  1. just watched it and man intense isnt the word to describe this. As close as you guys are flying to the clifss is unreal. Before my accident in 2005 i had numerous wing suit jumps and 7 base jumps and we were planing on going there to wing suit but the accident took that away. All I can say is be careful and boy what a rush you gave me watchin you thanks for sharing the exp with the world
  2. Well with all the poverty in the tribe going on i'm sure if they can get that out far enough and open it to yr round base jumps alot of ppl would pay so much to use the structure especially if you could do a 3500' free fall who wouldnt want to pay per jump for that hell if it costs 20$ per skydive on average i know plenty of base jumpers who'd gladly pay for that, just my 2 cents
  3. Hey Jimmy I cant jump any more due to smashning my pevis and sacrum but when I was watchin you guys go thru the span struts It made my hear skip a beat waht a rush. The bungee base was awesome keep up the good work brother and flick one for those of us to criple to doit any more. God bless stya safe Dave phillips
  4. Congrats Jeb I'm disabled and wont be able to do any more base jumps . I did 7 prior to my swooping mishap and even opened a free standing 430' the night befors my accident. My ? is since the charges were dismissed then discovery should give back your job in my experience since what the judge is saying is you didnt commit the crime then you shouldn't be continued with the punishment of loosing that sweet job you had.Hell I think NYC should be liable in getting you fired for over reacting and making this a media specticle. Sounds like the same kinda of prosecutorial errors like mike nifong in the duke case. You rock dude so please flick one for me. May god always fill your cells brother stay safe respectfully yours dave phillips
  5. why not get a big student rig you can rent at most drop zones and just free pack your bj if need be any experienced base jumpers in your area can help to show u how to free pack it this is what i did when i got a new chute
  6. glad you will heal. Hind sight is always good if one can learn from it. I was always told no wing suits off this bridge due to lack of altitude i heard this from ppl i respect who heard it from yuri and his experience with wing suits and how long it actually takes to gain flight. I watched the video and I'm just damn glad you lived and maybe you can jump again you said it your self best time to review your actions

    Best RIG??

Add HUCK IT made by tree jumps is one of the best double pin rigs around just my 2 cents
  8. Man what a rush although i no longer jump my heart races like im there when i watch thaks for the rush.
  9. just my 2 cents i only had 7 base jumps before i stupidly swooped my pelvis into the ground. Im now a cripple for life if i was ever to jump again give me base it was always better than skydiving any day and its all i would do if i could still jump. Now that wasnt the ? was it when i got a used fox 285 from the factory i jumped it alot one day just to get canopy skills and look i never got hurt bas jumping so is skydiving your canopy good experience yes and heres something else you can think about the nite before my fatefull accident on my 7th base jump i opened a 430' free stander and my mentor said that was the ballsest thing he had ever seen with someone with my limited base experience but hey i didnt know what i was doing and i didnt get hurt i though i new how to swoop and im a criple now so do the math lol your friend and admirer dave and by the way i miss you tree i know you see this i hope you and the family is fine we miss you here on the east coast

