  1. Marriage is about comprimise. If she is going to forbid you to do something that is relatively safe because of HER fears, she is not comprimising. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  2. I would have to disagree. Alot of what a coach would teach a sit-flyer in terms of 90's all around is taught because its been proven to allow for the most range in maneuverability. I agree it is FREE flying, but in all honesty, so is belly flying and there are good ways and bad ways to do that too. While it may be FREE flying, there are ways that people have learned to do things that are plain and simple better than other ways. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  3. Honestly - if I had a mal and knew I had a RSL or Skyhook, I probably wouldn't pull the reserve in most situations. I'd give my self a second or two and see what is going on above me first. This wouldn't pertain to something really low though. Edit - I'd still have my finger inside of the reserve loop jic though... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  4. A fukken men. Used to be this sport fostered good hearted people willing to help one another out - don't lose track of that. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  6. LASIK fixed your night vision? I have terrible night vision and all of the doctors I've talked with say LASIK has no effect on it whatsoever as lack of night vision is caused by lack of cones/rods (one or the other don't remember offhand)... Did you have really bad night vision? -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  7. Download the trial version here: http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp#product=98 I think its pretty dang easy to use imho... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  8. Gear freezing up - no. We used to jump in Wisconsin at 20 degrees BELOW 0 at times with no problems other than figuring out the best way to cover up ALL exposed skin! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  9. I don't do tandems and students. If I did, I wouldn't give that stuff away for free. I share with my friends and nothing more while I'm honing my skills. No thanks on charging them. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  10. I give away free video all the time to the people I jump with. Usually they are kind enough to provide VHS tape or even the occasional jump ticket. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  11. Maybe he should consult a lawyer and try to recoup if indeed he doesn't do drugs. His piss test should've come back negative... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  12. Utah + Drugs + State Patrol = not good - don't know about nevada tho ;-) -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  13. IMHO - its another level of detail to pay attention to. Something else to be "worried" about which can easily detract from the most important aspect of jumping out of planes - safety. If you are all worried about your camera - i.e. is it on, where am I pointing it in freefall, etc - you could EASILY forget about the other things that can go wrong. Also, again IMHO, I've seen more and more people strapping on cameras earlier and earlier in their jump numbers and most of them don't even understand basic framing technique. What is the point of having a camera on if you can't fly without thinking about it and frame without thinking about it. My two cents... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  14. "I guess it's in the same vein as RSL/AAD etc." Not really - I think it just feels nicer NOT to have a helmet on - I know I used to jump wo a helmet alot for that factor. Its not very comparable to RSLs and AADs cuz I couldn't tell yah the difference in feel of a rig with em or without em... I usually wear a helmet all the time now because I see more and more dangerous things happening in the air every year... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  15. No. I'd be happy I landed safely and that I had another day to jump. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  16. No doubt - have fun staying sharp. I've seen sharp femurs before as well sticking THRU the skin. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  17. I can't wait to see Moab and its surroundings from the comfort of your Cessna... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

    Accident Report

Sorry - let me be CLEAR as ICE. There is a backup chute on a skydiving rig. The reason there isn't a backup chute on a base rig should be obvious, but the reason there isn't one on a base rig doesn't equate to why there can or cannot be a backup system on a rappel. That was my point. Does that make sense now? Your post adds nothing to the knowledge base here. I'm just trying to learn more about long rappels, not argue about freakin symantecs. Edited - sorry for being an ass, I'm just trying to learn from the situation is all. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  20. While I fully understand where you are coming from - and agree with you that there are head strong DZOs out there - this type of attitude will be the demise of our sport. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  21. Colorado cold? HAH! Go to the midwest in January. We don't get no 60 degree days in central Wis in January. Oh so spoiled we are in Denver... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  22. Make a report showing your beliefs and prove them. Use Kallend's piece of software and Burke's essay as proof - treat this as any other research expedition. The way our sport is progressing, the problems are only going to get worse before people start realizing the importance of seperation and exit order. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  23. But don't glider pilots also have positive lift at their disposal? I would think given all factors being equal - two canopy drivers under identical canopies at different weights - wont the heavier of the two simply descend faster? Just curious... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  24. You can still get onto a Windoze network with a Mac just to let you know... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

    Accident Report

Gotcha - I thought perhaps there was another safer methodology to follow on long rappels. Thanks. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
