Having watched the 'old-skool' malfunction video linked in Safety & Training I trawled through a few other recommended videos on You Tuvbe and found this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXpnxMH3hds&NR=1&feature=fvwp It's static line but not as I know it. In all except the first jump the static line appears to pull the PC for the student/jumper instead of being linked to the d-bag. For this compilation they seem to have just used PC-in-tow malfunctions but I don't understand the language. It is a bizarre watch and would be interested in comments. Christ. So you landed under your main and not your reserve if I am watching correctly. Training, at least mine, says that if you have anything out (i.e. you PC) then you cutaway before deploying reserve and I would be interested on theories about how that would have ended up. You were in one of the worst positions - a PC in tow. You survived but I think you need to review a few things. Firstly I have no idea what was going on on the jump itself. Lots of spinning. Not much tracking (by the looks of things) and no awareness, apparently, of where your other jumper is. I am, maybe wrongly, assuming an early sit fly jump with not much control. Anyway, other than the scariness of that jump itself you then had the shittiest opening I have seen for a while. It may be that the way the PC was packed contributed to what happened. It is possible to choke your own PC in the BOC by sloppy packing so it's possible that the pack job and sloppy throw contributed. Personally I would have tried to pull the pin with the bridle by hand. At least that way upon cutting away, if that hadn't fixed it, I would be less at risk of a hang up of both main & reserve. You didn't do that and you didn't give up which I have massive respect for but I think you need to review the processes that led you to be in that situation - packing, throw, reserve drills etc. to try and avoid getting in it again as next time you might not be so lucky. I connect my CX105 to my Mac on USB Connect and open iMovie but it doesn't recognise the camera when I try to capture from camera and just opens the web cam, with no other options. I believe we have a 'young man's clause' in the UK that essentially allows for younger people (I think 21 or under) a get out of jail free card if they believed the person was over 16. Above that age then they should know better. I think the comments about young people are right - I don't know anyone when I was young who cared about the age of consent particularly. I also think that 16 is about right. I had a thought whilst reading yet another low jump numbers GoPro thread about the difference between Australia and America, (this will be about sex, keep reading). In Oz the camera limit is set at 100 jumps, in the US it's 200 but both federations consider themself right, so which is? On to the big question. In the US the age of consent is between 16 and 18 years, depending on state, and if you were to have sex with a 17 year old in the wrong state then you would be committing statutory rape. In the UK the age of consent is 16 and surveys indicate, in the UK at least a third of kids have sex before this age.
