Cindy Gibson DZO of Texas Skydiving in the little town of Lexington, Texas looks forward to everyone being able to show up and have a great time this weekend. this would be a rare, but not an impossible gear failure. i've actually thought about it, my plan is to grab the exposed cable by the grommet that runs through the metal reserve deployment handle leading to the reserve pin and pull it to release the pinned in spring loaded pilot chute on the reserve. i don't think anyone would have enough time to reach behind their back, open the reserve flap and effectively pull the reserve pin. that said, i wouldn't know for sure what i'd do, until the time comes, but at least i have a plan for a very unusaul situation. the only other remedy would be to utilize an RSL...or NOT! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

i don't use drugs, or even drink. my thoughts on the matter have been well documented in these forums in the past. if anyone wants to utilize illegal substances before, during or after skydiving operations, then they should be perfectly comfortable consenting to an airline pilot flying while impaired, or a surgeon performing surgey on them while UTI. whether quited or not, skydivers do not have the right, or authority to "knowingly and intentionally" skydive impaired given that their state of mind "may, and can" lead to the injury or death/dissmemberment of another skydiver, or themselves as this would show a blatant dissregard for themselves and others. let's face it, it's ignorant...really ignorant. skydiving is dangerous enough, adding illegal substances to the equation only raises the odds of an incident, and drugs are illegal. by the way, i am not donning nomex for my views on this topic, so fire away, at least i'm straight. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

when i trained at SDSL i weighed in at 225#, hook was my divemaster. since then my weight has balloned to 270#, but with a lot of work i am now down to 240#. that said, should i be glad i had my license already? that didn't stop me from jumping my 170^2 parachutes. although having the experience of a number of jumps behind me, i didn't really notice any difference under canopy until i chose a certain brand. but for the record that was when i was 245#, like i said i'm 240# now. i can't see why this particular jumper wanna be shouldn't be able to jump a J-7 with a 280+ in it AFF style, that is if he's willing to risk it, i'd take him up in a minute, because i know he couldn't get away from me! i utilzed one until my first cut-away. i don't have one now, and i can't see as i'll have any use for one in the future. i know what i'm going to do if my main deployment goes to hell. i do urge newer skydivers who have never had a main cutaway and a reserve deployment and pulled both handles to utilize one until this time. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

i voted education without regulation. once we let someone regulate our sport, or any facet of it, it will be overrun by regulation. i believe that wingloading is not the problem, education is. any time you clear an aff student in under 20 jumps, etc...that's not good at any wing load. if we regulate wingloading, will we be submitting to RUA next? not that i would care, but it's the "opening the door" to safety nazis i'm concerned about. 500+ jumps, 1 cut-away/reserve ride. flying a HeatWave 170^2 @ 1.55 wing, not a scratch...yet, i know i'm not infallible and i've lived long enough to realize my mortality! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

Paula: your right, she doesn't own any rights to the photos, she signed those rights away to the original photographer. the photographer in turn, then sells the photos to a buisness man and he wrote Amber Frey's attorney a letter proposing a deal, either Amber Frey could repose for hustler magazine, with him having all rights and privilidges, or he would publicize the remaining photographs he had of her now. this is really TOO friggin' much! poor little Amber Frey done went and got herself all tangled up in a murder mystery. it's sad when CNN has Larry Flynt on the air speaking of the "Deal" he isn't excited about buying the photos, (he stated she was a "2 bagger") he wants the guy who owns the photos to get Gloria Allred, Amber Frey's attorney to agree to pose for a new layout in a men's magazine, or he'll publicize the photos himself. if i'm Gloria Allred i'm telling this guy to fug off! what an asshole!
