  1. I'll have to ask around next time I'm down. I've seen one FF2, and I know Benji has an XL Rawa.
  2. I just got my new freefly Michigan Suit yesterday! Mike was very helpful on the phone, and the suit turned out great. It's built tough, and I really like the standard double velcro closures at the wrist and ankle. On top of all that, the price was great and standard delivery only took 3 weeks. I can't wait to try it out tomorrow!
  3. You could be cleared for solo freefall, but you still have to ride up with a jumpmaster and need to wear a radio for canopy flight (i.e. S/L progression). Depends what your definition of solo is.
  4. MacGuyver lives! That's a good idea.
  5. PM sent. I'd like to try one on, as I emailed 2k composites and they said the shells are all the same size. They just have different liners. Other than the slickness of the enclosure, I like that it's flexible to change cameras with the same box.
  6. I like the hinge closure on the illusion, and it seems like a nice helmet for top mounting. It just seems with the width that a side mount would stick out an extra inch on it as compared to some other helmets. Maybe with baking, the shell would come in some. The forehead of the medium was painful, so maybe with baking it'd just end up really snug.
  7. I've read through all the archives, and I still have some questions. Does each size of Rawa have a different size shell, or do they just have different size liners? Specifically, I'm comparing the medium and large. I currently jump a medium bonehead mindwarp, which shares a shell with the large. My head measures 23" which is a size large, but I think because my head is narrow that the larger sizes don't work for me. When I baked my mindwarp, I compressed most of the padding on the front and rear and squeezed the helmet shell in, while the side padding didn't need to be compressed. I tried on a medium optik illusion, and it was way too wide and at the same time way to short in the front to back area. I tried on a large, and although it fit front to back, it was so wide it would rock side to side with almost no resistance. The other problem is it's so wide I wouldn't want to side mount anything. Does anyone know if the original optik fits more like the mindwarp than the optik illusion? I've also heard the FF2 is for wider heads as well. Anyone care to comment?
  8. When shopping for a freefly suit, I looked at most of the manufacturers, and I quickly narrowed it down to Body Suit, Flite Suit, Firefly, and Michigan. I liked the reputation of Flite Suit, but it was the most expensive and had a 6 week delivery time with no rush available. Firefly also had a great reputation and low price, but they were backed up 8 weeks or more. Body Suit had a good delivery time and low price, but I wasn’t very impressed with the quality of their RW suits and had heard their freefly suits were built similarly. I couldn’t find anyone that had anything but good things to say about Michigan Suits, and I’ve seen Michigan RW suits that were very well built. On top of that, the price was right and the quoted standard delivery time was only 2-3 weeks. I called and talked to Mike Michigan about what I wanted before I ordered, and he was very friendly and helped me decided what cut and material I should use based on my shorts & t-shirt fallrate. The suit only took 3 weeks from order to delivery. It fits great, and it looks really well built. The double Velcro closures on the wrists and ankles were standard and look bulletproof. All of the seams are finished on the inside and outside, so I’m sure this suit will last. I've owned RW suits from Bev Suit, Tony Suit, Flite Suit, and Body Sport, and this is the best built suit I've owned.
  9. Looks like it. The left side steering line and some of the left C-D lines are going to the left, but some other left C-D lines are going around the right side line groups.
  10. I thought about that too, but there's the possibility of the guy getting knocked unconsious while trying use the plane to shake him off.
  11. That's what they did. If you look at the end of the video, it was the guy hanging that got a grip on someone's hand and pulled himself free of the step. I think he was too far from the ramp to try to pull in.
  12. Well, one guy tried offering his foot first
  13. It's RUINED! I'll give you $100 for it I love the sound of fresh crinkly zero-p.... as long as I'm not packing it.
  14. I've got about 10 Sabre 1 jumps and 50 Sabre2 jumps, and I'd say the only thing similar about them are the names Well, and the fact that they're both zero-p, etc, etc. I love the way the Sabre2 flies, and my only complaint is it's tendency to open off heading.
  15. Yeah, my dad's was listed as 2004, but he got his license originally in the mid 60's.
  16. Yeah, I remember seeing the some old farmers that would fly crop dusters near my grandfather's farm, and I wonder if they ever bothered getting their license.
  17. Nope. DAVID C DONNELLY Address Address is not available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Medical No Medical Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CertIficates 1 of 1 DOI : 08/24/1945 CertIficate: PRIVATE PILOT Rating(s): PRIVATE PILOT AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND
  18. I was looking for another pilot friend of mine, and I came across someone with the same name and a license issued in 1945... Wow. They did some extensive data entry into that system!
  19. For a young private pilot (less than 40 years old) a class three medical is good for three years. For a commercial pilot (jump pilots) a medical certificate is only good for one year. . Ah. His last medical was 01/2004, and he has: AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT AIRPLANE MULTIENGINE LAND COMMERCIAL PRIVILEGES AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND Type Ratings A/A-320 A/B-737 A/CE-500
  20. My Voodoo has been great to me. Good fit, well made, and secure.
  21. I think having the information current in your mind (i.e. you thought about the situation recently) will help with decision making in situations of high stress (i.e. a malfunction).
  22. That's cool. I looked up my dad's ratings in there. It doesn't necessarily mean their ratings are current though, since my dad suffered a major shoulder injury and hasn't regained enough range of motion to pass a physical. There's nothing to that effect in his query though.
