  1. I never rolled it much. The main thing was making sure the slider stayed up against the slider stops while packing.
  2. George hasn't be in at Precision today, and I have a question about hooking up my new Nitron. Typically with cascaded linsets, the most outboard A-B line is the outermost line on the connector links. The next A-B set in is the next outermost line, etc. What is the pattern for non-cascaded linesets? I was looking at my links as they shipped them, and if I rotate the link so the most outboard A line is the outermost line at the link, the next line in on the preassembled link is the center cell's B line. I would assume that the center cell's B line would be the most INBOARD line on my front riser link... Should it be something like A1, B1, A2, B2, A3, etc on the link?
  3. It's not the bad, especially during the week. The manifesters will explain the landing pattern when you check in.
  4. Mine did that at first, but then it settled down after about 30-40 jumps. I don't know if my body position got better, or I was flying the opening more in the harness...
  5. The only thing similar about the Sabre I & II are the names I thought the openings on my Sabre2 were great.
  6. Thanks for reassuring me guys! I jump a Sunnto Observer also, so I'll add my own comparisons too.
  7. 6 or 9. And the colors.... I guess you just have to express your individuality
  8. Is anyone jumping an L&B Optima inside their helmet? I just ordered one and was wondering how much wearing it inside my helmet would affect it's accuracy for swoop altitudes. In any case, I'm going to try it out this weekend and compare it to my digital altimiter. I suppose I could drill a small hole or two on the audible bump on my Optik where it sits to increase it's accuracy, but I'm not sure if that would help or not. In freefall, a couple hundred feet either way isn't that big of deal, but swooping tolerances are quite a bit smaller...
  9. Most swoopers in Eloy with Mirages do a bungee around the top reserve flap, and then attach a plastic ball and a rubber band to the bungee. Do a search in the swooping forum, and you'll find some more detailed explainations.
  10. Good timing! I've got a Sony DSC-P10 (camera, not camcorder) that had the LCD crap out on me last week.
  11. I'd recommend any of the books by David Bach. A no bullshit approach about building wealth, even when starting from deep in debt. You don't even need to waste money to buy the book. Do like I did and rent the book-on-CD from the library and listen on your drive to work. http://www.finishrich.com/books/startlate_brandhome.php
  12. I have a mortgage, but I own both of my cars outright and don't have any short term debt. My wife and I got here by cutting back on expenses, big and little. If you start writing down everything that you buy (from soda's from the vending machine to dinner out to ???), you'll get a good idea of how much money you could really save. The thing to remember is most people don't suddenly come into windfalls of money, so the best approach is to look at where the money you do earn goes.
  13. OK... What's up with putting a picture of a first generation iPod on the ad? Since Apple is currently on the 5th generation, does that mean Dropzone.com is giving away a used 2001 model?
  14. I bought a new Sabre2 150 last year, and I hated it for about a month. Packing new zero-P in 100 degree heat = hell The best two packing tips that helped me: A packing tip from Brent Finley's website about doing two smaller folds with each ear, which allows you to reach under the canopy and hold the two sides together while s-folding the canopy. The reverse S-fold, which I found on Sid's website. Basically, you just S-fold the top part of the canopy into the bag, while kneeling on the lower part of the tail. Then you stuff the remaining tail into the middle of the fold in the bag. That way you're not trying to stick the whole slippery mess into the bag at once. Check out their sites for photos and better descriptions. I have a new Nitron on order, so I'll be going through the same thing in a couple weeks
  15. Yeah, I got a whopping %50 off coupon for an Esprit (Who would want one?) for my Nova with a 100 jumps on it Since I never used it, I guess I should of kept it for a car cover
  16. Yep. My TRV22 saves to the stick at 320x240 and at much slower frame per second. It's saved in one of the weak MPEG formats.
  17. Yep, I just removed my main for a buyer this weekend, and I cut a little piece of cardboard off a old box, poked six holes in it, labeled the holes, ran the soft links through four of the holes, and tied the steering lines to the other two. It took me maybe five minutes. I figured it's just common courtesy, plus I'd hate to have the buyer chop their first jump after hooking it up wrong and try to blame the canopy... What's with everyone bogarting the links? They're standard with all the canopies I've seen...
  18. I use a Sunnto Observer and a ProTrack. I really like the Observer under canopy for it's accuracy, but I'd recommend sticking with a skydiving specific altimeter for a few hundred jumps (and at least until you've had a malfunction). The numbers are a little harder to read in freefall (because of their size) and probably also while on sensory overload (learning new things, etc).
  19. I have the Sony .6x on my TRV22, and I've been really happy with it for skydiving. I've also started using it when videoing my son, as I'm usually pretty close. You might be interested in this wide angle lens comparison.
  20. Time for the "Oops, I dropped the camcorder" or the "I don't know why, but it suddenly stopped working"
  21. I got it even better. Although I live in Phoenix, my parents just bought a house 5 minutes from Eloy. Now I can drop my son off for babysitting on my way to the DZ
  22. I have one, and the bolt is pretty thin. I don't have it with me at work to measure it though, but I'll try to remember to check when I get home. You can always give Linda at bonehead a call.
