understand in the first place, which is why most states require licensing in the first place. Despite the appearance that construction can be done by anyone. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. 9. Fake websites and fake locations???????????? Perhaps the issue is Drop zones that operate under the guise of sport drop zones, you know the kinds of places that any jumper could jump at but can't because they only do tandems??? BOTTOM LINE, IF YOU DON'T LET OTHERS JUMP AT YOUR DZ THEN YOUR OPERATION SHOULD NOT GET THE USPA STAMP OF APPROVIAL. JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW THE USPA HAS SOLD THE MEMBERSHIP DOWN THE RIVER. Seriously, the USPA sanctions these kinds of places. When in the real world this type of sanctioning hurts the very essence of skydiving. If you run a tandem only kind of place and don't let fun jumpers jump,...then your not eligible for USPA membership, PERIOD. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. 10. That's cause our posts keep getting "modified." You really wanta know why this kid died? It's because no one gives a shite about the last solo / newbie on a load. Everyone else was just too fuckin busy to notice, same as at every DZ full of skygods out there. Simple. Well, YOUR posts get deleted because they are inappropriate. Or just wrong. This jumper was dead on impact. The exact reason isn't clear yet (or hasn't been made public). The only thing a check in procedure would have changed is when the body was recovered. CHECKING IN OVER THE YEARS HAS SAVED LIVES. THIS ISN'T A DEBATABLE POINT. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. 11. Have you ever even seen a real IRM? “Many pages outlining reserve side duties”?.. People like you are why this site has become so worthless over the years. Sections 3-1 up to 3.2 H Cover the responsibilities of the "INSTRUCTORS" PLURAL SECTON 4 again plural The largest section of the AFF in the IRM pertains to "INSRUCTORS." Anyone is free to see that in the IRM, the most written pages are devoted to 2 AFFis'. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. 14. Getting in front of the big spinny whirlygigs of death is always a dumb thing to do. I am going to steal that line!!! :) That is so awesome!!!!! Ironic in a way that over the last 3 or 4 years it was women that have been mauled by those "big spinny whirlygigs of death" !!! Def gonna paint that line on an aircraft!!!! So much better than: "Prop Blast." Or " Danger Zone." Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. 15. Wow, raises the issue that a donated organ can be re-used again and again? Imagine the movie headlines,..."The Organ that Wouldn't Die." How about an "Organ Bank." Where you could deposit portions of your liver or lungs as a child and then like interest they would grow over time to adult size for when or if they might be needed? 16. After the main deploys there is more slack in the harness. On crw jumper almost fell out of his racer harness during a wrap. Some freestyle positons, such as a pike, can allow a person to slip out the back of a standard harness without too much effort. My first rig had a saddle strap between the 2 leg straps. That was fairly secure, but not very comfortable. I'm afraid style and comfort win out over safety everytime. Thanks for saying what you have pointed out. As some others have noticed this is an issue that is still with us. Apparently some people refuse to learn. This is the point: "I'm afraid style and comfort win out over safety every time. " Considering recent events and the faulty attributions and wild ass guesses that so many seem to accept as some kind of fact,... Slipping out of harnesses has been with us for quite some time. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. AND as in the movie: "12 Angry Men," of an ignorant and callous jury.
  17. "No harness used in climbing is specifically intended for you to bail out out of as quick as possible any more than parachuting harnesses are. I dont know where you pulled that BS from. " Water landings? You know stuff like that. I'm also going to point out that climbing harnesses like the Vario specifically do NOT use quick buckles. For a number of reasons. And I'm also going to point out that products from Black Diamond are not the chheeeep stuff. Do you have any climbing experience at all? I will agree with ya about identifying and repairing sloppy harnesses, about the cost that is. But as your going to find out about your comment about raising the price of equipment to increase safety, many people will argue your comment. In fact used gear, and or gear that isn't serviceable anymore is a very hotly debated topic. Unfortunately there is a big percentage over the years of worn gear causing incidents which eventually contribute to fatalities. The chain of events theory. good points though Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. AND as in the movie: "12 Angry Men," of an ignorant and callous jury.
