  1. Life is risky period..there are no guarantees...EVER! You could die in your sleep tonight or in a vehicular accident tomorrow. I applaud you for being supportive of your wife. She NEEDS your support. The more educated you are in this sport the better for her and your own peace of mind. My husband jumped in the military and for years talked about doing it again. I had always said I'd only jump out of a plane if it was on fire. To make a long story shorter...I just turned 54 years old and I have almost 160 jumps after taking a static line course with my hubby. It's the coolest thing I've ever done and I can't imagine my life without spending weekends at the dropzone. I love my adopted dz family and skydiving. If I were to die doing what I love...what could be a better way to go? Who Knows.. you might actually want to try a tandem sometime. You might enjoy it too. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  2. Abbreviation for the PLURAL noun "mathematics" so what's the plural of aeronautics then? Arse? It's already plural. Just like data. and the Internets! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  3. I wear a plain gold band (just like the one in the picture) but I always wear gloves when I jump. If I didn't wear gloves I would leave the ring at home. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  4. Sorry...my mistake...it's rigminder.net NOT com _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  5. OR...... you can go to rigminder.com and for free, list your rig(s), canopy info etc. and they will send you reminder e-mails for repacks, AAD service, etc. They also offer a free e-mail account. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!

  8. Sorry, but there's not a snowball's chance in hell of THAT happening! Talk to the dude that didn't like yellow & silver. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  9. And I would probably be doing likewise and I would be soooo sorry I missed a deal like that...I saw the special price but didn't want to scrape up the money right now and when my husband heard about it he insisted I buy one immediately with his bonu$ from work. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  10. Here's a pic of my brand new $700 Triathlon. I didn't care what color I got as long as the size was correct. She's one sweet ride and highly visible to others. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!

  12. My USPA card is IN my rig with the reserve repack card.
  13. It would be helpful if you filled out your profile. IMO a 150 anything seems a little small for a student? How many jumps do you have and how much do you weigh? _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  14. Happy Birthday to you and nice pic too! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  15. Thanks for the heads up...I'm awaiting my Tri to arrive this week. I've already talked to my rigger about hooking it up next weekend. He will be very careful double checking the lines and if something's not right he won't let me jump it. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  16. Ok thanks, now I have soda all over my keyboard Sorry dude but that is some funny shit! We have Dobermans and after one of them ate a tv remote and a travel alarm we have learned to keep our expensive toys put away. Glad to hear you're getting a replacement at cost. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  17. Thanks for the info on the sale. I have a Triathlon that I LOVE & I've been looking to downsize....so I went ahead and bought one off the website. WooHoo! Hubby needs to downsize too so he gets my "old" one with less than 200 jumps on it! Sweet price! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!

  21. I like my Dolphin and my hubby likes his too! I actually like the black container with just the Dolphin in color. It goes with everything! We got 2 lightly used rigs for the price of a brand new one. Now we can buy more lift tickets. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  22. Yep, me too! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  23. My husband and I are weekend jumpers and we both have had Dolphin containers for a couple of years. We have done some freeflying and never had any problems yet. Just make sure any Velcro is in good condition and the poptop & reserve closing loop tight...we also have our rigger check our gear on a regular basis. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  24. Sounds like "grip" bruising. I occasionally get fingertip bruises on the inside of my upper arms when one of my fellow RW jumpers has too tight of a hold there...usually on an exit. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  25. Thank you Evelyn for this thread. I too have very frustrated by my lack of stand up landings...at least now I am no longer flaring too high, thanks to having someone tape my landings. There are a bunch of great tips that these jumpers have submitted and I will practice with the additional advice. Thank all of you! I have also learned by video taping the landings of others that not all of the "experienced" skydivers have stand ups and that a soft butt landing is preferable than trying to stand one up & breaking something in the process! IMHO...ANY landing you can walk away from is a GOOD landing!
