  1. Do your jump buddies (and their noses) a favor, wash your jumpsuit once in awhile. It's made to withstand a lot of abuse so it should wash well. As needed or at least once a month during the Summer...all of (mine & hubby's) jump clothing goes in the washer with a colored terry towel, regular detergent (Tide, Era, etc.) on gentle cycle, WARM wash, (cold water doesn't clean anything well) COLD rinse. I pre-treat any grass stains the day before with Shout and fasten all velcro before washing. Hang to dry. Been doing it this way for 5 years to the same clothing, NO stains or odors and everything looks nearly new! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  2. Nicely done! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  3. Skydiving has made me a LOT more calm and careful in everyday living and especially as a driver...I let the faster drivers just go now 'cause I've gotta get to the dropzone in one piece so I can jump! Better late than not at all! And I ALWAYS wear a sealtbelt...DO YOU? _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  4. You are so right! I'm an OLD lady with brittle bones so I HAD to get my own gear or I probably wouldn't have stayed with this sport. Found a good deal on a slightly used rig, borrowed the money and bought a Cypres2 on a credit card. Jumped my own gear on jump #13 and believe me it made a HUGE difference in my comfort level AND it was cheaper in the long run than renting rigs. I could then focus on learning other important skills...and having FUN! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  5. When I started S/L training nobody told me there would be bruises. I've had strut bruises, riser slap bruises, leg strap bruises. I even smacked the step with my shin THREE different times...that left a scar! I've also been strangled by a chest strap on a rig way too big for me. RELAX...focus on what your supposed to be doing and your body position will improve. When you get your own gear, it will fit you better, feel more comfortable and you'll have a lot fewer bruises. Student gear SUCKS. Just RELAX... listen to your instructors and have fun! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  6. Any auto parts store has the wraparound padded shoulder/seat belt covers. They're cheap & easy to put on & take off the leg straps. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  7. 4 years ago I wouldn't have dreamed of jumping without my AAD. In Dec. I pulled it out for it's 4 year service, didn't have the extra money right then, so I jumped without it for 6 months and have finally decided to sell it to a friend. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  8. I'm 55 and I don't bend easily anymore either. When I first started jumping it looked like I was strapped to an ironing board. I practiced arching in a swimming pool...for me it worked like a charm. Before you jump take a deep breath and RELAX, RELAX, RELAX! It'll get easier. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  9. Damn...scary footage. Sorry but I would soooo be kicking someone's ass! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  10. Yep...they're a cheap, easy and comfortable fix!
  11. Here's a pic of my canopy...everybody I jump with says it's highly visible from any angle. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  12. I am still numb with disbelief that I will never again see Marnie's beautiful smiling face. I loved her like a sister. My condolences to everyone in Mt.Vernon, and to all of Marnie's family and friends. Fly forever free in blue skies my skysister...I love you! 13. Sweet! Congratulations...keep working on it and you'll finally get those nice stand up landings! Having someone video your landings will help. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  14. It's a keeper...and a great "back up" canopy and I wouldn't have a problem with jumping it again! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  15. I have a Rascal 262 (Advanced Para Systems) in my closet..it was my husband's (he weighs 230) and my first canopy...it's an F111, almost 20 years old and the flare is kinda crappy which is part of why it's in the closet! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!

  17. They have fleece, shoulder seat belt covers that wrap around and fasten with velcro. Available at WalMart or your local auto parts store. These are great for padding your legstraps and cheap! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  18. Aerodyne is awesome! Hubby broke brake lines on his slighty used Triathlon 220...sent canopy in to replace the brake lines and they did the mod for free. Great service and communication. Then I bought a brand NEW Tri 190 from them last year for a CHEAP $700 ...I LOVE my canopy and hubby loves his! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  19. I've had my SportRX goggles for over 4 years...cost about $125 and worth every penny! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  20. My ass is not replaceable...an AAD is cheap insurance. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  21. I have had a Vigil and a Cypres2 for 4 years and I would buy another Vigil in a heartbeat. Do not know how anyone could accidently set the Vigil in the wrong mode. It's easy to change the mode but NOT by accident. A gear check should ALWAYS be done before jumping any rig! _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  22. I stick a stash (laundry) bag inside my jumpsuit. _________________________________________ Old age ain't no place for sissies!
  23. I've bought 2 collapsable pilotchutes from ParaGear. They both work just fine
  24. Almost any canopy can get a bad reputation. There are bound to be lots of variables depending upon each situation. Hubby says his Tempo 210 worked just fine and he stood up the landing. It's a RESERVE...to save your ass from certain death. If you are used to flying a 9 cell ZP, that F111 7 cell reserve is probably gonna turn like a barge and the landing will be at a steeper angle and not what you're used to...my worthless nickle's worth!