  18. Because in climbing they actually take the "hard lessons," and make changes. Really good points IMO! And of course the masses will shortly chime in about needing to rapidly get rid of your harness if you have some kind of emergency. They have a point. But in making their point they fail to keep perspective about the other issues too loose nylon has caused many times in the past. and after all not everyone can afford new gear or to send harness back to the manufacturer to say what the F is this???? Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. AND as in the movie: "12 Angry Men," of an ignorant and callous jury.
  19. Slipping straps are one of those issues that continue to surface. You are not alone. One of the ways to combat this issue was with the introduction of "bail"s on the leg strap hardware. Of course the inconvenience and rampant speculation , there not so popular , but they are available. bigger point is the fact that this issue goes unaddressed and continues. take a look at hardware from yesteryear, to see how this was handled. Take a look at modern hardware. IMO as a industry, the sport has gone backwards in the name of convenience. Just another risk to be managed. ???? ????? Like I said, the bail type hardware is available for those that have these concerns. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. AND as in the movie: "12 Angry Men," of an ignorant and callous jury.
  20. The anodized hardware is still available at UPT, give Mark K. , or Mark Procos a call if your interested. The CWH 16762 leg hardware I believe is still available. Not many people know about these. Not a big seller because they involve a little more work to adjust. But like I said, they are already attributed with saving a life. The black hardware will rub off over time, but still it is a great finish and look if your into that kind of thing. For orders/ information about production I suppose you could just ask for Tara, not sure if she is still there though. You will have to go thru a local dealer when you decide. Your always welcome to take a factory tour if ever you find yourself in DeLand, easy to get to you can take the bus from Daytona for a few bucks. IMO Vector still leads the pack, all in all. Someone asked in another post about the hardware manufacturers for skydiving equipment. Most all of them started out manufacturing for Sail and marine applications years ago. Then came Capewell and a few others. Still IMO CWH and the rest of the French make the best hardware, IMO. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. AND as in the movie: "12 Angry Men," of an ignorant and callous jury.
  21. Are yo speaking about UPT's stock fabric or these: http://www.camorigs.com/category/skydiving-containers.html these can be special ordered,.... give Mark at UPT a call if your serious. .I would also recommend the "black" hardware and the "bail" type springs on the leg hardware. The bail type hardware is all ready attributed with saving a life, something to consider, IMO. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. AND as in the movie: "12 Angry Men," of an ignorant and callous jury.
  22. It's a great idea. But already in place and for many years now, the medical community can not even suggest or I suspect even speak about this subject because of the numerous laws already in place. The Genevivive Bujold Coma movie aside. The conflict of interest this caused was intense when this subject came up big time in the 70s' and 80s'. Now if yo want to speak to the Russians and Indians,...you might get somewhere with that???? Hope everything works out ok with the surgery. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. 23. The Anti-Christ remembers yo, bubba. Trouble is the Anti-Christ is busy fighting crime and corruption and Gotham City isn't safe to show up in anymore,... Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. 24. That's a more than fc&kN good point about the after effects of some of these sweetheart deals my Muff Man!!!! Ten years later did the community get what was promised. On one hand who benefited ? Not everyone has the memory and good heart yo do. Which I suppose is the issue. After the election, promise, deal, whatever, does the public care anymore? Or perhaps better said does the public even remember? I try to make a case that in this day and age the public is so apathetic,...that the public literarily has no memories. Perhaps that's the issue, not so much one company or another exploiting the corruption of the day,.... such a good observation Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide. He is the victim of ignorance and faulty gear. AND as in the movie: "12 Angry Men," of an ignorant and callous jury.
  25. Feel free to describe the pain and suffering Black parents are going to feel over losing their kid in any terms you wish to enumerate upon. But mobs and grieving people are not known for making sane or rational decisions or comments during times like this. It was not, nor is it a "racist" comment. Brett Bickford Did Not Commit Suicide.
