  1. Somebody's posted in the classifieds today for a 206 in Vegas
  2. Well, I'm 6'1" and I got up to 240 before getting my butt back in gear. I've been back down around 185 for a couple years now. I knew it was bad when I wore a sweatshirt over my jumpsuit to help control my fall rate
  3. What changed? I did an underage tandem in '92 on a Vector tandem rig, and my parents signed an underage waiver. Doesn't the USPA currently allow 16 year olds to jump with parent's consent?
  4. Because you may have two canopies out without pulling the ripcord (think cypres fire). That means the RSL could still maintain a connection between one riser and your container when you cut away the main.
  5. So are you keeping that in your routine for Nationals?
  6. Not very often, but I had one last week. It was a big way RW jump over the ocean by the coast. I tracked away at the end of it, couldn't grab my throwout handle, and then I struggled with my reserve ripcord, but I managed to get it pulled. I ended up landing in the water though All of my skydiving dreams seem to involve some kind of malfunction I've gone in a few times in my dream (streamer, low pull), but I always seem to survive
  7. Wow! I think I pulled a groin muscle just watching that Seriously, good job getting rid of that so fast.
  8. Yes: Amazon Pixie skykittykat grue! Viking mattjw916 outlawphx Probably: Stumpy Maybe:
  9. I went close to 10 years myself with 480 jumps before my layoff. I just talked to the head instructor, showed him I remembered my EP's, rented a rig, and did a solo with a high pull. Piece of cake.
  10. The pressure you're feeling is probably from your sinuses, but you can check with your doctor. I started having pain from clearing my ears every jump, and my doctor recommended a decongestant. So I've been using Afrin on the drive down to the DZ, and I haven't had any issues since.
  11. It's really similar to a Voodoo. The Talon FS just has a little different main canopy tray. Where the Voodoo is curved from the bottom of the reserve tray to the backpad (over the main pin flap and BOC), the Talon FS is more "boxed" with a BOC pocket that is more perpendicular to the backpad (like most containers). Basically, the difference is supposed to be that the Voodoo is more aerodynamic when flying head up. There are a bunch of Talon FS and Voodoo's down here in Eloy, and they're both real nice.
  12. I put close to 100 jumps on a Manta. I got a smoking deal on it when I got off student status, and I later used it as a demo jump canopy after I downsized severely (288ft to 150ft). I never had anything but soft openings on it, but I was only 210 out the door.
  13. Wow, 1.2 until 500 jumps... That'll go over well
  14. Its a sad state of affairs when Stiletos are viewed as intermediate canopies.... Yep. When I came into the sport in '92, Sabre I's were high performance, and people would usually make a couple hundred F111 jumps before getting a Zero-P. Nowdays, Sabre I's are considered dogs, and people are buying Sabre2's right off student status. Now I don't think that is the problem so much as the second and third canopies they've moved on to within their first couple hundred jumps.
  15. I totally agree, and that's what I think these polls today are getting at. At some point we passed from being a family that would look after our own into this large community that feels the need for rules to police other skydivers. Ten years ago, if someone cut me off under canopy, I'd be giving him sh*t the moment we landed. Two weekends ago some bastard flew his base leg the opposite direction as the twenty other jumpers on the load and tried to wrap me at 300 ft. I saw him coming (he was staring 90 degrees away at the landing area), so I had to throw a quick turn to avoid a collision. Now I jump at a big dropzone, and I've never seen this guy before. I didn't say anything except to the two jumpers I was jumping with who saw the whole thing unfold. I suppose I should of said something, but like I said, we're a community now, not a family. On a side note, I heard Brian Burke calling him to manifest as I walked into the hangar. The all seeing one!
  16. Oh, well let me change me vote then... I've had a foot casted and some stiches paid for by my medical insurance.
  17. I snuck in my 100th in the middle of the week. That didn't stop them from suprise pieing me on number 101 that weekend
  18. In the spirit of today's polls. What if your DZ implemented a wingloading rule that followed the general 1.x lbs per 1 sqft guidline, where x is equal to your jump numbers divided by 100. i.e. 1.1 for 100 jump skydivers 1.2 for 200 jump skydivers etc.
  19. I think this poll should of been a multiple answer thread.... Where are there narrow minded DZO's that you're implying exist?
  20. I've got 500 jumps without a Cypres, and I just finally bought one.
