  1. I've been on loads at different DZs in the UK when they have offered the option to jump at cloud base or land with the plane. I always jump (so far, lowest 1800 feet), but if you don't you don't pay. In addition I only had to pay a low ticket £15, instead of £20 for a high. Seems like the DZOs of the DZs I have jumped at are more generous than others on here. I tend to agree with most comments on here that you pay your money you take your chances... 4. I'm sorry to say it but it is extremely unlikely that you will be doing HD transitions in an hour. I recently did an hour (over two days) in a tunnel and a friend of mine with similar jump numbers did an hour as well. The first 30 mins was belly & back with some belly-back transitions. The next was back to sit, walking in the tunnel and then sit flying with him able to do sit front flips at the end of the first hour. I have 12 hours in tunnels now and was impressed with his speed of progression. I am now flying HD launching from the net and am working on the HD transitions, which incidentally I hate! 5. I put them in before boarding and remove after landing. I also wear them in the tunnel and on the bike and on the few occasions I do car tracks days. In my thirties I have already noticed some hearing loss from lots of biking and a bit of jumping. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  6. I'm registered and paid up for a chopper jump. The last one I did was for my 300th and that was £35 to 8k - was surprised to see how inflation has hit chopper prices... CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  7. There is a very large school of thought that says that Megrahi didn't even commit the crime and that it was nothing to do with Libya at all but actually Iran. A number of the victims families subscribe to this school of thought. The most active of these in the UK is a Dr Jim Swire, who irrelevantly happens to be from the same town as my parents. He described the jailing of Megrahi as "one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in history". When he was released these discussions started again and there is another school of thought that says that the only reason he was released is because even the authorities didn't really think he had done it. With many islamic terrorists they are only too happy to take the blame and praise Allah for their actions - Megrahi has protested innocence all along. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with these theories but just putting them out there. If he did do it then he should not have been released. If he did not then he should have been released but also fully pardoned. We all love to have someone to pin a crime on and be able to draw a line under it but maybe they did have the wrong guy... 8. Not sure what the pro-flyer rates will be but the standard rates are damned expensive - AU$88 for 2 mins. Airkix UK is, I believe £25, or c. AU$40... CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  9. I'm trying to be lighthearted. Obama was making it a British thing by calling it British Petroleum. I hope he doesn't start on the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation. The BP oil leak is a classic example of companies, and countries, overlooking the very low probability extremely high risk potential problems. Got to go, I just saw BP mugging an old lady... 10. BP (not "British Petroleum, it hasn't been known as that in years), I just thought that as a British person I should be the one to out them. In addition to contaminating the Gulf of Mexico with 'their' oil and freeing Libyan terrorists who bomb planes over Lockerbie I thought I should let you know that I saw BP kicking a cat and swearing at an old person. They also perpetrated 9/11, Watergate and I think they may even have found a wallet on the street, kept the money and not told the cops but that I can't confirm. That is all. Well until they get blamed for something else. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people

  12. It can be a frustrating time and I remember the gear hire issue well. Many people have been in your position so try and stick with it. Have you done your relative work progression - in the UK it is FS1? Jumping with a coach up to a 4 point four way. These may be the coaches who were too busy but push to get this done then not only will you be more confident but others will be more happy to jump with you. I also must re-echo - solos are good! 13. This will last until someone takes it to the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg then it will be thrown out. I don't like them but you need to ban balaclavas and crash helmets if you go down this route. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  14. Not sure it is from the pictures - doesn't look like them. Agree on the S-Fly though. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  15. I think it might have been/included Stephane Zunino & Loic Jean-Albert from Soul Flyers. They had one of the suits in Gap when I was there a few weeks ago and the instructor hinted at that. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  16. I've just had my rigger move my knife from my leg strap to above my cutaway handle as I can't access my leg strap with my wing suit on. it is a requirement in the UK to have one but I would jump with one even if it wasn't. So cheap, so unlikely I will ever need it but hey, might as well have one... CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  17. Hey. Landings vary enormously depending on canopy type, landing style and wind level. It is possible to have 'tip-toe' landings on every jump if you are a good canopy pilot however I would expect that almost every single skydiver out there has had a few landings that have been hard, especially when learning. There is a lot to think about when you are a new jumper and until you are dialled in to the idiosyncrasies of your canopy you are likely to misjudge a few landings. This is one reason why newer jumpers start on large, lightly loaded canopies that are more forgiving. It really is up to you. If you can't jump from, for example, 3 feet up without risk of hurting yourself then I would think again. Just my view of course... CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people

  19. Cheers Ross Will (Smith) has started jumping at Sibson so you may see him around. He has just bought a Birdman Blade 2 in Black, White & Red and is getting into the freefly scene too. Would love to get up there at some point but at this stage hoping the weather holds so I can get a few jumps in this week at Hinton... CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  20. Yes I did. I was fairly confident that I would enjoy it as it is something I have wanted to do for a long time and I am lucky to have the luxury of being able to afford it. I like new toys! I did 18 jumps over the past 4 days on the S-Fly course. First on the S-Fly Indy and then on the S-Fly Expert that I purchased. I honestly think that my first jump on the Expert is in the top 5 jumps I have ever made - I absolutely loved it. To quote my friend Will, who also did the course, "who would have thought that a solo could be this much fun". The course was run by Stephane "Zun" Zunino (of Soul Flyers) and several other great guys. It was without a doubt the best 4 days jumping I have ever enjoyed, in the amazing location of Gap in the southern Alps. I have now got 5 jumps on the Expert and am looking forward to learning much more over the next few months and years. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  21. When mounting your GoPro on the foot do you use the extension arm or just the standard base? I have been experimenting with it and I find the arm more 'wobbly' but you can't get a perfect angle with just the base. Help appreciated and pictures too! CJP Gods don't kill people. 22. You can't get a much better fit for your descriptions than Empuria. They jump every day (have friends who did 8 jumps on Christmas Day) although they wind can be a challenge there. Usually more of an issue in the summer I have found though. Great DZ, great place. CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people

  24. That makes sense. I wondered why it didn't come with a single strap on one side and a clasp on the other. Any ideas? CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
  25. So today I placed an order for an S-Fly Expert from Fly Your Body. Booked onto the wingsuit course in two weeks and the suit turns up in late July so should have time to do a few jumps on a few other suits before it arrives. Thanks for the input.