    help

I dont have many base jumps but i think the best proved rigs are velcro and then double pin rigs. a rig should expel the shoot in a heads up deployment or heads down deployment. hopefully your belly to earth which is proper deployment every time. Just a thought a closing loop with the pin works for skydiving rigs and base rigs just fine i hope no one in trying to improve on a perfect system that the i described above doesnt die trying to get something unique jsut my expeience when people are unique they get hurt and die.Just a thought
  11. well here goes i only did 7 base jumps last year but on my last sky dive 08/01/06 impacted ground while swooping and broke pelvis in half broke sacrum with a 5" break and 8" break, also broke both feet , and punctured fphemeral artery at which point i bled from the artery for 2hrs before bleeding was stoped. imagine that all cause of hooking it to low one note night before me and my mentor opened up a 437' free stander i was off first held for 2 sec using a 48" pc hand held was very nice although i didnt care for my lines being out of the metal loops. was really wierd trying to flare lol dont miss skydiving but do miss base probably always willQuote
  12. Does anyone have any info on the Es in Ny state please PM me
  13. Planning trip to Norway to jump big walls need any info on where to stay what currency rates are when best time of year to jump need any help to plan this all beta appreciated
  14. I don't have an opinion either way but my question is why craig kuske isn't on the list he was a base jumper who died skydiving last year at xkeys. They say he deployed his reserve at 50 feet
  15. thanx for the reply don sounds like your truly nuts don't think I'll be jumping with you though. PS your right about the S Howd you know?
  16. I need to clear up a few of my the terms I used when I first posted the other night. This jump was a bandit jump, it was from 900' so it was decided to not be visible under canopy from 700'. It was a 2 way I pitched at 4 sec mentor pitched at 5.We didn't due crew we were just in close proximity to each other when we landed. Sorry if I caused any misunderstanding by my using wrong terminology. I sometimes due that even when skydiving. Now as far as my canopy skills 2 years ago took Rob Laidlaws course started being able to hit the Ps at xkeys pretty much every time and I've had too numerous to lists coach tips from the best canopy pilot at that drop zone. So I may not do 720 hook turns I have been known to swoop in at shut down dead center of the Ps at my home DZ. Remember this you all started this knowing less than I do and I'm not saying this with any disrespect but this is 2005 alot has changed on what is safe now and what was safe 10 years ago. And as far as caning my mentor don't think so he's a good skydiver with 2000+ jumps and he knows he dosen't know it all and he's willing to learn as am I. So if this post does offend anyone thats your bag not mine. Mind you there are alot of basers in my area and I dont just rely just one I rely on all that I can to stay safe and not be a statistic Maybe it wasn't safe what was done but only time will tell Mind you most wuffos think even going out of a plane at 13500 is stupid and they will never know the freedom we take for granted every time we jump. And one last partin experience I will share with you is 3 years ago I landed in a tree after getting down and feeling like an idiot one of the local jumping gods really gave me a hard time about it and made me feel like shit. I was new and took it as it came from god. Looking degected sitting on the bench this older guy came up and asked what happened and I told him what that other guy said. After going over my jump with me we discussed ways to avoid it in the future, never have done another tree landing, and his parting comment to me was the next time someone gives me a wrath of shit for a mistake I've made simply reply "what you've never made a mistake " and he left. That guy I found out now has some where in the vincinity of 20000 jumps so thats that.
  17. Ok night before jump we were at ymca for 3 hours of practice exits into 8' pool 1/2 stowed 1/2 hand held. critique every exit with mentor holding with count then pitching from hand held and stowed. head up and slightly forward exits. When jump happened muscle memory was perfect. mind you my last 230 jumps are all sit fly with some of the best in my humble opinion free flyers in the world. so going stowed although not the norm could have been done but out of fear I couldn't do it. Doing a 2 way took a big edge off and made it easier to go with my mentor doin the count. Mind you there was never any pressure to jump only it was getting late and this was a sunset jump. I didn't want to do it at night being my first so for me being introduced into this the greatest sport ever my hat is off to my instructors for teaching me so well. In air was no fear only fear was the exit and that was more intense than even my first tandem or even going without jumping for 4 months winter of 2003 so I thank all who came before and made this possible for me. You've given me a gift the only way I'll ever be able to pay you trailblazers for is to be safe not to extreme follow directions but most of all go through every fear knowing that gods kids are meant to fly thats why we jump .
  18. Did first jump last night. 2 way with hand held 4 sec delay. Awesome. Off heading opening 90deg to left countered with rear riser to correct. Nice crew two way landing . Now talk about fear at the exit point . More than life and death words cant describe the wall I went through. Was going to go stowed but on the edge opted for going hand held It was commented and I quote " best first base exit that was seen by my mentor, not head low at all. Solid 4 sec delay. No ground crew could be gathered cause everybody was wufos to busy to help. I do know this I went into a zone when the count reached 1 that skydivings never gave me. And to wrap this thread up the bridge became my bitch
  19. I was just shown this either way of exits face toward the prop or face toward the tail exit already in the sit position with feet in the relative wind. No wasted time on the hill it is amazing when I was shown this exit it all came together how much easier it was to stay together in a 2 way down the hill when you leave in this position. Also I was given the dirt dive for sit flying. Practice with your back against the wall in the sit position. do it once a day. You will notice that there will be the burning sensation in the tops of the thighs. to practice forward movement at the end of the minute push up with your legs and push your hips forward. after a few weeks of this you should as I did notice a vast improvement in not only your stable sit but the hardest movement I'm told in sit flying, forward movement. Kudos to who ever that gave me that dirt dive on this website cause I'm having awesome time now with forward movement. Starting to dock on people what an awesome thing
  20. Need help with forward movement. Any help or tips for donig on the ground to help get more forward movement in the air would be apreciated.
  21. 140 to 160 mph is gonna cause some hard openings also check to make sure your equipment can sustain higher opening speed I weigh 205 out the door and I had one of the hardest openings after not slowing down enough coming out of a stand protrak said 160 max speed I'll never did that again scared the hell out of me I took some tracking lesons also and had an average speed of 109 its amazing how you can slow your fall rate
  22. I would never recommend psycho packs to anyone I was a big supporter of it cause I could get a brand new zero p canopy in the bag very easy. Could pack it that way in under ten minutes. That all changed with severe line twists and the canopy doing a bad right handed dive was not recoverable so I chopped. I learned how to do a good pro pack. I take the d-bag and put it under the canopy before the s folds then squeeze the air out one more time then put right knee on canopy start first s fold put right knee on that then squeeze all final air out through the last s fold then canopy goes in the bag left or right corner with out to much difficulty. The bag under the canopy I saw from someone who's done this alot longer than most. Asked my coach and was given the ok works real well. It is frowned on to do psycho packs at my home dz and I agree 100%
  23. either x-keys in NJ or chambersburg pa
  24. I'll tell you these posts have bought up alot of memories from hurt pride and mistakes I've made.I remeber wanting to down size before I had even 30 jumps That changed when I chowed on poop hill in Chambersburg. Broke my cossics Hurt like hell couldn't get my A license that weekend But I learned. Next I was doing my first free fly coaching with Monkey Claw. We spent the morning going over important equipment, Cypress Audible, handles and what was wrong with the rig I have for sit flying. I log it all to memory and went about doing the coach jumps. On my third jump I was in a spin and I lost altitude awareness till 2200 feet said oh shit threw my hackey and landed ok. Still got that on tape still gives me chills. Next week bought audible. haven't gone low since. Still don't have cypress but need better rig than my dolphin probably get both when I down size.
  25. No. Found out from Mark that I should've pulled the reserve handle which I will do next time.canopy is still in tree but should be gotten out tomorrow.I Held onto the cutaway handle without even thinking about it
